    Any one cheat?

I stuffed up mine a couple of times in the second week. I just made sure I stuck to it afterwards (about the last four days).

How much did you lose ?

I lost 6lb the first week and only 0.88lb the second.

Did anyone go to surgery alone.

I slept for hours after surgery then dozed for hours after that. It would've been pointless for anyone to be there, and super boring for them!
  4. It's been just over 24 hours. No gas pain, no nausea. I'm off the IV and onto paracetamol and ibuprofen. Only issues are tiredness and some pain at the main incision.I should be right to go home tomorrow if I can get a litre of fluids today. How are my fellow 8th December sleevers going? Hope everyone is doing well!

    December 8th Sleevers......

I have to be there at 6am for 8am surgery time - first cab off the rank! Leaving in six hours... hope I can get some sleep - feel like a kid at Christmas, lol.

    So Ready For Positive Changes!

Why are you letting an unlicensed driver use your car?! If he crashes it, won't it void the insurance?

    No Sex? WTF

Ask him whether he thinks you should get a divorce (or a trial separation). If he says yes, that's an easy one. If he says no, ask him to explain why. If he explains, you have something to work with. Even if he's happy and thinks things are great, you clearly have different ideas about what makes a happy marriage. If he doesn't want to talk about it but actually doesn't want to divorce, and gives a shit, it may prompt him to realise the way he's treating you has made you consider it, and you may notice a change in his behaviour. If he doesn't want to talk about it and truly doesn't care, he'll just continue on as always, and you'll have to decide whether you're ok with this life forever.

    Pre-op Dieters, check in!

We had people over tonight for a BBQ - I had salad (allowed), but also a sausage and a bit of cheese. Then the kids had s'mores and I had one of those because I've never had proper ones before (non-American here; first time eating a graham cracker!). Sigh. Only two full days left before my surgery day.
  10. My in-laws are staying on our property at the moment. My mother-in-law is a nurse (and so is her sister) - I'm not sure what I can come up with that will satisfy her curiosity/concern but also won't give away the truth. I'm thinking of just saying something super vague like "I'm just going to get a few things looked at" or "taken care of". I have no problem following up with an "it's nothing I want to discuss" but I resent the fact they'll even know I'm leaving the house for anything health-related.

    What is WRONG with me?

Well, hey, if you gotta cry - better for it to be brought on by nice things, than by crap things

    Any December Sleever's?

    I'm 8th December, too.

    Hello to All

I chose VSG because the bypass seems like overkill for me (I think of it as the 'drastic bypass'). The band seems like a gimmick, or something, and I'm not interested in follow ups for fills, and it just seems like too much trouble to get it right and keep it happy. I like that with the sleeve, food goes into and comes out of the stomach exactly the same way, there's just less room in the stomach.

    Stick a fork in me

Well then, I'm a failure, too. I lost 53lb this year. Then I put 27lb back on within a few months! But I am now back on track and I'm 12lb down from my regain point (7.5lb of that was lost during my pre-op diet, to date). I know that it sucks having to start again, but you lost the weight once, you can definitely do it again. The doctors can sort out the other stuff - that's their job, and they'll find a way for it to work out. Don't worry about the Protein Shakes - some people don't even have a pre-op diet, which means the world's not going to end if you can't have the shakes specifically; there are alternatives. Good luck. Let us know what their solution is, when they figure it out (because they will). :-)

Old bestfriend Is back, and hes married..

He sought you out, and he's flirting - I assume he's hoping to start something. If it was me, I'd back off now before anything has a chance to start.

    Pre-op Dieters, check in!

I'm halfway through. I found it much easier than expected, but bought chocolate today with the intention of eating it (I didn't, but that was due to distraction, not willpower).

    Dizziness upon standing

Do you currently take medication to lower your blood pressure? If so, I believe there's the potential for it to make it too low, of which dizziness can be an indication.
  18. Hey. I think you made a little error in your post so I just fixed that for you, k?
  19. I have the Nutri Ninja Slim - it's great, I use it at least a couple of times a day, and the kids use it for smoothies and slushies. I just rinse the blade and cup under the tap when I finish with it, and leave it on the sink for next time (it gets a proper wash at the end of each day with the rest of the dishes). I don't usually keep appliances on the benchtop but it takes up hardly any room so I don't mind leaving this one out.

    What’s Your Restaurant Secret?

My, how do you fit it all in? I mentioned I'm still preop. But it looks "normal" to order. Lost in translation I guess - where I am, a "side of ham" is like a whole ham/leg, or whatever. I knew what you meant, but it amused me to picture you sitting down to a single egg and a quarter of a pig lol.

    Califlower pizza

I made this last week but I'm limited to items allowed on my pre-op diet so I just had capsicum, onion, zucchini and tomato with herbs and spices. It was SO good; I was really surprised. I obviously didn't get enough water out of the cauliflower as it was still soft, but it tasted great.

    Food....

Yes it is. If you really want to have things, go for quality over quantity, or true favourites only. If you put too much on now, most of your pre-op period will just be getting rid of the crap you eat over the next few days, and that's a waste of time.
