Nellythere reacted to Sherry G in Gastric Bypass Surgery Progress Pictures
I had gastric bypass in October, 2013 and started at 409 pounds. I'm now 150 and am having my arms done 12/22. I'm so excited but nervous. I feel great!

One year today on December 15, 2014, I was given a new life and a second chance to live my life to the fullest instead of letting it pass me by. I want to wish myself a Happy One Year Anniversary on my weight loss journey! I may not have hit my goal of losing 200lbs by today, but I am proud of the 185lbs that I have lost. Plus, I know that I will get pass this stall and hit my goal of 239 very soon. This journey has had its ups and downs but it is worth it, so I can live to grow old with my husband and see our kids grow up and have a family of their own. I have to thank my family and friends for all the love and support they have given me while I have been on this journey. It is just the beginning for me and my family, as we all start to really enjoy life and all that it has to offer.

9 months and 96 pounds lost. I can hardly believe it. Finally eating healthier and burning 300-900 calories at the gym 3 times a week is actually working and it only took having a little surgery.

43 here and surgery in 6 days! Looking forward to the mid forties instead of the pain and lethargy of the last 10 years. Can't wait.

Nellythere reacted to The Candidate in Sleeve or Bypass?
I chose the bypass for many reasons. I was concerned about GERD issues which has been a post op complication for some, definitely not all, who have had the sleeve. I also have a terrible sweet tooth and thought the fear of dumping would help curtail that addiction long term. And I wanted both the restriction and malabsorption components to help me reach goal.
This is really such a personal choice that has to be adapted to fit your particular lifestyle and expectations. When I began this journey I was dead set on the sleeve. But as I progressed towards surgery, I started to have doubts. Probably the biggest factor in my switch to bypass over sleeve was the fact that I *would* be able to eat most anything I wanted, only in smaller portions. I know this is listed as a pro for most, but for me, I felt that would be a gateway back to my old bad food choice ways.
I'm 11 weeks out, and I don't have a single regret. Do as much research as you can in determining which will be best for you. Good luck!

Hi,
I am really happy for you that you have made this decision. I had the surgery in August 2014 and it has changed my life! My HW was 178kg, and I am now 90kg. I am at a point now where i am starting to consider plastic surgery to remove the excess skin. Although i still have a few kilos to lose the doctors all agree it is mostly skin now so I am thrilled!
Happy to answer any questions you might have from my experience or provide support.
The journey had been challenging but is definitely worth it!
Best of luck!
