Decided it was time for a change (hair)

Looks real nice!! Red hair is kind of fun.
  2. I think I would tell her, it would be much worse if they tested you for nicotine and have it show up after you didn't tell them. Better safe than sorry in this case for sure. You are having major surgery and you want all the breaks you can get. As for what to take to the hospital....Gas X, chap stick, loose clothes. I would make sure that your clothes had snaps or buttons so you don't need to put your arms over your head to get dressed. Bring something comfortable for the ride home. Good Luck and keep us posted on your Journey.

Dumping what does it feel like?

I start sweating, get dizzy, and my heart races. I get the back door trots and get very sick to my tummy. Basically, I never know what is going to set me into "The Foamy's" Sometimes it will be something I had ate before. It also feels like I am going to throw up. It also feels like I have something stuck, feels like it is in my throat. The sad thing is if and when I have thrown up I immediately feel better. I also hav e to lie down. I get so weak and shaky. I also have what my Dr calls rebound blood sugar. He said that my blood sugar gets to low and then my body pushes insulin into my body making my blood sugar HIGH. Weird feeling for sure. I hope this helps. I'm sorry that I went on and on. Have a great Sunday!!

    Calcium Citrate

    Yes it is included. D-3
  5. I know that BARIATRIC PAL is a good source of info but I know for a fact you can do this without buying their products. You can make your own Bone Broth. Make pretty much all you will need. On another note I have also heard that the RE-SET doesn't work. Years ago when my friend had her RNY (it was called Gastric Bypass then) Her Dr. had he do a test with measured out cottage cheese. She was told to get a cup of CC and eat until she was full but not over stuffed. You might want to try something like that. Also, I don't know if you have heard but our bodies can only use 30 grams of protein at a time. Anything more than that is just lost when we go Pee Pee. Sorry for that I don't want to offend anyone.

    Calcium Citrate

Walmart carries them in EQUATE brand. Be sure to buy the petites. They are smaller. Depending on how far out you are you might need to cut them down too. That is what my Surgeon suggested and I have always used the EQUATES with no problems, My blood work has always been great except my B12. It has always been high. They had me doing the sublingual everyday after my surgery, then it was one time a week Now I use it twice a week in the HAIR SKIN AND NAILS pills I take.

    Sleeve with Diet Pills?

My hubby had the SLEEVE almost 2 years ago. He does take GC. But I don't really think it is a good thing. Like was said up ur exercise, watch and write everything you eat and drink. You might need to up your protein if you aren't getting enough. Shake things up to try to get your WL going!! Take care and keep us posted on your journey.

    No family support

You can do this!! With or without their help!! You are the one that has to buckle down and prove to them "IT'S ALL GOOD"!! Maybe they are just worred about you. Maybe take them to a DR's appointment or even to a support group where they can ask ?'s and put their minds and hearts from worrying about it all. You can always come on here to get some support but I get it!! You need your family to be there for you!! Keep your eyes on the prize!! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!! Again YOU have got this!!

    Really struggling- 5 weeks out

BTW our relationship with food is forever changed. We come to a point in our journey and realize that food no longer controls us. We control every bite or drink we take. No more running to food for comfort or whatever our food addictions were. It is a freeing moment when we figure this out.

    Really struggling- 5 weeks out

Lie everyone has said we promise...IT WILL GET BETTER. At which time you will think to yourself WOW!! Why was I so worried. I am getting healthy and food doesn't have that CONTROL over me any more. You just took your life back!!! Great things are coming down the pike for you. As far as your left side hurting, it could be what was sad that is where they removed you stomach with the Sleeve or if you are RNY the left side is where they put the instruments thru. My DR's Nurse told me that some people have so much pain that they need a Lidocaine shot. I hope everything works out for you. Take care and keep us posted on how you are!!

    Safe to sleep on stomach?

If only!! I was always a stomach sleeper. Not so much now. I'm not sure if it is because of my RNY now, or after my skin removal surgey. There is no way I can sleep on my stomach now. It feels like my skin is stretching out. So now I am a side sleeper. I sleep on my right side if I have gas it seems to help getting rid of it if I lie on my left side. I a one of the old ones but not to much help. Sorry

    I PUKED LAST NIGHT!

It was for sure!! Everything is fine now. But...if my stomach hurts even a little my first thought is OH NO not again!! LOL Nothing yet. Thank goodness

    How youuuu poopin’?

I have a quick ? I am plagued by The Big constipation issue. I tried Metemucle (however it is spelled) it made it worse, bloated and feeling horrible. Panic and pain made me buy MIRALAX. My cousin said she uses it everyday. Well the instructions tell you to only use it for 1 week. In your post you also said you use it everyday. Is it safe for us to use longer? I don't see my Dr until next month and this is kind of important to me. LOL Maybe I should ask one of these DR's on here. LOL If you have more knowledge than I do please share. It is kind of something we need to know. LOL

    I PUKED LAST NIGHT!

Well Well, how well I know about Ralphin!! I had Strictures and started vomiting very soon after my RNY. I had 5 ENDOSCOPES with 4 DIALATIONS. I had the FOAMIES more times than I can count. I couldn't keep even water down. I took my sleeping pills and was throwing up all night the next morning still going at it and up comes 2 Amitriptlyn undigested they had set on top of my pouch all night and came out as they went in!! I got so tired of driving 2 hours away to see my Surgeon. From Nov 2013, Dec 2013 Jan 2014 July 2014 with my last one Jan 2015. BTW I fired my Dr. and now I have to drive 4 hour drive but at least I am comfortable with that Bariatric Center. For those of you that go out of the States and are worried about after care, you can get DR's to take you on. Also, my PCP orders my blood work and I have her add what the Bariatric DR needs and then it is faxed to them. I only have to see them if needed. There we are done cryin here. LOL

    Happy Valintines Day

Can I get a fourth on this!! It is HARD!! Not only for my family but for me also. Our lives have always been about eating. My hubby and I have been married for 45 years coming this Aug. Everything is or was about food!! On our Anniversary's, our Birthdays, every pay day was a celebration with food. It has been really hard on my hubby and my daughter because we found any reason to do lunch. I don't care to go out. The fear of getting sick and stressed about what to order. Now my hubby has had his Sleeve and he is still (after 2 years) missing the amounts of food I think he is actually mourning!! But kind of finding it nice about the amounts he now eats. He says Man I still feel like I can eat 10 tacos when in fact he eats 2. We marvel at how cheap we can eat out now and how much we know what to eat but our tummys say no when our brain says YES!! It defintly is hard on everyone. Even tho I am over 4 years out every once and awhile I think I want something that I know might make me sick, but I will risk it. WHAM, I will NEVER eat that again. LOL Just one bite and I remember why I don't eat that. Thank you for sharing part of your journey with us. Take care and I look forward to seeing more posts from you!! BTW HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! There is more to life than CHOCOLATE!!!

    Approx 1 year weight loss.

I actually went below my goal weight but I had some complications due to Strictures. I lost 132 in 6 months but I did gain up to 125#'s now I weigh 124 to 129#'s. Which I will take in a New York minute. I got to my goal and haven't lost any more. I didn't have but 1 gain when I was 6 months out. I jumped on my scales and it said I was up 1#. The next day (after I was so bummed) I lost 3#'s. I think when you are told about the Honeymoon Phase being your 1st year to 1 and 1/2 is not always the bottom line. It may get harder to loose as quickly but from seeing posts on here there are many thatkeep losing longer. Good Luck on your Journey!!
  18. I can relate to what you are going thru!! I didn't have as much done it seems but...2006 I had back surgery. I had 2 rods and cadaver bones put in. I can honestly say with everything in me, I wished they had let me die!! It was horrible. The first 3 months was so terrible. Imagine weighing 250#'s and going thru back surgery. This is something I would never wish on even my worst enemy!! But now I am so glad I did it. It's even better since I lost my weight. Hon, I feel so bad for everything you are going thru. I wish I had some magic to work on you with. I don't of course. But try your hardest to REMEMBER why you did your WLS. KEEP YOUR EYES ON YOUR PRIZE and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!

    Onederland!

Congraduations!!! Job well done!! Nothing like that KERPLUNK!! Thats what we called the scales like the old time scales that had the weights you moved down. It rather sounds like a KERPLUNK!! Beautiful music to our ears!! Right
  20. You can also us cottage cheese with Sugar Free strawberry jelly mix well. It kind of taste like a strawberry cheesecake. We also make what my kids call Pony Puck, don't let the name scare you off it is very good. You take a large SF Jello (any favor you like) we use Strawberry. Add SF Fat Free Cool whip and a small container of cottage cheese add mandarin oranges drained mix well. It is so good!!

    81 mg aspirin, enteric

I can't say anything about the coated aspirin but...I do have knowledge about what happens when I took aspirin. I was having some problems with heart palpitations and feeling like I was passing out, so my PCP had me start an aspirin 81mg's right away. H scheduled a stress test physically induced and then medication induced stress tests. All that time he had me taking the aspirin. He thought it was my heart but it was dehydration. I ended up getting an ulcer. I had to take this junk called CARAFATE it was not great tasting at all. Now none wanted to admit that it was the asiprin but I truley think it was caused from it. I only use Tylenol now. Even tho it is almost useless. But it took me so long to heal that ulcer I don't want to have to go thru that again. I'm sorry that I don't have an anwser about the coated ones. Have a great Sunday.

6 weeks with gastric by pass.

Hang in there!! Keep tack of everything that you eat or drink. Your body has been under a lot of stress. I can say this much you are not alone with worrying and stressing out about the STALLS!! It just takes time and patience. Make sure you are getting enough protein and fluids. Maybe add some exercise and DON'T cut your calories to low. Keeping track of things will help with the stalls. As long as you are doing the things that your Surgeon's guidelines just TRUST the process. Good Luck

    Bad taste in mouth?

Every since my RNY my taste and my smell have increased so much. I also still get that metal taste to this day. My sense of smell is so good yesterday while I was in Safeway it smelt like burning wires over by the food court. Noone else could smell it and when I told them about it she looked at me like I had 2 heads. I'm not sure if anything happened but I sure do smell things sharper now. My taste is so weird, I always loved onions and garlic. IT has taken me over 3 years to be able to eat it again!! If I smell something off, which I do quite a bit nw. I just can't eat it. Makes me sick to tummy everytime. Hopefully you won't be like this long. I even have a hard time drinking our water. It is City water and I have been drinking it forever. Now I have to buy bottled water and drink it real cold. Have a great weeked!!

    Food Restrictions

I didn't have any of the pasta or rice until I was 3 years out. I was afraid it would hurt my stomach. I didn't have any of the other restrictions but after my RNY by the time I ate my protein first and after many strictures and needing 5 ENDOSCOPES/and 4 dialations, the opening was where the tightness was. I couldn't eat much at a time. BTW I went below my goal weight at that time. I did lose pretty fast. My Surgeon and my Nutritionist both told me right up front. There are no forbidden foods in time. You have to learn to eat in Moderation. Now some people don't agree with this statement, they will say eating those foods are what got us to this place to begin with. Each of us need to find our nitch in our new found life and make the best of what works for you. Good Luck
