  1. Hi there - a fellow Brit!

I also had my band fitted using the SILS method over a year ago and the scar is completely unnoticable. It's a tiny line to the left but is now completely same colour as my skin. It was quite red when I first had it done though. You'd have to get eye level with my belly button and shine a torch in to notice it now.

  2. I was banded in January and it's not been all plain sailing but I am 50lb down. My 3 rescue dogs are responsible for half of this - I'm sure of it. I say get the rescue dog now, chances are they won't have been exercised much stuck in a dog pound and you can get fit together. That's exactly what happened to me. Now we walk two miles every evening and the best bit is my ankles don't swell any more. :)

  3. Hi I just wanted to update this because you were all kind enough to reply. Well I got a 2cc fill and I kind of feel something if I eat really quickly but apart from that I feel nothing. Like last night I had a curry poppdoms naan bread and felt NOTHING!!! just scoffed it. Anyway the good news is that I have actually kept losing weight,(yesterday was a treat not the norm) mainly because I found exercise I love which was a complete fluke - I'm now 42 pounds down. I still feel like I'm going it alone though and if I wasn't busting my backside exercise wise I'm pretty sure I'd have stuck. I'm getting another fill in a couple of weeks so hopefully I'll feel something then. Thanks all x

  4. Hi. I'm really messaging for a little moan because the only person who knows I'm banded is my husband and we are military and he is away and I'm stuck on a military base with people who don't know anything about it!! I was banded on 17th January and between then and my first fill I was killing it and losing steadily - I lost 30 pounds. I was then filled for the first time on 3rd march I had 2cc in the band they took that out and put 4cc in so effectively a fill of 4cc. Since then I have felt no restriction and can just eat and eat - I'm actually starting to wonder whether the band snapped or broke it is doing nothing - I can eat a greek meze no trouble for example. I have not put weight on but have yoyo'd between being a pig then reigning it in then returning to being a pig and have lost and put back on the same 7lbs. I get filled Friday and the scales will show me as sticking and I've kind of lost the faith. Feels like a big waste of money. Has anyone else been able to eat anything? and I'm talking big curry naan bread poppadoms all in one sitting?

  5. Hi,

I have a question that is really bothering me. Say, for example, I was to catch a stomach bug (I work in a school). Could I actually vomit from my actual stomach with the band? Or can I only vomit from the pouch above the band? It worries me because what if I get food poisoning? Will I just explode? :o I'm 4 weeks out nearly and haven't vomited or felt I needed to. Anyone any experience of this?

  6. Hi I was banded on the 17th January and flew from the UK to back home to Cyprus on the 27th January which is a 5 hour flight. I was banded by Professor Favretti in London and had the SILS (single insision) basically they went through my belly button and I have zero scars, not even on my port - if you google Professor Favretti he played a big part in developing the lapband - basically, he's the guy! So here is exactly what he said.......

I asked him personally on the day of my surgery because I was getting conflicting advice and he said "in terms of the band - in theory you could fly tomorrow, it is the length of time you have to sit and the discomfort that will cause that is the problem" he asked me the date of my flight and he said "that is plenty of time". I think what he was getting at is that flying doesn't cause any structural problems with the band it is the actual incisions that are the issue early after surgery - again I had single incision so maybe that's different than the 5 incision way but I had no problems flying picking up my suitcase etc ten days after surgery. I think I could have flown a week after and I was so roouuuggghhhhh after surgery. Like really ill for two days.

I know this is a long answer but I was anxious about this same issue and so wanted to tell you exactly. Good Luck!
