Can I have coffee on my preop diet?
mrs kaje replied to purpleandgold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine says no coffee - including the coffee flavoured protein shakes. -
I wonder if there's a bit of "you think you're disgusting because you're obese - I'm obese, too, so does that mean you think I'm disgusting, too?" (not in those words, but you get the drift) and like forcing her to be a bit more self aware of her own health situation.

Why did you decide to do sleeve instead of RNY?
mrs kaje replied to ilikecake2much's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I always think of it as the "drastic bypass". But I did think that if the surgeon recommended it, I would accept that. When I met with him he said he thought the sleeve was the best option for me, and would really only recommend the bypass for me if I had really bad diabetes. -
Need to change Dr Pre -OP I think; anyone else do this?
mrs kaje replied to GottaBeME*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There was a post on here a couple of days ago from someone who's thinking of doing the same thing. I think @LipstickLady replied that she'd changed part way through, and she was happy she did. -
Can Brushing Our Teeth Can Help Us Lose Weight?
mrs kaje replied to Miss Mac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I read years ago that Pamela Anderson brushes her teeth before she cooks, so she won't be tempted to pick at the food whilst she's cooking. Hey, if it's good enough for Pammy... -
Sounds like you work for L'Oreal

My mobile doesn't do it for this forum.

Apples make me feel so hungry after I eat them, so I have yoghurt with them or a spoonful of peanut butter before - makes it more of a chore when I can't just pull an apple out of my bag and eat on the run. Love them, though.

I don't know anyone who's had it (if they are telling people, that is). Not even a 'friend of a cousin's girlfriend's neighbour' type thing.

Yep, you're right - it sure does. Fun fact: this isn't the business world, nor are you grading an English exam, so there's no need for douche-level judgement. It annoys me, too, however I suck at lots of things that the next bad speller could excel at - I'm not better than them just because I can string together a sentence. I don't think their opinion is invalid just because they can't articulate it.

Paying for weight loss surgery with your Superannuation
mrs kaje replied to Amy*'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yesterday I looked through the paperwork and the surgeon has also provided a letter to send to DHS, and it uses the words "life threatening" and some other phrases to back up my application. Maybe your surgeon will do the same. -
Should I Start Juicing or Have Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
mrs kaje replied to Short N Sweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What, are you just going to drink juice (which is full of sugar, and doesn't have the benefits of the whole fruits) for the rest of your life? Doing some fad diet isn't going to teach you how to eat properly and maintain a healthy weight for the rest of your life. -
Paying for weight loss surgery with your Superannuation
mrs kaje replied to Amy*'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have heard it will be denied unless the 'life threatening' box is ticked. I received three forms from my surgeon; one signed by him, one for the GP and one for me to fill out. I will probably use super for the gap. I was going to self pay but opted to get PHI instead. -
A single doughnut almost broke me
mrs kaje replied to snickysnack78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, wanna know what I did yesterday? I went to get groceries after work, and saw Easter eggs on sale. I bought a 90g bag of Lindt mini bunnies, among other things, and I ate these in the car on the drive home, within probably less than ten minutes. When I got home, I ate four mini croissants with butter. Then two bread rolls with butter and jam. Then a 120g white chocolate Easter bunny. It was like I just wanted to shove carbs in my face; I couldn't stop myself. 2386 calories for the day. I know this happened because I ate Easter chocolate the last few days - for me, carbs trigger carb cravings. Even though I know it'll happen, it's like I can't control myself. But today, I'm back on track and I'll be fine until next month as it's my birthday and I'll be eating cake, and I'm not apologising for it. Don't talk to me about your one doughnut, amateur. -
You need to swing your arm for it to pick up your steps (which sucks when you're pushing a shopping trolley or a pram, or carrying something down by your side whilst walking, because it doesn't pick up your steps). If you move your arm a lot whilst driving (or anything else), you may get some false readings. I saw a post by a lady who picked up hundreds/thousands of steps whilst playing the organ (no, that's not a euphemism, but I have heard of guys who pick up steps whilst doing... other things, lol!) You can also press the button to start a timer for vigorous activity that doesn't involve stepping, so it records a period of exercise.

The Fitbit has a water tracker and you can enter by volume (I use millilitres).

Final weight 263.89lb - a couple less than my goal, yay! I'm especially pleased with this considering how far off track I got in the middle weeks - just snuck over the line at the end.
-
I'm in. I will advise my goal at the first weigh in.
-
268.08lb today Heading off on holidays so my final check in next week will be a little late as I'll have no internet access

That site does not work, does it still exist? There's no .au on the end. It definitely exists. I also recommend bandingtogether.com.au - there is a sleever section.

You know you lost weight when
mrs kaje replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
As a corollary.... When you don't waste time driving around the parking lot looking for a closer space, because it's faster (and healthier) to grab a farther space and walk in. Furthermore.... When you run upstairs to get something – whenever you need it – rather than waiting until you have a bunch of reasons to climb that mountain. Okay, one more.... When you compare the weight you've lost to other heavy things -- I've lost just about 3 bags of mulch! I mean, think about that... I'd have trouble picking up two bags of mulch, let alone three. Imagine carrying three bags of mulch everywhere you go, including upstairs! Ouch!!! And freakin' YAY!!! http://www.ilostwhat.com/ -
the wait is going to kill me...
mrs kaje replied to lauren8486's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha - tell me about it! I'm going through a 12 month wait for my health insurance to kick in :-/
