    Weight lost over time

Sleeved 5/28. Highest weight 337, 327 day of operation, 274 today. At month two, I hit a 3 week stall that really scrambled my head. Weight (and hair) then started coming off more regularly after that. I average a 2#/week loss. I wish it was more as I'm working out 5-6 days per week but my doc is good with the rate.

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

    Where's the guy's room?

    Psychotropic meds

I've been taking a first generation MAOI and occasionally Klonapin before and after surgery and they both work the same as before.
  4. What's the other "May" thread?
  5. I'm also noticing hair loss. Can see my scalp after shower. Are we SURE it comes back???
  6. 60# lost to date but worried about a slow down. Still eating right, exercising, but losing only 1-2# per week. Still have ~90# to go.

    May Sleevers, How much?

    Sleeved 5/28, down 60#. Losing ~ 2#/week now.
  8. I also worried about this 60% of excess fat loss. I have 145 pounds to lose. 60% of that is 87. I'm approaching the 4 month post op point and I've lost 60 pounds. Things have settled into a 2 pound per week loss rate that I'm comfortable with. (Sorry about the italics, I don't know what key I hit.) Anyway, my PA says that the "honeymoon" period is just a myth so long as you stick with the plan. Protein, vegetables, Water. I know I could boost the loss rate if I stuck to the plan religiously but I've modified it to a plan I'm comfortable with for the long term so long as I keep losing at this rate. Should that decrease, I'll tighten up.

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

I really wanted to reply to this. Yes, sex is a LOT of work for a big guy. Ladies, all due respect, but most of the time, sex is all about US doing the work -- abs and core, legs, arms. If you're out of shape, as a guy, sex can absolutely destroy your stamina, and let's face it -- collapsing like a pile of Jello halfway through just ain't sexy. So we try REALLY hard to please y'all, but when you're that heavy, it just ain't going to happen! Add to this the fact that fat converts testosterone to estrogen (yes, estrogen. Look up lipid aromatization for proof...) and you see a real "double whammy" for us guys emerging; not only are we expected to be nearly machine-like in our movements, with no reaction to the sheer strain and stress of moving 250, 300, 400 pounds of flesh around (not counting the lady!), but our testosterone can dip so low that we have a hard time keeping an erection (and what THAT means, ladies, is that ANY distraction can make "it" go away -- slowing the rhythm, changing position, even just worrying that "oh god, I'm gonna lose it!" And when you're panting and wheezing and worried about having a heart attack (yes, contrary to urban legend, people can and do regularly have heart attacks or strokes during sex), that's a pretty serious distraction. So, for a heavy guy, sex really ain't much FUN! We want to do it to keep our lady friends happy, and sure, it FEELS good, but it also feels like we're gonna die, it's a race against the clock with whether Mr. Happy will keep playing along, and a lot of times those negatives outweigh (heh) the positives. Now, switch to skinny sex. My muscles are MORE than capable of hauling my carcass around and doing ALL sorts of interesting positional things. Sure, I sweat and breathe hard in the throes of passion, but my heart and lungs are healthy and I have a ton of stamina, so I'm not worried some artery is going to explode. And best of all, because my testosterone MORE THAN DOUBLED without drugs, just by losing the weight, my libido is crazy -- that one hormone makes ALL the difference between just being caught up in my head and worrying about how I'm going to "perform" and getting utterly, absolutely lost in the moment. And that is so insanely sexy. Apparently for both of us! So yes, ladies, if you want a better love life, definitely lose weight, but get your guy to lose weight too. You will NOT regret it! How much weight did you lose before this stuff kicked in?

    SEX

Sex... Nope, not ringing any bells.
  11. Mine was so bad that I got out of the car and took a swan dive into the driveway. Hurt my back and neck. Someone on here recommended Iron supplements and they have made the worst of the dizziness go away.
  12. "Why do I want to call my wife a pig?" Wonder what type of reception that would have received on here.

Did you reach goal in a year?

Had my 3 mo check up yesterday and we talked about the "honeymoon period". My PA says that she's convinced that the end of the HM is when we've strayed far enough away from our postop eating for things to slow or stop. She's convinced that revisiting Protein first, vegs, Water will start things up again.

    Dizzy

Sleeved the end of May. Weight loss running about 2#/week. I have spells of dizziness and hearing loss that occur when I change from lying to up or even sitting to up. One was so bad that I passed out in the driveway, fell, and hurt my neck and back. I thought that getting off FloMax would stop them but it only lessened them some. Trying to get my Water and Protein every day. Urine rarely dark yellow. Anyone else had this related to GS? Bob

What did you take to get the Iron back up?

    May Sleevers, How much?

Ten # lost in 2 weeks prior to surgery 5/28. Since then, 43#. Usually drop 2#/week though a had a wicked 3 week stall starting at post op week 2.

    Dizzy

Ate more Protein today and didn't have any wicked dizzy spells. Had some partial hearing loss spells which usually accompany the dizziness but alone today.

    Dizzy

Took BP today after a dizziness incident and it was 114/62.

    Dizzy

I had a history of high BP prior to surgery, now it's normal. Took my pulse last night and it was 50 though I workout in the pool 5days/week. BP at no certain time was about 150/80. Perhaps some salty food I had. I'll try to drink more Water and see what pri doc says. Tks.
  20. I've been taking my K/Mg citrate in pill form since right after surgery. No problem.

    Prayers needed please

Blasting good thoughts and prayers your way.
  22. Sleeved May 28. Lost 10# prior to surgery, 20# more by end of June, then up and down all through July. My daily caloric intake as a pretty sedentary person is around 3500 calories. My daily workout adds another 350 or so. I routinely eat around 1100 cals/day and never more than 1500 but the weight is not coming off. I'm tempted to go back to pre-surgery diet but I don't know how long I can last on that. Since surgery, I sometimes get very dizzy to the point of almost passing out accompanied by a partial hearing loss. I know my blood pressure is lower now but normal, not low. Wondering if any guys can input about whether I'm eating too much, not enough, or whatever.

    Male Sleevers?

I've been taking a B complex every week but the only Iron is what is in my multi Vitamin. I'll go back for blood tests if this keeps up.
  24. Mulepick

    Male Sleevers?

800-900 calories sounds low to me particularly if he was walking an hour/day. Can't argue with the results though.
  25. Mulepick

    Male Sleevers?

We do seem to have similar experiences. I went to checking my weight every week now just to avoid the up/down and this week I'm at a new low of 293 about 5# down since last Friday. This was just after my workout so may be a little optimistic; I'll take it again tomorrow. Interesting that you get advice to eat more. Maybe I'm being influenced by all the ladies on here eating 800 calories and such. I feel bad when I go over 1100 but perhaps shouldn't considering my metabolism and workout regime.
