I called the insurance company today and was told I was approved. Just waiting for them to send the letter to the DR. My date is January 16th.

@@allyray I'm having the same issue. My sons are 15 and 17 and I waited til I was approved for surgery before I told them. I knew it would be a difficult conversation, and I was right. I would say their reactions were as expected. At first they were angry. Then I explained how this surgery was gonna help me be healthier and I won't be on medicine anymore. Then they were sad, saying you don't need this, just go to the gym and eat healthy. Then they became concerned about complications. Needless to say I was a basket case. I cried and cried. I talked to a friend who said, maybe I should show them some more info and let them see the results of others on this journey. Needless to say, it worked!!! That and lots of prayer. Now I feel a little more at ease. They are not 100% but I'll take it. I am scheduled for a Feb 2, 2015 surgery. My prayers go out to you. Good luck on your journey.

@@allyray Well tough tit!! They shouldn't be making you feel bad! And if he is embarrassed I'm sure you can come up with some embarrassing stuff they did growing up so he will just have to get over it!

Oh I'm having the surgery. Even with my doubts of support after, my fear of the permanency, all this is being calmed to a certain extent by reading all your posts on this site.
It's just that for almost 18years, my boys have been my first priority. It's hard to hear them feel this way ,but like someone said in a previous post, they know everything at this age.

Do I have to wait to have sex after surgery? Lol I know weird question but between me and the boy were obsessed.

I was ready the day after surgery, but the nurses all said no.

I don't know why they would require a colonoscopy...they're not touching your intestines

Just wanted everyone to know....I just received a call from my insurance...and I was APPROVED for surgery! I'm so excited, and relieved now I don't have a date yet, since the scheduler is out until Monday, but at least I know there will be one coming soon!

I'm not going to miss the debilitating back, knee, and ankle pain I feel after a good day of hard work.
I'm not going to miss avoiding hanging out with friends, and making new friends, for fear of being judged by my weight.
I'm not going to miss wearing a sweater all year long because it's the only thing I'm comfortable wearing.
I can't wait until my outsides match my insides<3

I can't wait until my body doesn't have to lug around all this nonsense.
I cant wait until there's room between my body and the arm rests in movie theater seats.

I'm sorry that you got that response. I thought I was going to get the same response and be judged, but I got the exact opposite from everyone.

In Sparta...getting sleeved 2/9/15 at Holy Name Medical Center by Dr. Vincent Iannace

New sleever here in Sussex County, was done Dec. 1st! I was out of the hospital the next day I did so well. I was pleasantly surprised how well I did, was expecting it to be rougher. I was put in a room at 5pm after a 1pm surgery and was up and about walking the halls in the evening, the next day I took four long walks around the unit, where I was jokingly called a show-off . I was out by 3pm that day (dec 2nd). This was after my neck going out BAD two weeks before surgery and scared that the neck thing would put off my surgery, it didn't, so I'm happy its all done & my neck is getting better too.
I'm only taking two Percocet's at night to sleep, not for my sleeve surgery, but for my neck. Daytimes not enough pain for pills. I only feel my surgery pain if I put pressure on my stomach. No nausea, thank God.
Gas was the only worry, but its been ok, took two days for it to come out below but now flowing free.
Trying to get as much Fluid Protein in to keep my strength up & keep walking & breathing around the house.
So far, so good.

I am so excited that Thursday is Christmas!!! Why, you ask? The reason is the next week is the New Year and then it will be February shortly afterwards!!! Then on the 9th I will be sleeved and begin my weight loss journey!
