  1. Did you have it done through healthier weight?
  2. Hi there - a fellow Brit! I also had my band fitted using the SILS method over a year ago and the scar is completely unnoticable. It's a tiny line to the left but is now completely same colour as my skin. It was quite red when I first had it done though. You'd have to get eye level with my belly button and shine a torch in to notice it now.
  3. Hi, Hapy New Year!! what is stacking? Does it mean eating too much for the band - i googled and nothing came up. Hopeyou're feeling better now.
  4. Hi, I am aware that the lapband fills are more of an art than a science and that everybody is different but just out of curiosity how many cc's and how many fills did you have before you hit the green zone? I'd go first but I'm not there yet but slowly slowly etc.
  5. Wow - that's impressive!!! well done you. It's so important to have positive stories. Keep going!!! x

    Flying 4 weeks after surgery

I flew about 11 days after surgery and it was fine. I didn't eat it was only five hours. It's to do with the cabin pressure potentially making the band a bit tighter apparently.
  7. Thanks for the replies. Yes I am still on liquids after fill so don't know if it's worked yet. I had my volume checked too and I found it really painful!! There was no leak though and it had the right amount of Fluid - I'm starting to think it's just not going to work for me. :/ @Hope41- sounds like your eating is mostly going well. I ca eat anything I like at times too. *sigh*
  8. Hi, I'm going to bring this back to the original topic of fills ladies. I'm sure there's a separate thread about Canadian insurance somewhere. I had a fill yesterday, I'm now at 9.5 in a 10cc band. Once I have finished the liquid phase I'm hoping to be in the green zone - is anyone elses band this full? It's a little worrying!!!
  9. Thanks for taking the time to reply professor. I think I might be at green too then. I think I'm waiting for a hard stop every time whereas I don't think that is the idea really. I do get the hiccups and then stop eating so I think that might be it. good luck with the rest of your weight loss x
  10. That's interesting professor. Could I ask you to describe what the green zone feels like for you? Are you getting a hard stop or just little signs? I'm still confused about whether I'm there or not.
  11. What does your doctor tell you to do after each fill? Do you have to stay on liquids and puree for a week? I've heard conflicting things.

    I Walk Alone!

I was banded in January and it's not been all plain sailing but I am 50lb down. My 3 rescue dogs are responsible for half of this - I'm sure of it. I say get the rescue dog now, chances are they won't have been exercised much stuck in a dog pound and you can get fit together. That's exactly what happened to me. Now we walk two miles every evening and the best bit is my ankles don't swell any more.
  13. It's so interesting how different amounts impact different people. I'm at 7.2 in a 10cc band. Another fill friday which should make me green. Good luck everyone. I'm trying not to get frustrated but am still telling myself it's just bandster hell.
  14. Hi. I'm really messaging for a little moan because the only person who knows I'm banded is my husband and we are military and he is away and I'm stuck on a military base with people who don't know anything about it!! I was banded on 17th January and between then and my first fill I was killing it and losing steadily - I lost 30 pounds. I was then filled for the first time on 3rd march I had 2cc in the band they took that out and put 4cc in so effectively a fill of 4cc. Since then I have felt no restriction and can just eat and eat - I'm actually starting to wonder whether the band snapped or broke it is doing nothing - I can eat a greek meze no trouble for example. I have not put weight on but have yoyo'd between being a pig then reigning it in then returning to being a pig and have lost and put back on the same 7lbs. I get filled Friday and the scales will show me as sticking and I've kind of lost the faith. Feels like a big waste of money. Has anyone else been able to eat anything? and I'm talking big curry naan bread poppadoms all in one sitting?

Ugh I was doing so good.. :-(

You are in what's known as 'bandster hell'. If you search this forum or google the term "bandster Hell" you will find lots of links to info about this - you are not alone!
  16. oh by "stuck" I mean my weight would have stuck, not food would have stuck!!
  17. Hi I just wanted to update this because you were all kind enough to reply. Well I got a 2cc fill and I kind of feel something if I eat really quickly but apart from that I feel nothing. Like last night I had a curry poppdoms naan bread and felt NOTHING!!! just scoffed it. Anyway the good news is that I have actually kept losing weight,(yesterday was a treat not the norm) mainly because I found exercise I love which was a complete fluke - I'm now 42 pounds down. I still feel like I'm going it alone though and if I wasn't busting my backside exercise wise I'm pretty sure I'd have stuck. I'm getting another fill in a couple of weeks so hopefully I'll feel something then. Thanks all x
  18. Thanks so much for the encouragement - it's really appreciated. My second fill is on friday 8th so not long. Bandista I am going to read those links right now - thanks
  19. I can relate to this @KaeCDavis. I was banded on 7th jan and was filled march 3rd. I had less restriction after the first fill than before and feel my weight loss has stalled because of this. I can eat as if the band isn't there at all and I am hungry. I'm hoping my next fill next week will make me feel something. :/
  20. Hi, I have a question that is really bothering me. Say, for example, I was to catch a stomach bug (I work in a school). Could I actually vomit from my actual stomach with the band? Or can I only vomit from the pouch above the band? It worries me because what if I get food poisoning? Will I just explode? I'm 4 weeks out nearly and haven't vomited or felt I needed to. Anyone any experience of this?
  21. Hi veterans, I am curious about long term success. I used to run in my younger days (would KILL me now!) and I'd like to aim to do this again as I up my exercise. My question is as the distances I can run get further, will be able to eat enough food to sustain me? This is a real goal of mine and I can't find the answer to this. I know I can adjust the band but what quantity of food can you actually eat - I don't want to have to up my calories with the wrong stuff. ie sliders. what is the maximum portion you can eat for long term management? Would love some guidance
  22. thanks for the replies. I have no intention of vomiting it's just I'm a teacher and end up with a stomach bug once a year on average! Thanks for the advice

Me too. I was told 2 weeks. In regard to my post above, the man was asking about post surgery so that's what my answer was based on.

    Travel/Plane

Hi I was banded on the 17th January and flew from the UK to back home to Cyprus on the 27th January which is a 5 hour flight. I was banded by Professor Favretti in London and had the SILS (single insision) basically they went through my belly button and I have zero scars, not even on my port - if you google Professor Favretti he played a big part in developing the lapband - basically, he's the guy! So here is exactly what he said....... I asked him personally on the day of my surgery because I was getting conflicting advice and he said "in terms of the band - in theory you could fly tomorrow, it is the length of time you have to sit and the discomfort that will cause that is the problem" he asked me the date of my flight and he said "that is plenty of time". I think what he was getting at is that flying doesn't cause any structural problems with the band it is the actual incisions that are the issue early after surgery - again I had single incision so maybe that's different than the 5 incision way but I had no problems flying picking up my suitcase etc ten days after surgery. I think I could have flown a week after and I was so roouuuggghhhhh after surgery. Like really ill for two days. I know this is a long answer but I was anxious about this same issue and so wanted to tell you exactly. Good Luck!
