    December sleevers

Sleeved on 12/23... Also feeling anxious about being able to eat more... At a bit of a stall... No loss for a week or so. Total loss around 60lbs. Still need to lose 40-50 lbs and feeling anxious I won't get there or wil start gaining and yes I am losing hair too!
  2. The advice everyone is giving is to get your protein like the surgeon recommends. I think most of us went through the period of not really feeling like eating or drinking but you are supposed to get your protein to heal your body and start your weight loss. It is more of a project to do it in the beginning but follow guidelines given by surgeon about protein goals for best results.
  3. Sam's has a chicken kale and sweet potato soup from Panera bread that I puréed when I was in that stage and now just eat as is

    really struggling

I think the liquid and purée stages are hard because if you have a family it can feel really isolating not to have food with them. I am almost 4 months out and I really enjoy eating out. I get salmon and broccoli or chicken and veggies and I always have leftovers for the next meal or two. You'll get there with enjoying food again.

    December Sleevers

Sorry to hear about your horrible experience. My doc was not thrilled when I only lost 9.5 lbs in second month and I felt like crap when I left the office. I was sleeved on Dec. 23 and I've lost 40 since surgery and 57 overall including pre-op diet. I am constantly scared that I am not losing enough or fast enough

    Dumping?

I accidentally drank almost an entire vitamin water that I thought was a vitamin water zero. I drink one vitamin water zero per day and today I tried a new flavor and didn't realize I had accidentally bought one with sugar. Absolutely horrible experience! Thankfully the real horror didn't kick in until I had made it home from work.

    How old are/were you?

42... Wish I had done it 10 years ago

    Do you count carbs?

I am 7 weeks out and only allowed 25 grams of carbs. It is really difficult to stay that low. Vitamin water zero for example has 4-5 carbs. A half a banana has 16 carbs so I usually get between 30-35.

    Change in sleep patterns

Having a lot of trouble with insomnia, early morning waking. I normally get up around 4:30 for work but now am waking around 2 and can't get back to sleep. I am 6 weeks out from surgery and it has happened all but two nights. I never had this problem before surgery.

    Is it really a stall?

    Thank you!
  11. I think so many people are overweight that when you are actually the right size people take that as too skinny. Look at photos of people in the 60's... Everyone looks thin.

    Baggy or fitted?

Thrift stores and Clothes Mentor if you have one near you. They will also buy your clothes so you can buy more in smaller sizes
  13. Two weeks of fluids for me and now I am starting my second week of purée. I still rely on a shake everyday because takes so long to get blended food in. I don't mind the diet. Most of the time I feel indifferent to food now. It doesn't bother me when people eat delicious foods in front of me, I just feel neutral about the food. I hope this lasts forever but not sure if this is just a short lived feeling. I am 3 weeks out... Any veterans that can comment on this?

    Hi all! I'm new!

Thanks- it was a very rough beginning, but today I am feeling good. No regrets!

    Hi all! I'm new!

And I am not really sure how to figure the weight anyway.. So much is edema in the beginning. I was 278.5 on Dec 11 at pre-op visit, then 271.5 day of surgery and got home from hospital and weighed 286 thanks to all the fluids. ( I had internal bleeding and got transfusions and fluids for 3 days) Today at 16 days for my follow up visit 258.

    Hi all! I'm new!

I think your weight loss is great. Not even a month out. I was sleeved on dec. 23. I can relate to the feeling of losing muscle especially in my legs but I feel confident that once we resume exercise routine this will rebuild.
  17. My daily intake is one premier protein shake, one bariWise chicken bullion and one blended homemade chicken soup..about half a cup. I also drink one vitamin water zero and about another 10 oz of plain water. It feels like a big project to get all that in. I am getting about 60 grams of protein and just under 400 calories. I gained at least 10lbs in the hospital with all the fluids, the bleeding and the 3 blood transfusions. I am down 28lbs from weight when I got home from hospital and 18lbs from weight morning of surgery- 2 weeks today.
  18. Sleeved 23 December. I had internal bleeding so wasn't discharged until 26th. Takes all day to get in required liquids and protein. It takes me about 2.5 hours to drink protein shake. Went back to work yesterday... Desk job. A little tired and sometimes difficulty concentrating on tasks more mentally challenging.
  19. My teeth have yellowed too and I am only 13 days out. I brush, floss, use mouthwash and brush my tongue. What is going on? And will it remedy itself or will I need to have them whitened?
  20. I had an internal bleed so I was in the hospital for 4 days and needed 3 blood transfusions.
