    Anyone have regrets?

I am 5 weeks post op and I certainly have my down days. I am not sure I was fully prepared for just how long I would not be feeling that well although my surgery did not go to plan so that is one of the reasons healing is taking longer. I am not sure I was really prepared for how hard I am fining it when as a family we go out for a meal and its simply a major waste of money for me to even purchase a small meal as all I would be able to eat is an egg (breakfast seems to be my smallest meal). Cannot order the cappuccino like everyone else as I cannot dink and eat and with them not knowing I had a sleeve op (they know I had the other things I had done), keeping it a secret is becoming harder as time goes on as its obvious something isn't right. Its my choice not to share the information with anyone, I never want my children to know as I have always advocated for a healthy lifestyle and was a reflection of that until about 7 years ago. I miss being able to eat out without concern, restaurants just don't seem to have extremely small meals, even entrees seem to be too big. I am also struggling with sleep, I had restless leg syndrome prior to the surgery and it is 100 times worse now so I barely sleep. My ability to eat seems to fluctuate from days where I cannot eat very much at all, perhaps 4 spoonfuls at a meal to days like yesterday when I was able to consume 1/2 a wrap for lunch and the other half later in the day. I still experience sharp pains down my left hand side under the rib cage. I remain unsure of how much to eat at 6 weeks and I am concerned about stretching the sleeve.
  2. @@Chuckie He said double the dose of the PPI.
  3. Regarding your experiences of heartburn - I have had that in the past and is why I had a hernia op included due to reflux. Recently went to the Dr and complained of crushing pain in my chest just below the rib cage (also had GallBladder out) and he put this down to heartburn however that was no my previous experience of heart burn and this occurs at all different times necessarily associated with food,
  4. I am from Sydney - surgery was 17 December

    Incisional pain

I am 4 weeks and have had pain especially when sitting down in 2 incisions , seeing surgeon tomorrow.
  6. I had them at the same time due to the fact my surgeon said it was better and safer that way rather than have 2 separate surgeries. It did make my recovery somewhat more difficult however, just don't seem to be bouncing back like some who just had the sleeve done. I had gall bladder removed 2 hernia repairs adhesions separated and sleeve however my surgery was complex due to the adhesions (from previous surgeries) so it was 5 hours. Most are not that long I don't think. I did not have a huge amount of pain, some nausea and I am finding I am still very weak some 4 weeks post surgery but all n all not too bad.
  7. I only told my ex husband and that was only because I needed a lift to the hospital and I guessed at least one person should know in case something went wrong. If people do ask me directly if I have had WLS I will tell them however my weight loss is slow at this stage and I have lost a lot of weight once before so it shouldn't surprise ppl. I had a number of procedures done with the sleeve which family and friends do know about so I just say its because of the surgery I had. I wont lie however I do not feel I want to share the information as yet. My question is though I am heading on holidays and I wondered what ppl do in restaurants etc? Also the not drinking and eating at the same time I find difficult when heading out for Breakfast as that normally includes juice and coffee and I cannot spend hours in a restaurant/café.
  8. Thanks so much for the information. Unfortunately I was not given much information and my first visit with the surgeon is 5 weeks post op due to the holidays. Elode the bra thing is weird and as much as its nice to not wear one, I feel embarrassed without one.
  9. I am only losing approximately 1kg a week which is slower than some however I am ok with that as huge losses can impact on skin and hair more than a slower loss. I also do not have as much to lose as some so perhaps this also impacts. I also think how much and what you were eating prior to surgery can impact.
  10. Firstly anyone experienced the following: I suffered Restless Leg Syndrome before the op - it is so much worse now and I am on magnesium. I also find it near impossible to wear a bra not because of the lil cut under the bra line but because of a crushing feeling on my chest area. Sometimes I suffer from leg ache particularly in the Right Thigh and some chest pain. When is it possible to actually eat bread? Ever? I would kill for a chicken salad sandwich. Anyone get a separate bill from an assisting surgeon? I wasn't happy when I received this as I was not even aware I would get one. I asked for the costs and was advised of the surgeon and anaesthetist but nothing else. What vitamins have people been advised to take? Normal weekly weight loss post surgery? Thanks everyone
  11. Thanks everyone for the wonderful advice, much appreciated.
  12. My surgery became a little more complicated than planned and went for nearly 5 hours - in hospital 5 days. No visit from a dietician which was disappointing so given a handout on discharge. Surgeon indicated I would normally see him 1 week post op but due to the holidays it would be later. He actually is on leave until late January so it will have been more like 5-6 weeks post op. No one knows about the surgery. Initially I virtually ate nothing however over the past 4 days I have been so hungry. Struggling to find things to eat with high Protein. Hate Optifast so only doing that every few days. I am so fearful I am making my new pouch stretch. Today I had a poached egg for Breakfast, then on a journey to visit my son my friend bought 2 Magnum icecreams, I managed to eat 1/3. lunch was about 120ml of home made pea and ham Soup. 1/2 cup of high protein yoghurt for afternoon tea, 3 teaspoons cottage cheese and 3 teaspoons houmos for dinner plus 3/4 cup of soup and some paw paw planned for supper. Not drinking enough but trying harder. Not sure this is too much food. Minimal weight loss however I wonder if that is because I did not overeat prior to surgery. Lost 4 kilos since surgery 2 weeks ago. Had bad thigh ache last night in bed and sound wound pain today. That's my story, any advice would be welcome.
