srayl61 got a reaction from Dar200 in Smoking weed pre op
I'm a smoker but have decided to stop 3 months before my surgery to focus on my eating and to clear it out of my system so I don't test positive for it prior to surgery. I asked my team about smoking before and after and while they said they don't know for certain if weed is tested for prior to surgery, they recommend stopping just because quite simply, its still smoking (unless of course you consume it in other ways). I don't plan on not ever smoking again, however, I will wait prob a year or more after surgery before attempting because I do get the munchies pretty bad. I've also smoked some where I didn't get the munchies so it does depend on the strain. I used to smoke every day to deal with pain but physical activity and stretching can usually manage my pain. Now I just smoke occasionally because I enjoy it.

Hi, I have the same fears. My surgery was just on Monday the 6th so I can't say much yet as to what I'm like post surgery because I still feel like me. you have the same fears that I did/have. The only thing I keep telling myself is to take things one day at a time. Honestly after surgery I haven't even thought much about what I'll be like in a few months because I've been so focused on trying to get my liquids in and still in a lot of pain so I'd bet after surgery you'd prob be doing the same thing. I would highly suggest getting the surgery because in a few months well be so thankful that we did. Right before mine I was absolutely terrified that I wasn't going to wake up from surgery. A lot of my fear was just of the unknown such as how I'll feel after, what I'll be eating and drinking and what I'm going to look like. Now that surgery is done, I'm not thinking Of all that so much as just trying to take care of myself now. Please don't give in and cancel your surgery. Think of all the hard work you've put in over the last year and how great you'll be feeling in a few months.

I'm not a smoker and I've not seen anyone post this yet... But my surgeon says that people who smoke after surgery are more likely within 5 years of their surgery to develop stomach ulcers. Soooo I'd rather not have a stomach ulcer if I were you.

Congrats on your surgery!!! Sounds like we could be twins!! I'm 26, never had any major surgeries, or comorbidities either. My pain all comes from my back and joints too haha have you noticed any of you joint and back pain subsiding? It may be too early to tell I suppose. That's what I'm looking forward to though.

srayl61 got a reaction from Skinny Steps in 5 days out - Are Eggs ok?
Hi all, I'm two weeks out from surgery today. I've been on a liquid diet for 3 weeks now (including the week prior to surgery) and I don't see my surgeon for my post op appointment until this Friday the 24th. I'm supposed to be on the liquid diet until I see my surgeon on Friday, which will put me at almost 4 weeks on a liquid diet. I.am.so.sick.of.liquids. I'm at a point where I feel like I'm going to give in and eat something I shouldn't. So tonight I bought some low fat cottage cheese and cream of chicken and mushroom Soup. I haven't been given the go ahead to eat soft foods but if I didn't have something different, I was going to go crazy. I only ate about 1/4 cup of cottage cheese (if that) and about 4 ounces of the cream of chicken soup. Not feeling sick or anything so I'm guessing I can tolerate these two items. I feel kind of bad about having these prior to seeing the dietician and surgeon but eating these is better than eating something else that we shouldn't have right? I feel fine! Actually I feel great because I had something different.

Hi I'm 26 and my surgery is slated for March 2015. My family doctor had suggested looking in to RNY at an appointment last year and to be honest, I was almost offended and taken aback. Afterwards I had thought about it for a few weeks and had a reality check with myself. It also helped that I ran into a coworker who had lost 70 lbs and it was because of surgery. At that point I decided to attend the info session for my program and setting up appointments. I'm just really hoping that this will be the tool I need to lose the weight I need to. I've tried multiple diets in the past, only ever losing 10-25 lbs each time and only ever putting it back on, plus some. I'm so afraid I'm not going to lose and will fail at this.

Wow ppl really Need to get informed on cannabis . Typical judgemental statement . The munchies that's hilarious . Read up on cannabis and it's health benefits before passing judgement.
