    popcorn?

Wow! I thought popcorn was banned. My doc said it was a no-no, so I haven't had any since probably August (before being banded) I've gone to the movies several times since being banded and the smell didn't even make me want any.

    Houston Ladies!

I don't know- I guess I'm self-conscious of shopping in regular sized stores. I went shopping out of absolute necessity over the weekend, and still made a b-line for Lane Bryant. I guess the good thing about it is that I'm now in their smallest size 14/16. I've seen plus-sized clothes in JC Penney- go to the Women's section, I believe that's what it's called.
  4. My doc was aggressive with my fills- I don't know if my stomach is small or what. He put in 0.8 at the time of surgery, then 1.0 for my first fill, and I was still hungry with 1.8. Then another 0.6 for my 2nd fill. I'm currently at 2.4cc and I have good restriction.
  5. Hey Dee- it's underneath the last row of smilies, looks like this: <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=4 align=center border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=bottom align=middle><TD>:speechles</TD><TD>:angry</TD><TD></TD><TD></TD><TD>:cry</TD></TR><TR><TD class=smallfont colSpan=5>[More]</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
  6. Kim- yep, it's the swelling. I found that in the first week or so after being banded, if I take a walk then the pressure subsides. I took gas-x too, but it didn't help at all for me.
  7. when you start writing a post or replying to one, click on "go advanced". A sample of the smilies will be to the right. Click on the "more" link and all of them will come up in a new dialog box. Hope this helps! :clap2:

    Goal question?

I'm 5'5" medium build and the BMI chart says my "ideal" range would be 115-150 lbs. I set my original goal as 150 because I want to keep my curves, then I thought it doesn't matter the weight, I just want to get down to a size 14. I'm at a size 16 now, but I don't like how I look yet- my stomach area is still too big for my taste, everything else is good. Before I got the band, my surgeon suggested 160, so I just recently changed my goal to 160. Ultimately, the number doesn't matter, just wherever you feel most comfortable. I have never gone by those "ideal" weight charts. They expect you to be skin and bones! I weighed about 130 when I was in high school and I didn't realize it then, but I was a stick!
  13. My cousin is built exactly the way you are. Beautiful Amazon woman! 5'10" with a large build, and she has to order her shoes from Frederick's of Hollywood because they are the only ones who carry a size 12 in women's. Anyway, she has been struggling with her weight, and she says her ideal weight would be around 180-190.
  14. exactly what they said Oh yeah, and over the Christmas holiday, my family put on a talent show. I was able to dance through an entire 3 1/2 minute song with my daughter in 3" heels without huffing and puffing, and my feet didn't hurt from dancing in heels!
  15. OK- I had my 2nd fill about 4 weeks ago. Aunt Flo is supposed to come visit within the next 1-3 days. Today for lunch, I ordered a chicken caesar salad from the deli in my building. Before banding, I could eat the whole thing no problem (of course!). After banding, I was able to eat 1/2 of it and take the rest home for later. Not today! I only ate about 1/4 if even that much, and I am totally stuffed! Now I think I see what the other ladies mean when they say you are tighter around that time of the month.
  16. As I was eating lunch today, I knew I had seen a thread about chick-fil-a. I took a bite of a chicken tender and ow! ow! ow! Then I did just like Desiree in the link below and drank some tea. Literally could not swallow. More pain. To the bathroom I go- sliming! Needless to say, no more chick-fil-a for me ever again! I don't want that experience anymore. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=12403&page=2&highlight=chick-fil
  17. Oooh, danger! :hungry: But seriously, after my first fill I was still able to eat flour tortillas. I haven't tried to since my 2nd fill though.

    New and confused.

I think it's a matter of your doctor's preference. My doctor filled mine to 0.8cc at the time of surgery.

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

start: 1/3/06 210 lbs 1/8/06 205 lbs (-5) -- I totally got back on track this week! NSV- my supervisor hadn't seen me in two weeks (over the holidays) and she said My God, you're getting smaller! I hadn't lost any additional weight between Christmas & New Years, so that really made me feel good and realize that even though you're not losing pounds, you're probably losing inches! That being said, here's NSV #2 NSV 2- I bought a pair of pants just before Christmas and I hadn't worn them until one day last week I wore them to work. They fit looser. NSV 3- I moved down one BMI category (from severely obese to obese)
