Balloon Removed and Feelin' Fine! :-)

I would like to know if you had any other weight loss surgeries or not? Is this a way to get back on your program or is it just to help you lose the weight? You seemed to do well. I had my RNY 3 years ago and I have been successful in keeping off my weight but my hubby just had a Sleeve done and he isn't losing his weight near as fast as I feel he would have with the RNY. His mind hunger is totally taking him down!!! Thank you in advance
  3. Thank you I also registered.
  4. Diva Taunia It was awful for sure!! When he had his Lap Band the Dr told him he wasn't strong enough for the RNY. But at that time he was still able to work as a Truck Driver, and that is a very hard job. Which most people don't realize. Anyhow he was the first man to get the VANGUARD Band. And because his weight was over 500#'s, she just assumed that he ate all of the time!! Which for the most part was untrue. Yes, he was a big eater but we felt that his weight problem was also due to WHAT we ate!! She really did him an injustice. He could have handled the RNY easily. It sure would have helped him without everything he has gone thru now. I tried to explain to him that there are tons of People that are successful with the band, he is just not convinced. LOL After he had his Sleeve in June he isn't working his program much. I thought that it would have at least made him more aware of what and how much he is eating. Heck, I see lots of people losing large amount of weight!! He just doesn't deal well with head hunger!! I try to help him and I know he gets mad but this is a LIFE AND DEATH situation here. He has Kidney Cancer and his size prevents them from being able to do anything about it. I am so worried, they told him if he does nothing he will more than likely have 4 years with 2 being PURE HELL for him!! You would think that he would try harder. I'm sorry for the long posts. Sometimes I just don't have anyone to listen to me. He is my BEST friend and we have been married for 43 years and I just don't want to lose him and be alone! Thank's for listening.
  5. This was a great video. But not all school officials are following what should be done. My 2 grandchildren have been bullied all through their school life. My granddaughter started getting teased in the 2nd grade. First, it was about her not having name brand clothes. I feel like that comes from their parents. Then in the 6th grade, she was bullied teased and even physical abused. With nothing being done. Two of her teachers even said mean and ugly things to her!! When it was brought to the Principal's attention nothing was done. My daughter even has talked to the Superintendent nothing being done!! I wanted to write a letter to the newspaper about all of it. But I was begged not to do this. She was afraid it would just get worse. I hate that this stuff has gotten so out of control. She is now a Sophmore in High School and has even tried to other schools. SAD
  6. Hi I'm 3 years out and I deal with lots of gas!! But I eat a lot of Beans and cheese because I have a hard time with most meat. I can tell you one of my life savers is PAPAYA ENZYMES they are natural and they help with gas and digestion. I buy them at Walmart for less than $5.00. They're so very amazing. I carry them with me constantly. I'm not a DR so you should run it by your Dr.

How Did You Get Through the Pre-Op Diet?

Personally, I was too afraid to cheat on my PREOP because I wanted this so bad! And I didn't want them to cancel my RNY because I couldn't do 2 weeks of prep!! Afterwards, I did 4 weeks of Protein drinks and again I was too afraid to eat. It took me quite awhile to even eat what I was allowed. I didn't want to undo anything. Plus afterwards, I didn't have the hunger to deal with!! I also am a very determined person when I make up my mind to do something, so this was one of time being stubborn worked to my advantage!!

What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

I pretty much drink flavored Water. I use the SF Crush packets, ORANGE AND GRAPE CRUSH. I also love Diet Peach Snapple Tea. I am also a coffee drinker, I have at least 1 cup per day made with my Keurig Coffee with added GENEPRO NONFLAVORED Protein. I love my coffee so it is a win win for me. I know some DR's say no coffee but mine never told me not to drink it. I have had no problems with it. I'm 3 yrs out and have been at my goal weight of 125#'s for 2 and 1/2 years.

    Idiot dater (Rant warning)

OKCPirate I noticed that your SURGEON was JOSE Rodriquez did you have your surgery in Juarez Mexico? My hubby had his WLS surgery thru him on June 3, 2016. Just curious.

I HAVE NO FRIENDS! (Sad face!)

I would love to be your friend. Heck a person can never have enough friends!!
  12. You are doing AWESOME with your Water and PROTEIN!!! The swelling may be caused by your surgery. After my RNY I felt like I had lost a lot of weight but when I was weighed I hadn't lost a single #. You are 12 days out so you should see the swelling going down. Also I know this might sound funny but I have been told to up my water when I was swollen. It is supposed to push the swelling out. Again you are doing great. KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

    Vomiting

    You are very welcome!!!
  14. Diva Taunia Thank you for answering my ?. I was just curious about that. But...I myself would never ever have the Lap Band. My hubby had his for around 13 years and he did lose 100#'s but...he was over 500#'s. Truthfully, he could have done better because he didn't follow his guidelines. So in 2013 his band malfunctioned. He went to a BARIATRIC CENTER with the Excellence award. When they went in to do his Revision the band had eroded into his liver. There was so much scar tissue and bleeding they backed out and we were told that they would do it in 3 months after he healed. Long story short he developed abscesses and was deathly sick for 9 months and 3 months he doesn't remember. So he was on hold again. The Surgeon that tried to do the Revision refused to operate on him again. He actually called him a problem child. Off to OHSU, we went they were going to do his revision but they wanted him to lose 20#'s and get his A1C down to a 7. If his A1c was good he couldn't lose weight same way as the weight down blood sugar up!!. We finally went to Mexico in June of 2016. He ended up having the Sleeve because his whole right side was solid scar tissue. So as you see the Lap Band isn't something I would attempt. Not that I need to at this point, my RNY has helped me be successful in my weight loss. His weight loss is real slow but at least he is losing!! Sorry for the book. LOL Did Carney have good results with her BAND OVER RNY?

    Vomiting

That was exactly how I felt. I had strictures. I had 5 endoscopes with 4 dilations. Starting just about 2 months after my RNY. ( July 2, 2013) I finally called and went in for my 1st in NOV of 2013, then in Dec 2013. Jan 2014 July 2014 with my last one in Jan of 2015. I haven't had any more trouble thank goodness. I feel like that is part of the reason I lost my weight so fast. I could hardly hold down Water. Lots of vomiting. At first, it was so hard to throw up it hurt so bad!! Then it got to where it wasn't an effort at all. Scary stuff. So keep on it, my friend. You have to be pushy sometimes. Dr's need to be pushed to find out what is going on. Good luck

    Positive WLS NSV

WELL, I was going to post my NSV's too. Your post was so inspiring. I am 60 years old and had my RNY on July 2, 2013. I lost 132#'s in 6 months. I am 5.4 and I got down to 117#'s, but I felt like HELL my Surgeon and my PCP got worried because they thought I was losing muscle. So I did end up gaining 8#'s. You would be amazed at how much better I felt after just those 8#'s. So now I weigh 125 and have maintained this weight for 2 and 1/2 years. So now amoung many NSV's let me say I was on insulin with pills to try to correct my Diabetes. I was so insulin resistant that my PCP wanted to throw up his arms and give up. I took 12 different meds, now I take 4 no Diabetes meds at all and 1/2 of my blood pressure medications. I just can't get around stress. ( BTW if someone knows how please let me know) I am now able to exercise. I do have health issues still FIBROMYALGIA and ARTHRITIS. But I NOW can walk 4 to 5 times a week and 4 to 5 miles each time. AWESOME STUFF!! But one of my favorite NSV's was when my 9 and 11 year old grandkids came and set with me in my recliner and FIT with ROOM TO SPARE!!! So Precious!! There are so many others but I will stop now. LIFE is so much sweeter now!!
  18. I didn't realize she went from the RNY to the Lap Band. How could they do that? I thought it was a way risky surgery to revise from the RNY. My hubby had his Lap-Band for 13 years and himself among other has had nothing but trouble with them. Does she think the band will be more successful?

    Kaiser Questions

Well, you can look into going to Mexico. It is a lot cheaper. But I wouldn't suggest BELITE, they send their patients to JUAREZ. The surgeon is amazing but the Hospital really isn't anywhere close to the USA. But I have heard that in Tijuana it is much better. My hubby had his SLEEVE done in Juarez and like I said our experience wasn't too good with the practice of their hospital. It was called STAR MEDICAL or just MED I don't totally remember.

    Operation 18th October

Hang on you are about to start one of the most AMAZING Journey's of your life!!! GOOD LUCK
  22. BTW I was told to start my vitamins before my RNY. See different guidelines for each TEAM>
  23. Another thing I found out ( not soon enough for myself) but my Surgeon finally told me that it will take time to reach those goals for both the protein and fluids. But the main concern is drinking your fluids it doesn't take long for us to become dehydrated so keep sipping! Also later on your protein counts toward your fluids per my Surgeon after I was totally stressed about it!! LOL

I'm at 8 weeks since surgery!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You are doing great!! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!
