    Only losing 1lbs a day

Only!! What the heck did you expect? A pound a day is 7 pounds a week, 28 pounds a month! Come on now... Maybe if you want to speed up the process you could cut off your leg or something... Sorry to be so snarky but I'm honestly wondering if you did any research or talked with your surgeon at all before you had your procedure. If not, please do so. After the first couple of months, your weight loss will slow down to 1-2 pounds per week which is healthy and normal.
  2. I wonder how you would relate to coworkers and a boss treating you this way over other major personal life decisions? For instance, lets say you decided to go back to college, turn your life over to Christ, foster a child, marry the man of your dreams, move your niece in with you.... Would it be okay for them (or anyone for that matter) to say rude things about your personal choices that HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WITH THEM? Of course not! If it were me, I would take a stand, but keep it professional because you need the job right now... I would say something like "I can see you don't approve of my personal choice. Good thing it doesn't affect my ability to perform my work. Now what would you like me to do today?" Put a smile on your face, and refuse to comment further. If you act like it doesn't bother you, I promise it will take the fun away for them and the bullying (that's what this is) will stop. If it doesn't... Contact HR.

    Not so victorious NSV

Hahaa! thanks for the giggle this morning!
  4. I've learned to not really care.... At first to be honest I was very concerned about what others would think or say about me having surgery but then when I started losing the weight and feeling so much better, I got more confident I guess. I just realized this isn't about them... It's about me, and God, and that is it. What I have found that works perfectly is to beat them to the punch by announcing that fact first... I say something like "When I first had this done I was worried that people would think I was taking the easy way out, but it is sooo not easy, ...and now I really don't care what anyone thinks anyways because I feel so much better!" That usually entices people to keep their nasty lil opinions to themselves. (They probably talk behind my back, but again I don't care)

    3 days post op

Glad to hear you're getting discharged and heading home from the hospital Best of luck to you!
  8. I'm 53 and had my surgery in December... So glad I did!
  9. Wow...and how attracted are you to someone who would make such an unkind remark to his life partner just two weeks after surgery? I'm pretty ornery though but I'd be saying something like "That's okay with me, cause in a very short time there will be plenty of guys out there who think I'm stunning!"
  10. I have the biggest sweet tooth! Before surgery I could sit down and eat an entire bag of Cookies no problem :/... after surgery I'm finding that I still crave sweets but want to make healthy choices. My go to's so far have been Greek Yogurt with slivered almonds or Strawberries and blueberries with sugar free cool whip. Wondering what everyone else eats when they crave a goodie?

    Pizza ughhhh

I too loved pizza before my sleeve. In fact we had quite a long, torrid romance! But after surgery I tried a lil hook up and it did not go so well. We had a fight, pizza won and we are now forever broke up. I can't tolerate his shenanigans anymore. Just know after your sleeve you may feel the same way and it may not be as hard to say no
  12. Debbieduck4

    What irritates your sleeve?

I've never been sick but gotten really nauseaus from plain old romaine lettuce for some weird reason 3 occasions. I know I'm a slow learner! Also, don't do well with mayo, sugar free hot chocolate, or a slice of pizza I got into a fight with

    What have I done?

I think it's normal to have some regrets, but if you really think about what you are saying you are telling yourself that you are missing the ability to eat a lot of unhealthy food that was literally making you sick and miserable. That's what I did anyways, I just had to reframe in my mind the way I was thinking about it and remember all the reasons I chose to have the surgery. I heard somewhere that our brains cannot focus on more than a few things at time... my advice would be to try to focus on the positive such as how you finally took a step to change your life, your health, your future, dreams, goals, etc. and don't leave that brain of yours room for regrets. As others have said, in a couple of months this phase is all going to be a distant memory anyways in the fabulous new life you will be leading!

    No BM in two weeks?

This was a real problem for me too at first... I tried so many things, ex-lax, miralax, milk of magnesia, taking a stool softener once a day (then twice a day), I used suppositories, and even enemas at times I was so dang stopped up for the first 2 months!! Then I discovered Smooth Move tea. It is sold at just regular grocery stores in the tea aisle. I now drink a cup about twice a week if I need to and me and my movements are much happier Get some, save yourself the research... I already did it for you. Trust me on this. LOL
  15. I just talked with my nutritionist about this! I feel the same way and am close to 3 months out now... She said it's because my new tummy cannot hold very much food and I'm eating such a small amount at each meal now. She also said not to worry. I thought I was becoming one of those "grazers" that I keep reading about! She told me to just eat a healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 2 snacks each day that are high in protein, low in carbs and calories... and space them every 2-3 hours Good luck to you!
  16. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling like that! When do you have your next follow-up? You might want to talk about the nausea and how food doesn't taste good. I had my sleeve on Dec 3rd and am doing pretty well. I am still learning what foods my tummy can tolerate and have days where I eat more than I should and have that yucky full feeling to contend with for awhile. But.. I've never been sick, just had nausea a few times when eating new things and then I don't eat those again. I'm still losing but have days in a row where I sit on the same number on the scale and start to feel discouraged. I just remind myself of the basics... Protein, veggies, Water, exercise, and things get moving in the right direction again. I think you're gonna get going that way too!

    Favorite Recipes!

Here's a yummy Soup you can try when you get to full liquids.. It's really easy to make, you can freeze portions for later, and my hubby (non-surgery folks) love it too Sweet Potato and Red Pepper soup 3 C Water 3 yams cubed 1 red bell pepper 3t ginger 4 ½ t olive oil 4 C vegetable broth Braggs liquid aminos or soy sauce to taste Boil yams for 5-7 min and drain. Roast bell pepper under broiler until evenly charred, turning frequently. Remove skin from pepper under running water and then chop into ½ inch cubes. Place all ingredients except Braggs into blender and blend until smooth. Transfer to sauce pan and heat. Add Braggs or soy to taste.

How did you determine your "goal weight"?

My doctor asked me what my goal weight was and I told him a weight that I have felt really happy with my body at in the past even though it is about 30 pounds heavier than any BMI chart. He said "Great! It's your body and we want you to be happy with it!" So 160 is my goal even though I'm only 5'2"
  20. I could not tolerate plain Water at all for the entire first month after surgery for some weird reason.... It actually hurt to drink. I'm wondering what kinds of liquids you are drinking? For me it was helpful to experiment with different things... I found out that I managed warm or hot liquids better at first, so drank a lot of broth and teas. Maybe try that in addition to the meds? I hope you feel better soon.
