  1. I am an ICU nurse, not your doctor, but I can tell you this: NSAIDs are corrosive to the linings of your digestive tract. Your have very little gastric breakdown because you have a small pouch. That ibuprofen will erode in the places where the new connections have been made. This could lead to a leak and potentially very serious complications. Talk to your doc about options, but don't fool with the ibuprofen. Seriously. There are very good reasons why your doctor warned you against it.
  2. Just before two weeks post op, at a gathering at my home, my little dog decided to get scrappy with one of my best friends little dogs. I stooped to scoop her up and a searing white pain tore through my abdomen. I went to the ER. Nothing serious it appears, but I absolutely cannot utilize my core. Has this happened to anyone else? I know moms with small children will have something like this happen from time to time. Have you got any strategies to improve mobilization with a terribly painful stomach?

    3 weeks post op

(Also 3 weeks postoperative) I just discovered isoprene. It is amazingly easy to take in. I have been doing the premiere protein, but I have gotten tired of the milky texture. I still drink it, but it feels heavy and chalky. Isopure is like drinking Gatorade or something. It's clear, light and it has a whopping 40g of protein. Zero carbs so, how can that be bad?. I feel better today after getting a couple of these drinks down. I hope this helps you.

    3 days

I am three weeks post-op. My sister did this a year and a half ago and she has been my mentor. My experience is that there are going to be down days when you question your decision. It seems to be part of the journey. I can only go by what my sister has experienced and she says that this is the best thing she has ever done. One day maybe you and I can say the same.

RNY 4 Month Post Op Update

I am three weeks post-op yesterday. I'm kind of in the heat of the struggle right now. Hearing about your success and that things didn't get better for you is giving me the courage to continue. Keep the good news coming!

    Complications at 15 days out

TPN is total parental nutrition. It means that you are receiving nutrients through you veins and not your gastric system. Bless your heart. I'll keep a good thought for you.
