    Today is the day

Best wishes for a quick recovery!
  3. How do you all think something like this would cook on a George Foreman or similar type of grill? I'm so ready for soft foods later this week (Friday).

    Heartburn.....

Completely agree -- talk to your Dr. Hope you hear back soon. I'm taking 20mg Famotidine (Pepcid) in the morning and 40mg at night. I think it's still working itself out as I feel like I may have acid reflux as I type. It's s few hours before I can take my next dose. I didn't notice any issues the first few days. I've noticed that eating later in the evening may aggravate this for me. I think yogurt possibly aggravates this for me as well. I didn't have this issue prior to surgery and am hoping that it clears up as my body heals and I drop weight.
  5. Hey @@judyoz - I started this topic in a forum called "rants and raves" to avoid calling any particular person out within the original thread. I didn't do it to be mean or nasty, just to vent.
  6. I do not remember it hurting while it was in. I do remember some tenderness and bruising once it was removed.
  7. My opinion -- I'm not sure you're going to be able to alleviate their concerns. It doesn't hurt to try though (if you have the energy/patience for it). Though I already find "Health NUT" wildly out of step and possibly unswayable based on your own comments. Just lay it all out there (don't mince words) and tell them to hold their questions until you are finished speaking. Tell them to hold any negative comments indefinitely. Have the conversation once, tell them their concerns are noted and their support is expected. You don't have to rebut everything someone has to say. I'm sure you've had discussions with doctors, nutritionists, etc., and have come to your decision after much consideration. Oh and sorry... But concern #3 - someone could stfu if that's what was actually said. RUDE.

    11 days post op VSG

It sounds like you're doing great - congrats! My recommendation is to stop weighing daily, lest you become obsessed with minor fluctuations. For all anyone knows you peed less or something. :-)

    Lost my mind!

It wasn't very considerate of him and I understand the reaction. Some people have a lot of luck with the counting to 10 or 20 thing (before speaking). Someone mentioned to me that we could make little cards or signs to give to people - the thought being that they could hold them up if you are going off the deep end or something. I didn't follow this advice and haven't needed anything like it (yet). I'm not sure how I would respond if someone held a sign/card up at me anyway.
  10. It's very odd -- my incisions (or areas very near) them have all been more painful feeling. I thought it was just one area yesterday, but it's really all them today. I'm calling my Dr tomorrow, just to be more certain. Hopefully it means we are all healing up!
  11. Thanks everyone. I will call the Dr on Monday. I found all of your answers helpful!
  12. So, I'm probably overreacting, but I have this "twinge" I'm feeling about 1.5 inches below and slightly to the right of my largest incision (left side, lower abdomen). This is near the incision that they used to remove the stomach (I'm told). It's not painful, it just feels odd. Maybe I pulled something getting in and out of the car? I am on my 17th day post-op. I don't feel anything protruding, but it's hard for me to really tell by poking/pressing on my belly. I called the surgeon's office but they are closed today and this doesn't qualify as an emergency to me. I will call them back on Monday, but in the meantime - any thoughts anyone? Thanks!

    Bummed with this section...

Yeah, it's kind-of dead in here.
  14. They should take the ads off of bariatricpal.com if the company is fishy.

    Cheated already!

Skip the shame and just acknowledge the fact that you did not stay on plan AND get back on the wagon and kick-ass. :-) You can do it!

    Pain Meds After Sleeve Surgery

I take 1/2 a pain pill (oxy/acetaminophen) at night to help sleep more comfortably. I generally haven't needed to take them during the day. I think I will be able to eliminate the bedtime pill soon. Best of luck to everyone,
  17. I am counting from my pre-surgical diet weight here. However, my surgeon's office only counts from the last office visit prior to surgery, which makes for a lower loss in their records.

    Fairlife milk?

I'm going to go buy some of this tomorrow!

    Not Hungry

I'm starting day 14, should be doing purées (per my plan) and have done a couple. I'm not hungry in general, but I'm also apprehensive about eating - specifically I'm afraid of pain/pressure/vomiting. At this point I'm trying to get my Protein to 60g and my Water high enough to prevent dehydration. It's kind of exhausting so I'm glad I have some more time off of work.

FLMA How/When to notify your employer

I requested the FMLA paperwork from HR as soon as I knew my surgery date. This gave me about 3.5 weeks to get everything approved. I am taking at least 4 weeks off. Tomorrow I will be 10 days into my leave. I can go up to 6 weeks and continue to be paid, but I would like to save some PTO time in case I need it for something fun. :-)
  22. I wasn't very hungry so no going insane here. I just did what I could. You may find that you'll have to force yourself to eat/remind yourself to eat. Timers help. Good luck:
