    Scared

I am scheduled for surgery on February 16. I too am scared. Worried about pain and complications. I am hoping to make some friends here that I can continue talking to throughout this journey. Prayers for you all, for a very quick, pain free surgery!!

    EGD was today

So due to the weather my egd was changed from Monday to today. I had a bad anxiety going in,but kept positive. I have to admit I did not have a good experience. At the end of the procedure I woke up and he was still scoping. There was a nurse who held my arms, and the anesthesiologist assistant was kind and said he was just about done. (Did she misjudge) I was trying to swallow because of the amount of saliva and I was gagging. When he pulled the scope out the nurse, said I coughed throughout the whole procedure. This was really not the experience I was hoping for. My throat is very raw. It's been 13 hours since I have had it done and I still feel terrible. I have petechiae (small broken capillaries) all around my eyes, and bridge of my nose. I must have been coughing hard. I know they did not spray my throat as well. I know that should help with gag reflex. I am actually second guessing my surgery in 2 weeks based upon this experience. Did anyone have a bad egd experience?

    February 17th anyone?

I downloaded my fitness pal. My NUT said not to go by the calories just use the protein part of this app. So am I suppose to just plug my food in and see how many proteins I am taking in??? I am confused. I am eating light this week...he wants to see me start losing g something g before I start my 2 weeks liquid diet which begins on February 2. Surgery is scheduled on February 16. EGD is tomorrow
  6. My hubby is very supportive of my decision to have the gastric sleeve done...my Mom, however has been rolling her eyes and mumbling under her breath. She is a great person and we get along well. She explained to my husband tonight that I should re-think my decision. She would rather see me on Weight Watchers or something where surgery doesn't come into play. She has me really worked up, by telling me this is not safe. I am due on February 16. 8 really don't know if I should back out. I know I have to make my own decision...but...can I have a little guidance? Anyone?

    Alcohol intake

This actually came up in group last night. One gentleman was 2 months post op. Doc did explain that he could drink...occasionally. ..but NOT beer...due to the carbonation. He also explained that persons with by-pass are the people who have elevated alcohol blood levels over someone who did not have surgery or someone who was sleeved. Although you are sleeved you are still going through digestion. Good luck!

    EGD

I go for my EGD on January 26. Surgery is scheduled for February 16. Should I be anxious about the EGD? I guess I don't want to feel like I am choking.
  11. I am not sure what you need to do about the birth control...but I want to congratulate you! I am going on the 16th of February. I look forward to hearing about your journey.

My Story + No Support From Wife

Welcome, BA.... I promise you lots of support here. You have to make this decision for yourself. I too want to be here for myself and my children..and God willing Grandchildren. I have sciatic issues myself. My spinal doctor explained to walk, and use stationery bike and light weights for upper body. We will have a different way of balancing ourselves as the weight comes off, and those of us with lordosis problems from the weight....we need to be careful not to put too much stress on the discs. The added weight right now is enough. I know you will do what is right for you. But I have to ask. ...did you ever think your wife is scared?

    Average surgery time

My doctor told me there will not be a drain. Different techniques I guess.
