Nomoresupertreesa got a reaction from Alora VSG Begonia in Breastfeeding With Sleeve
I love this thread. I know it's ancient but I feel it's really important so I'll put my experience in too.
I was sleeved 13 days ago. I am still nursing my 16 month old daughter perfectly well. I nurse 4-5x a day and she has had no complaints. I asked the staff at my clinic if I could continue to breastfeed during all my preop appts and they said no. That I "couldn't" while I was on the 2 week preop diet because it wouldn't be safe for baby. (It's just low calorie, high Protein food. Nothing unsafe there.)
They also said I couldn't because of the anesthesia. (I wasn't gonna nurse in the hospital anyways. In fact, I didn't even pump. I didn't get engorged until nearly 24 hrs after my surgery. I tried to hand express but I gave up quickly. My boobs don't like giving up milk for anything but baby.) I was released from the hospital 36 hrs after surgery and went straight to my baby and nursed perfectly fine.
They also said that I would get so few calories after surgery that I "wouldn't" be able to nurse. I have averaged 500 calories a day and she hasn't complained yet.
Don't wean unless you want to.

I did read about that and asked my OB about this she said the nutrition in breastmilk trumps any "toxins" that you could emit to your baby by simply losing weight. There have been several reports of actual metal toxins found in formula not to mention plastics leeching from bottles. Back to topic my OB said "Does that even sound right? A mother naturally loses weight after having a baby, do you think nature would make it to where her new baby would be ingesting toxins?" Both of mine are weaned now but I nursed my eldest after my vsg and he's doing amazingly. Had NO issues what-so-ever!

Nomoresupertreesa got a reaction from thick2thin in February sleevers
I was sleeved feb 18th. The healing is going well. I was able to get 3 Protein drinks in plus about 40oz of other fluids. I have a fair amount of muscle pain and occasionally I drink too fast and make my sleeve angry. No nausea yet except when I took two pills back to back. I'm learning how to treat my sleeve nice and I know it will treat me nice back.
I am REALLY looking forward purées in 2 weeks.

Feb 18, so I am on day 3. So far no nausea or vomitting. It is tough getting fluids in. I am making sure my fluids and Protein are the same thing. I had 8 oz Protein Shake, mixed with milk 39 g protein, it took me 2hrs 45 min to get it down. Now I am sipping on Isopure mixed with Powerade zero. I have been walking. I am not even remotely hungry, watching people eat doesn't bother me at all.

We all? Nope, no judgement here.
I simply stated what I'd do/not do. Just like gay marriage/interracial marriage/inter-faith marriage/plural marriage/kidless marriage/no marriage, what others choose to do as consenting adults has no bearing on me.

    This is so cliche.
    You're in a bad relationship.
    He's in an open marriage.
    Right.
    You're unhappy.
    He's always loved you.
    Right.
This will keep us entertained for about three months.
That's about how long these things take to build up, bang, and go bust.

The other man has an "open" relationship with his wife. Yeah, right. That's what they all say....
Either figure out your relationship, or end it. Then move on to having coffee with other men. Unmarried ones, preferably.

Personally, I wouldn't have coffee with a married man no matter how "open" their relationship might be.

Well, If this was me, I would first sever all ties with current relationship before pursuing another one, with that being said if this man your going to meet for coffee is a good friend that's 1 thing...but I'm from the old school unless his wife knows you and knows that you two are friends and going to have coffee.than I wouldn't meet him. I don't believe nor condone cheating in any sense of the word...and if he leaves his current wife for your....he will leave you for another woman.
And if your in Therapy to help your relationship..why would you even think/dream of having coffee with another man. Fix or end the relationship your in now first.
Once a cheater always a cheater. Wrong...so very Wrong!!
Just my 2 cents of course.

Nomoresupertreesa got a reaction from Idonerds in Hey, what are you most looking forward to? (Other than being post-op...)
I'm being sleeved on February 18th and I am looking forward to
    - keeping up with my little kids
    - not having 3x shirts be tight and having to tug them down all the time
    - looking like a "normal" couple with my husband. He is 145lb and I'm 320. We look like an old fashioned nursery rhyme.
    - buying new cute shoes as my feet shrink.

Eff em'. Seriously the best thing I ever learned was not to care about what other people think. I don't mean be rude, just stop allowing it to hurt your feeling or belittle you. You can't control what others say about you, you can only control how you respond. Once you stop caring it often deflates any petty thing someone says.

Ill admit it...I'm scared. For me traveling is a HUGE part of my life. I love to explore new countries and part of that is discovering new food in those countires. I am scared that I will never be able to do another food walking tour, never be able to try the Best of... I'm scared travling is going to SUCK for me now
But outside of that I'm afraid that Ill never be able to eat pizza, or in n out...
