    Metformin after surgery?

I was taking Metformin for PCOS. My surgeon had me take it up until the day before my surgery. I have not taken it since my surgery (I am 6 weeks out) because she said that it can drop your blood sugar too low since we don't have a lot of food in our systems. She said that down the road, once we are eating again, she will do bloodworm and see if I need it then.

    Can you see the loss?

I see a huge difference. You look great! Keep it up! I agree with keeping track of your measurements. When the scale is not budging, that is he only way I can tell that I am losing!

    questions about surgery

Hello. Here was my experience: 1. I did not have a catheter. 2. I was in the hospital for two days and wore the gown during that time. 3. My husband and parents were allowed two short visits to me in the recovery room. I was in there for an extra long time because my blood pressure was out of control.

3 weeks out today really bummed

I am 5 weeks post-op today and felt the same way. I started feeling a bit better a few days ago. It's funny, I always hated fish and I've been craving it now too! What we're going through will pass. Good luck!
  7. I will say that I had a lot of body pain. I was sleeved on Feb. 16 and while the pain has subsided, I am still sore. It does get better little by little. Good luck!

    Nausea Anxiety Depression insomnia

I feel the same way. I am 5 weeks out, am always nauseous, am anxious and depressed and hormonal and haven't lost any weight in two weeks. I'm really starting to question, and maybe even regret, my choice.

    I am not losing weight

I was sleeved on February 16. I went from 278 to 254 in the first two weeks. Since then I have not lost anything. I am in the same boat.

    Substitutes for broth?

How about diluted juices - apple juice, white grape juice, white cranberry juice? I was allowed to have them diluted (1/2 juice & 1/2 water) during my Clear liquids phase.
  11. Hello. Tomorrow I will be one month post-op. For the last week I have been constantly nauseous. I'm having a hard time getting my fluids in. I've tried water, hot tea, iced tea, cold drinks, room temperature, everything I can think of. The only thing that goes down well is juice, which I am trying to avoid because of the sugar and calories. Also, the thought of eating is repulsive to me. The only thing that doesn't turn me off is applesauce. I start my soft solid phase on Tuesday and am worried. Is this normal? Will it pass? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  12. I cut out artificial sweeteners years ago as well and am also struggling now. It seems as though more and more products are starting to use Stevia. I have been trying to stick to those.

    What's next? ?

I signed my consent forms in the hospital on the day of my surgery.

    Drainage tube?!?

Not everyone gets one. It depends on the surgeon. I had one in for five days. It is just a tube that drains into a little receptacle. It does not hurt at all.

Two weeks out and not losing :(

I am in my fourth week and have not lost anything in over a week. It is so frustrating and I am getting very down about it. I am doing everything I should be but the weight is just not budging!

I lost 20 pounds in the first two weeks as well. Now I am going into my second week of my third week stall.

    Working out?

I am in my pureed stage and can only walk for about twenty minutes before getting too tired. I spoke to my doctor today and she said that it will get better/easier as we are able to eat more.

    Coffee?

I am not allowed coffee until week 6. At that point, I am allowed one 6 ounce cup per day. My doctor said that caffeine is a diuretic and, since we are already working so hard to stay hydrated, it is counterproductive.
  20. I just started the second stage (puréed & moist and mushy). I know that we are supposed to stop eating when we are full. This might be a stupid question but how do I know when I'm full? I'm not even hungry at all. I am just eating because I have to and am scared to overdo it.

    Are the drains painful?

I had my surgery two weeks ago today. I also had a drain but had to keep it in for five days. I was terrified of it! However, I found that it was not painful at all when it was in and I didn't even feel it when they were pulling it out!

    Bruising Post Surgery

I had my surgery on February 16 and I have the same bruise. It looks like one of their tools were leaning there. It has not gotten any worse. Maybe you should check with your surgeon?
  23. I'm 41 and had my surgery two weeks ago.
  24. I want to thank everyone for their advice and encouragement. I spoke to my husband about that comment today. I told him how shocked I was and how much it hurt. He said that he meant that seeing me in such a fragile state and knowing how much pain I'm still in, he is afraid to hurt me. Other than that comment, he has been wonderful during this process. Maybe I misinterpreted his comments, maybe not. I believe his explanation for now and we'll see. I remain focused on myself and the positive changes that I am making. Than you all!
  25. Mine was 2 hours. But they also did an endoscopy with it.
