Share your story: Weird body habits post-op
shedo82773 replied to Rose400491's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am 4 years out and I also have a signal that I am full...but I have been watching a pattern here!! Yes, I do get hiccups after I am full it just doesn't happen soon enough!! Its like 1 bite too much and I feel like my skin is stretched as far as it will go. I had my Panni done over 2 years ago so I am slowly figuring this out. Lol Right after my RNY I definitely knew way before to stop. If I lie down it sort of stops the pull. I know I am strange. You would think I would have it all figured out by now but...things change a bit. I had lots of vomiting before now not so much. My nose use to run nope not now. I have to be totally aware of how much I put into my mouth now. Just the woes of WLS I guess!! Have a great one. BTW I did have BIG PROBLEMS and I did develope an aversion to food due to Strictures and I needed 5 ENDOSCOPES with 4 Dialtions. Being so sick for the first year and 1/2 at least. It was very hard to eat I was always afraid it would hurt my tummy or I would be up vomiting again. Have a great day!! -
Molly23 There is no shame in your game---go to a counselor maybe that can help you thru these times. I did try counseling but she didn't have a clue about WLS. Granted she tried. It just didn't help me. I developed an aversion to food. From getting sick after eating or drinking. So I ask my DR if I should see a Nutritionist Bariatric of course. What a joke!! She told me to eat every 1/2 hour I was awake and to drink High-Calorie BOOST protein drink. Now here is a person that has had eating disorders her whole adult life and went thru major surgery to lose her weight!! NOT HAPPENING!!! I told my hubby that there was no way that I would trade one eating disorder for another!! I didn't follow her advice. Things worked out after my last Endoscope and dilation. Due to scar tissue, I had to have 5 Endo's with 4 dialations. The last one was January of 2015. I know that was why I lost so fast (I was at goal weight in 6 months) Magic cure by a new Bariatric Surgeon. YAY ME!!! I hope you get better advice and help than I did. Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Just a little side note here peeps. BariatricPal Store has a coffee that has no acid!! I love it, so does my hubby. I ordered 1 bag to try and went back and bought 4 more. It is a little bit high on the cost but...I think it is worth it. I haven't had any kinds of problems with regular coffee but I thought heck it can't hurt to try it. So glad I did. We love it!! -
Plastics or no plastics ?

I'm not sure about the tummy tuck but my Panni was simple pieman!! The worse thing was I had to have my daughter come and change my band-aids and those pesky drains!! The pain was nothing. I walked and got up real slow because it did feel like it pulled sometimes. Like I said easy peasy skin removal. -

Oh you should see me naked. LOL Like I said I look like a melting candle from my back. Like I said my PS removed 0#'s plus. The only way I got the Panni done is because it was medically needed. But I wish I had paid the extra for a tummy tuck. Oh Well, we all just do what we have to do, THANK GOODNESS my clothes covers up most of it. I even tried that high waisted spandex but all I could think of was getting home to get the DANG thing off. I had the hardest time finding bras that held me, I did find some called SHAPEEZ they cover some of the fat on my arms and down my back so I don't have bumps that look awful. They were expensive but I feel like they are worth it. In the end, we are just our own worst critics. 10Plus#'s -

I had a Panni (skin removal on my tummy). I was 2 years out and had maintained my weight for 1 and 1/2 years. Anyone having PS I would recommend doing the Tummy tuck, not just a panni. I feel like my PS ripped me off big time. Now I am happy with the skin removal (they took 10 plus #'s off) but he didn't do what we had agreed on. He was supposed to cut me down the middle plus the below my belly like a big smiley face. He then told me that he would pull all of my loose skin U and Around. Right away I started asking him ?'s about my upper stomach, he first said it would go down it was swelling. NOT!!! He only removed the stomach skin!! I look like a melting candle in the back. I have tight skin on my upper stomach but he now told me I needed Lipo. I feel like he deceived me! He was hoping to make more work for himself!! He told me that he would do a deal for me. A breast lift (I had talked some about it) and Lipo for $6,000.00 Since then I have done some pricing around and t is a good price but....he won't get my business if I ever decide to finish it all. I feel like clothes can hide a multitude of sins for sure. I have to buy bigger clothes due to my upper stomach. But I don't know if I will ever really accept my body. LOl I do know when I lost we ght while I was younger I did NOT have these skin issues at all. But I am 61YO now and believe me get it off while you are younger. I sure wish I had. My daughter is 38 and overweight I keep telling her to get it off now because it will get harder as you age. I'm not sure she beleives me tho. -

I'm asking not judging so is it safe to eat venison rare? I am not a fan of venison but I do like Elk steaks. Is it because venison is similar to beef? Just an inquiring mind that needs to know!! LOL -
Which hospital ?
shedo82773 replied to Kristi Jacobs's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My hubby had his WLS thru BeLiteWeight, our experience wasn't quite as great as your experience. We also went to Juarez Mexico. Must not have been the same Hospital!! Our driver took us to the wrong Hospital. LOL Most of the staff didn't know much English even down to the little Cafeteria. Which we were told was a big place. NOT!! BeLite told us that because he didn't have the RNY and that is what we had paid for. We didn't even get the amount back that they had promised. Our trip was not great!! Never would we travel outside of the USA again. Wait...I might be tempted to go thru BariatricPal Mexico Service. Oh, how we have wished that he could have gone there. Because BeLite charged more...he thought they would be a better service!! You know the old saying "You get what you pay for"!! Not so true in this case. Sorry, to complain so much but people should go into things with their eyes wide open!! -
I Have a cholonoscopy today :/
shedo82773 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Funny you just hit it on the nail head for my hubby, instead of going thru it all now they gave him a little box as you said above. He said he doesn't know if he can do it. Playing in poop isn't his idea of playing at all. LOL -
Are kids vitamin supplements good enough?
shedo82773 replied to Biddy zz 🏳️🌈's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Myself I have always taken vitamins made for WL people. I know after I fired my Surgeon and went to another Bariatric Surgeon and was told that FLINTSTONE Vitamins if doubled, would be enough. But they were horrible!! After my RNY I was told to use chewable Centrum, way too sweet for me. I couldn't wait to get something else. In comes CELEBRATE capsules. If you wanted to (told by my DR) you can open them and sprinkle them on applesauce or other food. I had no problems swallowing them. I do feel it is very important to use Bariatric Vitamins but each to their own. I hope you can get this worked out. -
Thanks!! I love soup, it is so satisfying since my WLS. Before I had to thicken it with tons of crackers!!
-
YES!!! I have!! Like you I had tried many many different diets and would always gain back even more than I had lost. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. I had problems starting like right after my surgery but...I thought it was normal. I had 5 Endoscopes with 4 dilations. I lost 132#'s in 6 months. I had a small gain. And then I maintained my weight of 125-129 for 3 and 1/2 years. I was on insulin 2 times a day 100units and Metformin for my Diabetes. Also, I took 12 different medication. Now I am off all diabetic meds and I only take 4 meds now plus my vitamins. My health has improved so much it is almost like day and night. I can now exercise, I walk 3 to 4 miles 3 to 4 times a week. I no way had the problems you've had for sure. Thank Goodness it is in your past. May you get everything your heart desires. Hang tight!!

shedo82773 replied to Jacquie605's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What is this post above? REALLY!!! You've got to kidding!! -
I've heard that FLINTSTONE Vitamins are good, I tried them after I changed Bariatric DR.'s and that is what they told me. They are so nasty!!! I have always taken CELEBRATE capsules. No taste, just swallow and go. CENTRUM chewables are too sweet for me!!

Thanks for caring so much. My hubby and I have decided to skip the BIG DINNER at my daughter's house this year because we don't want to be faced with the leftovers. We are going out for dinner. NO MESS & NO FUSS!!! We each have to do whatever it is that gets us thru it!! May we all have a Happy Thanksgiving and celebrate each other and not the food!! -

DON'T BEAT yourself up too hard. It might take a couple days to get yourself back on your program. It seems like when I fall off big time it takes awhile to get it together!! You've got this. You can do it. Your Dr is there to help you with your insurance. Just KEEP ON KEEPING ON!! -
That must be hard. How much longer do you have to take the Steroids? Hopefully not much longer. Just hang in there, it will get better. This isn't an on-going thing right.

Isopure unflavored protein tips
shedo82773 replied to Rose400491's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Before you buy this be sure to check in with your Dr or Nutritionist. But...I a huge coffee drinker for sure. BTW BariatricPal Store has a new product, it is NO ACID COFFEE Even my hubby likes it. LOL So back to unflavored Protein: I put GENEPRO in my Espresso every day. No taste at all. Win-win for me!!! It definitely has no taste at all. I tried ISOPURE and personally, it was so gross!! I commend anyone that can drink it!! GROSS!! I tried a protein unflavored called PROTEINEX!! According to my DR. that is why I ordered it. He was wrong!! -

I was a really good girl for around 1 and 1/2 years. Trying to eat and focus only on my eating and taking my time to chew. I still don't drink with my meals. I know that is something I will do for the rest of my life. It is one thing I won't have a problem with because it hurts my "PRISSY POUCH" if I try to drink. I notice I have got away from the sit down at the table etc. So I guess I should get back to basic's. -

Let's Dish!!! Do You Still Like To Cook and Interact With Food?
shedo82773 replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When my kids were young and still at home. I let my kids pick just one thing that they hated. My son picked TOMATOES and my daughter picked BEANS!!! They didn't have to eat them ever!! Otherwise, they had to eat what I fixed for dinner. Funny thing is now they love what they hated while they were young!! Good thing they loved to eat, must have got this from their DAD. LOL We both had to get WLS. HA HA
