    Vitamin Help!

Morning from the snow covered state of Connecticut. I love taking my Vitamins. I use Centrum Chewable twice a day (one in the morning/one at night). I also take chewable Calcium twice a day (one in morning/one in evening). My Vitamin B-12 is not chewable, so I break it up in 1/2 and take one at 630 am and the other a 7 am just because I take with milk and fills me up quickly. My sister takes a B-12 that is disolvable under the tongue. I do not do the Bariatric because of the fact that many were getting nauseous on them. Try the above. They are great tasting and easy on stomach. Hopefully this helps. Have a sparkling day. Annamarie

    23 Days Post Op

Hi... Most likely is scar tissue. I do not have any big incisions, mine are very small. I have always made sure it was clean and rinsed well. If the pain was more on the right side, I would worry about Gallbladder. But left side, most likely just scar tissue and healing process.

    Scared

Morning from the freezing part of Connecticut. Please do not ever feel alone and scared. We have all had our ups and downs of the surgery. I just made sure I followed my surgeons instructions. I had my surgery in 11/2014 and feel great. Started out feeling depressed and anxious, but then within two weeks was feeling alot better. To date, I still can only eat about 2.5 oz of food per sitting. My sister can eat up to 4oz and she had her's in 8/2014. I do hope you contacted your surgeon. He/She would know exactly what to do with your situations because most Emergency Rooms do not have the knowledge or understanding yet of this surgery. They can assist in making you comfortable, but your surgeon is your best asset. Hopefully things are going better and you are sleeping and not feeling so anxious. We are all here to help each other through this journey. Do not ever be afraid to ask any question. Annamarie

    FINALLY!

Way to go.............I remember when I was able to eat solid food....I was soo excited. As for your surgeon giving you a date to reach your goal. This is YOUR journey not His/Hers. You have a full year to reach the goal YOU want. Todate I have lost over 63 pounds. I had my surgery on 11/21/14. I am loosing exatly how they want me to. They never have told me what I should weigh in how many months. To me, that put alot of stress on you, which is not fair. You enjoy this ride, you do what you need to do to make it work. Just remember the surgery was just a tool, it is up to you to make it work. Again, congrats..........Proud of you !!!

    Still Hungry!

Morning... You eat every 1/2 hour? wow, isn't that too much? When I had my surgery on 11/21/14, I was told to eat only 2 tsp every 2 hours and no Water 30 minutes before or after a meal. But I was to also drink water every 10 minutes (taking 2 sips). Maybe if try a different way of eatting it may make you less hungry.

    Hair loss

Morning....... I had my surgery back on 11/21/14. To date, I have lost very little hair. I am a blond, so I already have thin hair. I started taking Biotin 10,000mcg instantly because I was afraid I would loose my hair. I am having no problem with the hair loss, like I mentioned, maybe 1 hair a day if that. Most days I hve asolutely NO hair loss. Don't worry, you should be fine

One week post op and only lost 3lbs...

You are only 6 days out. You are doing fine. I felt like I was not losing anything, but now I look in the mirror and cannot believe the transformation. I had my surgery on 11/21/14, so was not that long ago. I, to date, have lost a little over 60 pounds. I just put it down to the healing process and the swelling we all obtain when having the surgery. You will loose it, do not get put off by the small amounts. As long as you listen to your surgeon and realize this is only a tool, you will do GREAT>>>>> Have a great evening... Annamarie

    2.5 Months Out & FAIL

Very sorry if I upset you and you took the TRUTH the wrong way. I saw what I wrote as nothing but the truth. Everyone has the problem of blaming others and surgeons for their "not" losing weight, or eating too much. If we took the responsibility of what we put into our mouth/bodies, we would have NOT BEEN IN THIS POSITION IN THE FIRST PLACE. Sorry that the truth hurt you, as for calling me names, that was very adult of you. I appreciated the person who replied back to you stating I did nothing wrong with what I wrote. I was over 300 pounds back in November before I even started this journey. I was the one who put me that size, no one else. It was my responsibility to keep myself healthy. NO ONE ELSE's. I do not feel I am any better than anyone else in here, I just speak the truth. No hurting in telling the truth. As for your comment about my surgeon doing brain surgery, sorry honey....I did that on my own when I was given the SECOND CHANCE to become who I should have. I changed my attitude, I changed my eating habits, I changed what I wanted to change. I had my surgery to HELP me succeed in my vision, not to keep me from eating the bad foods. Again, sorry you could not handle the truth in words. I will not replying or reading anymore responses from you since you are not adult enough to accept criticism/recommendations. Have a sparkling day

    2.5 Months Out & FAIL

Sorry to be so blunt: But the surgeon performed surgery on your STOMACH not your BRAIN. It is YOUR choice to do what is right and make the good choices. Has nothing to do with the SURGERY. The SURGERY was a TOOL to help you LOOSE weight. If you stretch it back to the size it was before .... YOU did it.....no one else. Your stomach has stretchy cells, which means you were given a second chance to make YOU want you want to be. It is able to go right back to where it was before. It is a BABY stomach, you push too much food in it , you become a bigger size. Then you will blame everyone but yourself. AGAIN...........STOMACH HAD SURGERY.............NOT YOUR BRAIN..............

    Having a bad day 6!

Hi... We have all gone through the first two weeks of crying, our hormones out of wack, the touchy comments. You will be fine. I had my surgery back 11/21/14 and to date have lost 60 pounds and am very happy I made this decision. Everyone is different. We can all give advice and you can take it or not. But, in the end, we all made this decision to become healthier. It is a journey. Don't expect to loose hugh amounts all at once. It took (however old you are) to gain that weight, it will take a good year or so to loose exactly what you want. My favorite quote: Your doctor performed surgery on your stomach not your brain. It is up to you to eat healthy and make right choices. Enjoy this ride/journey, I know I am.

    Weight loss

You are doing great. Each one of us is an individual and will loose it differently. To date (7.5 wk), I have lost 60 pounds. I still need to update my little tickler here. Again, we are all different. You are doing a great job.
  13. Being in the Medical Field..............you absolutely NEVER crush your medications unless it states you can. You lessen the strength of the medication. If you are taking a capsule that you can pull apart, those tiny speckles can be put on applesauce and taken that way. again, NEVER crush your medications. If it is a pill that can be cut in 1/2, use a spliter to cut in half. I just find it odd that every surgeon who performs this operation is different. It just amazes me some of the questions asked. Most go to Mexico to have done, but then where do they have their follow-ups, who refills medications. My surgeon performed the operation and their office is who I follow-up with ... no one else. I really like this group, but some of the questions asked drives me insane because they should have been discussed way before the surgery even happened.

    Pain in back

Usually the pain is still from the gas that they injected into your abdomen cavity in order to do the surgery. Just walk it off. The more you walk, the better. If it continues more than 7 days, I would contact the surgeon.
  15. They did surgery on your stomach. why would you have restrictions?

    My fitness pal?

I am on Pintrest. Lots of recipes and other info on there.
  17. I just went for my 2-month follow-up and they have taken me off Omeprazole as I do not need it anymore.

    Anyone have regrets?

Well, first I would love to wish you a Happy Birthday.... Secondly, we all went through this feeling. You will get over it. I cried on day 3-5 thinking I made the wrong decision. I had my surgery on 11/21/14 and today I feel terrific. I love the compliments and I have more energy. You will be fine and this is just a step we all go through, but no one said anything about it before the surgery. Good luck and enjoy your birthday. Annamarie
  19. Just glued. My grand-daughter thought it was cute. She kissed and touched it. By the end of 1.5 weeks it just fell off, I have no idea where, it just disappeared. My scars are not bad either, very minimal
  20. Tauruslady5

    Why am I freezing?

You are freezing because you are loosing the body fat that kept you warm. Hopefully your surgeon explained this prior to your surgery. You will go thought alot of different changes. Hopefully you are taking Biotin for your hair, so you don't loose alot.

    Newly sleeved....

Hi. The first 2 weeks are the hardest after surgery. Just remember to drink, try to eat, and do alot of walking. You will have no energy, but that too will come back within 2 weeks. I had my surgery 11/21/14 and I still do not eat alot. I have, maybe, 2 oz of food every 2 hours. It is okay though because I know I am eating correctly. I eat at 630a, 830, 1030, 1230, 230, 430, 630, 830p. I also do alot of walking and was just cleared to go to the gym. Just sit back and enjoy the journey...it does get better. OHHH....it is okay to cry and have bad days, you will get through it

    Hair cut after hair loss

I have been taking Biotin daily and I have had NO hair loss. The reason we loose the hair is because we are not getting the correct amount of nutrients anymore. The more Protein you eat, the better for your hair though. Try the Biotin, really does work. I take a dosage of 10,000 mg I think it is.
  23. Tauruslady5

Left side pain 6-7 weeks out

Nope.... Could be a leak at the top of the stomach with a fistula of infection??? Gallbladder??? You need to advocate for yourself? I would ask if it could possibly be these problems.
  24. I just went to my 2-month follow-up of my Gastric Sleeve Surgery. I feel great and loving this journey. I weighted in at 242. I even told the Health Tech I was happy to get on the scale. My Blood Pressure was 124/80. How great is that. My highest weight was 300, and blood pressure was 210/190. My synthroid (for my thyroid) has been decreased from 250mcg to 125 mcg. Dawn, the APRN is very happy with my success. She loves how happy I am and that I will need to buy new clothes. I told her I just bought these less than one month ago. Time to go shopping again soon. I also was given the OKAY to join the gym and exercise. She just does not want me to do too much too quickly. She does not want me to beef up, just tone up. I cannot wait to go, I start on Sunday. I am eating correctly. I still eat every 2 hours with about 2 oz of food (or at least I try). I am trying to eat more Protein. What she suggested is I stop stereo-typing food time. Do not think of it as Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snacks. I can have a chicken slice in the morning if I want. I told her that I had one egg w/ cheese and a small side of mixed fruit (no juice). She loved it. She asked me when I return for my 6-month followup to bring in recipes. How funny, I have already started putting a recipe book together. Cannot wait to bring and show her. I did ask her why is it that my sister is always hungry and I am not. We both have lost 60 pounds. She had her surgery in August and I had mine in November. What we seem to find is that my sister is eating too many carbs and I am eating protein. So I am always full quicker. I am enjoying this journey and I hope everyone else is doing the same. Have a sparkling evening and enjoy this ride. Annamarie
