Hi all, I am actually starting a local support group that actually meets here in Arizona. I have a secret Facebook page where we can keep in contact and plan our meetings. Please message me here if your interested. Pre and post op welcome! Thanks

I think I "might" have finally pushed through the 3 week stalk... Am down a pound a day the last three days. I was starting to feel like this wasn't working for me! I'm now down 19.5 since surgery on 2/16-- I feel like I'm going to be a slow loser. My friend had surgery two weeks after me, and she's already lost more than me post-op! Frustrating, but I can't help but be happy for her. It really helps having someone in person to talk to about this process!
So, I'm now down over 50 pounds since I started this journey in mid-2014! I think I'm ready to share a before and current picture! Anyone else ready to share a photo? :-)
I think too am a slow loser... I think I am happy about that but not sure.. How do you feel about that? I'm hoping it will help reduce the chances of loose skin

I have started a private Facebook group for ongoing chat and support. If your interested let me know your name to add you or add me as a friend and I'll add you to the group. Completely private

@ Titan I have yet to throw up. I've had no complications other than a little heartburn immediately post op.. No need to be scared of others experiences. Everyone is different and may have other health issues causing these problems

Chele I did not have my surgery here locally. My insurance regardless was going to make me pay 50% plus many other fees

Hey momo,
Nice to meet you April will be here Before you know it! Would love to connect and chat

They gave me the okay to start Protein with milk yesterday, 4 days post-op. So far what I did is I use 8oz Simply Smart fat free milk (10 grms. protein) plus vanilla Unjury (21 grms. of protein) plus I put a scoop of GENEPRO (unflavoured protein) which has 30 grms. of protein so in those 8 oz. I can get the required 60 grms. of protein for the day. I do not love the flavor but I am not really carzy about Protein Shakes. Once I can start with yogurts and the other stuff I am planning on just using the Genepro unflavoured protein in yogurt, cream Soups, etc., I have tried it before and it really does not change the texture or taste.
I'm glad you had a better day, Pato!!! It's only uphill from here. It feels like it will be forever until I can actually chew again (and even longer until I can satisfy my popcorn craving), but I'm hanging in there and trying to find the bright spots where ever possible. How are you taking your protein in during the clear phase? Today is the first day I could have any because it creates a viscous liquid rather than a clear one.
51 grams protein in one shake.. That just sounds miserable and thick like mud.. How was it?

Hi there! Are you pre or post op? Tell me about you

I had surgery last week on 2/24/15. I have to tell you, even day 5 compared to day 3 is a total 180. Those first 3 days are a doozie and you doubt your decision. I went back to work on my 7th day post-op and I'm an RN in a busy unit and I feel great. Give it a week-- you will feel totally different! Hope this encourages you! Good luck!
I am a RN also and went back to work right around the same time you did post op. Taking everyday in stride.

Glad to know my feelings are not unusual. I've limited myself to once a weeks weigh ins and actually tonight I am going to start my measurements. I think I'm losing more inches than pounds. Good luck everyone. Just focus on being healthy and hydrated!

Anyone in AZ? I was sleeved feb 27, 2015. Would love someone local to chat with meet up with and support eachother. Pre or post op doesn't matter to me

@ I am glad I could help! I read a similar post prior to going down and it was SO helpful- as I am generally a paranoid person. I am so excited for you! I had never had surgery before, and while it is not FUN to have surgery, the trip was super enjoyable!!! Woot woot!
@@defibvt WOW I cannot believe you are penalized via insurance! That totally sucks Well, shortly, you will be on the road to discounts!!! If you like coffee drinks, try Click Protein with milk instead of Water. I use Lactaid because me and dairy are enemies, but they are SO good..I look forward to my morning Click! That sounds...very wrong lol. But they taste like a yummy, creamy frappacino/latte. YUM.
Is it called Click or Chikk (or something closer to that)

I think that it would be quite beneficial to the flow of the board if everyone made a point to remember that we are here to lift each other up as we all go through the same journey.
I realize some of you may not want to hear this, but there is no "right" way to do this. Each person's success will be different.. each person's body will respond differently. What worked for you may not work for someone else. Even our doctors don't agree on diet, exercise, etc... So before we slam down our "fist of absolute truth," let's try to remember that we are all on this journey together, and lift one another up.
I couldn't agree more or said it any better. Bravo Geekguy

Good to hear all the reports. My surgery was 2/27. The weight coming off is of course nice and I have lost 15 pounds since sugery. But I am so focused on getting all the steps right it had been secondary. I am excited at the prospect of life being so different...makes me giddy at times. I sooo wanted to move one day sooner to purée stage but stuck it out. Yesterday I made up a weeks worth of pureed chicken and crab. Added different things to the chicken for an added flair. The crab was very good. I had 1/4 cup of the crab at lunch and could not eat but half of dinner. So far no foods have been an issue. Knock on wood.
I think I had read so much about tiny sips and bites I was anxious it but I am almost taking normal swallows of liquid.
Still have pain from incisions that are aggravated by my pants waist..but otherwise the pain is fine. The worst part for me is energy level. The first few hours if the morning feel like I am going to pass out. This subsides some through the day but I still lack enough energy to do much.
So my surgery date was the same as yours. Your already allowed puréed foods? I'm supposed to do full liquids this week

Even if her surgeon told her what to expect that doesn't mean her body will do that. You all should understand not everyone knows what to expect what is normal what is good what is bad. Just answer people's questions politely or just don't comment at all.... Smh

burping! all the time. seems like even with Water, i'm burping. i can also feel my stomach and the water moving around in there and then into my intestines. it's really weird. i also get waves of heartburn, which leave quickly. i've been taking the pepcid as instructed to minimize the acid. i thought i was only to take it if i had acid, but the PA said to take it regardless, as they want the acid to remain low in the stomach so that it can heal properly.
I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one getting waves of heartburn. Such an odd sensation. Never suffered from heartburn before only occasionally when I had spicy food
