    ISO 16/18 and L,XL

I wish I could help but I gave all mine in those sizes away already. I have left some Large and maybe around size 14 and 12 to give out. I live in central florida. I see you are from Fl also.
  3. It all depends on the type of surgery. With my MGB I was able to have plain greek yogurt, clear broths (nothing with cream in it), Gatorade, Tomato juice and V8 juice. Also, I was able to have watermelon with salt added to it. I did unjury Protein, the chicken one. It tastes like chicken Soup. i still use that one now at 8 months post MGB. LIke you, I was not into so much sweets. Good luck! And whatever you try, start small.

    Pureed Stage

At week 3 post MGB I was eating mashed/puree food about 2 to 3 oz at a time. I bought baby bowls and I used to put my food there. Most time I did not even finished what I served there. It takes time to adjust. I used to eat first a few spoonfuls of yogurt. Then I went up to half a container (single serving).

  6. I drink Gatorade, which I still hate, because it is what is good for me post MGB. I was a big Water drinker before and had the same concern you have. At the beginning it was hard to gulp liquids down. Months down the road I can gulp some liquids a couple of gulps at a time instead of small zips. I drink water occasionally, just plain. Most of the time I drink it now is with a fresh squeezed lemon and some ELETE Electrolytes drops in it. It takes time, but you will get used to it. I do it like this by my surgeon's guidance. Others may tell you different. Just sharing my journey with you.
  7. Same procedure of MGB, different doctor's rules. I am not to touch alcohol, coffee or tea again. Lucky for me I dont have a problem with that.

    Question about birth control.

My second pregnancy was on Nuva Ring. After my MGB I had to go on Paraguard Copper IUD after my Mini pill stopped working. Waiting for hubby to have Vasectomy so I can stop it all.

    Hair loss to the max!

Using Head and Shoulders with Zinc, Eating my Protein, taking my Vitamins and Biotin. Trying not to wash my hair too much and extending my monthly color touch up to maybe 6 or 8 weeks instead of every 4. I am still hanging on the hope it will grow back. i lost tons of hair after both of my pregnancies from months 4 to 7 while my post pregnant body adjusted. Got it back both times. Hoping this time returns too after I am at my goal weight.
  13. After my first couple of weeks when I lost more, I was loosing monthly 10 pounds for months 2 thru 5. Month 6 I lost 8 and I am still working on month 7. The closer I get to my goal the slower it gets. I dont look at it weekly since it changes with my girly cycle during the month from week to week. I measure by my clothes and the sizes keep going down. From size 20 to 8 so far.
  14. My doctor told me to not worry about the ups and downs in between now and my goal. I weight myself daily to learn how my body reacts during the month. I ve learned in 7 month that my weight peaks before my menstrual cycle and during ovulation, then it drops more. Like it was mentioned before, focus on eating and doing what you need to be doing. The weight will come off. Good luck. Just keep your eyes on the goal.
  15. Once 1 was taken care of, number 2 became my strongest obstacle. I have to put everything down on my faith to get through it. My parents were very supportive. My husband was scared because of lack of knowledge but got on board eventually and my journey started.

Guess what? You just got a new job!

I never had the "I'm full" button in me until my surgery. And I know some think it is just getting the surgery as an "easy way out" but it is a lot of work before and after surgery. I feel myself explaining to some that I did it for medical reasons. I do tell everyone that it is a tool and not a miracle. We have to do our part too. Work on it. For sure not the "easy way out". Very nice post.
  17. I do lots of left overs because I cook for the family. My meals are adapted from what I cook for them. Ex: instead of rice, I have quinoa or a veggie(eggplant or asparragus) with the meat of the day. It takes me a few meals to eat an eggplant so if the boys want fast food one day, I can easyly pick up for them and then I can have from the left overs at home. I always save from the day before to take to lunch the next day. It can be done. It takes some tweaking but I get my healthy eating done. 7 months post op and I still measure. I use a baby bowl. It is what I know I feel comfortable eating so I serve there and then put it in a plate. Same thing when I pack for next day. They take out bowls some times are big and I dont use my eyes or should I say dont trust my eyes to serve my to-go lunch for the next day so I serve it on the baby bowl and then dump it in the regular bowl I am taking to work. It helps me keep portions in check.
  18. I got my news from work in March. I was given 3 options (RNY, Lapband or MGB). I went right away to research. My appointments were separate. I had several appts with my Main doctor, others with my surgeon, another with the psychologist, labs...etc. That took a few other weeks. By May I had a date in June, My choice because I wanted to wait until the kids were out of school. I dont think yours is too soon. Your new journey is just around the corner. Very exciting!
  19. Which procedure are you having done? I got my MGB done with a pilot program at work too.

My Partner says "you took the easy way"

It happens. Focus on the new you. Don't look back. You still have an amazing journey ahead of you. You don't need his baggage. He is the one with the issues. Good luck!
  21. Everyone's journey is different. I know it is hard to find information out there about MGB. All I can do is share from my experience. I had a one night stay at the hospital. I followed surgeon's orders to the max. First two weeks I only had liquids (tomato juice, Gatorade, chicken broth,, yogurt). I was allowed some saltine crackers and watermelon with salt on it. The next two weeks, I was allowed mash food only. I tried potato, mashed tilapia, baked beans, mashed veggies. Everything I tried, I tested first by itself to see what kind of reaction I got to it. There are people who can not tolerate sugar, other dairy, etc...after surgery. I did not have heavy reactions to food. There were some I tried and did not go down well at the begining but weeks later, I tried again and it worked. An example of that were eggs. I could not get them down the first month to maybe two months after MGB. Now I have one for bfast daily. After , the first moth I started trying foods. Making sure I would have small bites and chew well. Testing like before, an item at a time to watch for reactions. Up to this day ( 7 mo out) I stay away from rice, pasta and most bread. I dont eat fried food anymore. I stay away from junk food/fast foods. I did try a bake potato from Wendys the other day and it settled well. I follow my Surgeons advise so I dont drink coffee, tea, alcohol and I dont smoke. I dont drink sodas or anything with gas in it. I dont use a straw. I dont drink while I eat. I dont take Ibuprofen or Naproxen anymore. I am following his directions to take care of my new stomach. So far, it is working well. Good luck with yours and let me know if you have any questions I can answer. You will be on this side of the journey before you know it.

    RNY or Mini Gastric Bypass?

I looked into both MGB and RNY. The MGB is both revisable and reversable. I went with MGB after researching the options. I have a great surgeon, Dr. C Peraglie in Florida. I can only say great things about the MGB and how it saved my life. Everyone's journey is different. Inform yourself. For me it was the best thing I have done for myself. I am 7 months out. Lost 89 pounds so far. I am no longer on cholesterol and Blood Pressure medicine. No longer a pre diabetic. I have great energy. Feel great! Now I can keep up with my kids.
