Surgery in the morning!
shedo82773 replied to Chiefsfan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Your life is about to be a whirlwind!! But OH so worth it. I look forward to following your journey!! -
Wow!! I'm so sorry that you have had all of the S**TY stuff. I had my gallbladder removed in 1980 after my daughter was born. I suffered from the back door trots all the time, I knew every bathroom in every store I went to. I would eat and within 15 to 30 minutes I would be in the bathroom. This went on for 12 years, then I had my GBladder removed. Still pooping big time. Noone said one word of having to watch your fats and sugar!! After my RNY I tend to go the other end of the Spectrum. More constipation. After a quack, Dr told me I had an ulcer and treated it with meds. But never stopped my pain from it. (gallbladder) I have never heard what has happened to you. Do they think it is was caused by your WLS? Man, I hope you get better soon. BTW even tho my Gallbladder has been gone for 36Years, I can still have what my mom called Phantom pains!!! Good Luck sending huge hugs!!!

I wish I had a miracle to give you. But I don't. Just realize you can make everything better but it takes strength!! One day at a time or even one step at a time. NEVER let anyone take your worth away!! I'm sure you will get thru this!! I can listen to you at any time. Take it easy and remember you are not alone. -
Surgeon's expectations
shedo82773 replied to NewYorkOldBody's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just a quickie here, I was 57YO when I had my RNY. I weighed 249#'s and 232 the day of my surgery. My PA told me that I would be 150#'s by Dec. I had my RNY in July and I lost down to 117#'s. But I did have to have 5Endoscopes with 4 Dialations (kind of like scar tissue) I couldn't hold down anything. But by Jan of 2014 I was at my goal (actually a little below 117) I did gain up to 125#'s. Which I have maintained my weight of 125 to 129#'s for 3 and 1/2 years. BTW I do have to take LEXOTHYROID every day. A small amount of .075. He might have wanted you to set your own goals and he expected that in 18 months you would be at your goal weight. Your kind of lucky because my Dr. never gave me a goal weight only to say that by Dec I would be 150#'s which I blew out of the water. LOL You just take it easy and don't stress even if it does take you a little longer, IT'S ALL GOOD!!! -
Walking is the best way to get rid of gas. The more you do it the better. I also take a Natural PAPAYA ENZYME, but run it by your Dr before you take it. Don't pressure yourself drinking the protein. The thing you should concentrate on is fluids and I think I was told to sip a small amount. Your new tummy is still in a healing way. Also, whatever amount of protein you get in counts toward your fluids. I can't remember the amount but I am sure you won't be able to get much down at first. As you see I am a little over 4 years out. I'm sure someone newer will let you know. Have a great recovery!!!

I have seen a while back on PINTREST there was a BIG MAC CHEESEBURGER recipe. PINTERST has lots of recipes for all kinds of different diets ETC> You might check things out, you never know what you will find. Have a great day.

You are looking great!! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!! -
Bridgette, if you had yours done that long ago, it could be what was said earlier. They called it a Gastric Bypass and did it with stapes. If that is true my cousin had her stomach stapled and it was horrible!! She gained more weight than she lost. Plus, she was sicker than a dog the whole time. She got a bell pepper stuck (from her last supper as it is called) Chinese dinner. They put a tube down her nose with meat tenderizer going thru trying to get the pepper unlodged. Didn't work so they had to reopen her up and when they pulled her stomach down it ruptured her Spleen so she lost that and was so sickly for so long. Everything that came along she got sick from. So sad and then insult to injury she weighs more than she did before her stomach stapling. I am so glad you getting things done. Stay on those people, they need to be Black Balled from being WL surgeons. Good luck

I have slowly realized that I have to try everything on!!! I hate it too. I had a dang nightmare going to Costco and trying on some jeans. They don't have a dressing room so you have to pay for them, then try them on in the freakin bathroom. Each Pair. I tried on the size I usually wear, and I went from a size 8 to a size 12 in the Jordash jeans!! Gloria Vanderville jeans were worse yet. It almost broke my heart to buy a size 12 jeans. But...IT IS WHAT IT IS!!! Right, Sherrie get over it!! LOL

Unflavored Protein Powder
shedo82773 replied to megamedic691's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I tried so many unflavored proteins!! I really would hate to know how much $$ I have spent since my RNY. I commend anyone that can get the ISOPURE down, Yucky. I have used GENEPRO for quite now. I am a huge coffee hound, I temper the powder in warm water and add it to my Espresso every day!! A WIN WIN for me!! -

What? Sexting?? Is this really what there is to look forward to?
shedo82773 replied to 336Mike's topic in The Lounge
I'm also married and have been for many years (44years) I don't envy you at all. I swear I would rather live alone with my cat and dog if something happened to my best sweet honey. I wouldn't even know how to get started. LOL Hang in there, someone out there is looking for a nice guy. Which to me you sound like a super guy!! Not wanting boobs all over your hone is a huge PLUS!!! -
BTW I forgot to say this about my taste. Sometimes it has a horrible bitter taste and sometimes tastes like metal. I was told by a fellow Bariatric person that I should have my vitamins or reg medicatons checked out. But I have had this bitter and tin taste before my RNY. I do think it has got worse too. Not fun sometimes this is why I chew gum all the time. LOL Another story there!!
-
Good for you!! I guess they figure your recommendation can go long ways out touching many others and telling what happened to you can be a little scary for them. I'm glad they are calling you and trying to check things out for you. Good Luck

Hi, I had my RNY on July 2nd 2013. I lost 132#'s within 6 months. I ended up needing 5 ENDOSCOPES with 4 Dialations. I did gain a few #'s back but it was after I could eat and drink. I had strictures and couldn't hold anything down. I have maintained my weight at 125-129#'s for 3 and 1/2 years. The reason I decided on the RNY was I was insulin resistant and took 100units of insulin 2 times a day with 500mg of METFORMIN and still couldn't get my blood sugar under control. I was on 12 different meds and now I am on 4 plus my vitamins. My life is so much better sometimes I think I should just pinch myself to make sure it all happened to me and not someone else. I was 57YO when I had my surgery. Now I am 61. I hear people say they wish they would have done WLS many years ago...not me I really don't think I was ready before the time I did it. I also told myself that I have one last shot at getting my weight off and trying like HECK to keep it off. For myself, it has all worked out for the best!! I am so glad I did finally take a real HARD look at where I was headed and I want to be around for my grandkids ads, I don't want them to remember that their NANA was fat!!! I want them to remember me as able to do fun stuff with them and be around to help guide them into a GREAT FUTURE!! Only you can choose what is best for you!! Have a great day and welcome!!

MAN O MIGHTY!!! That is horrible!! Are they still in business? If so I would try to follow up with them and see what they have to say about this SCAM!!! The very least you are due, is a refund!!! So sorry for everything that has happened to you!!! Hang tight and have a great day or evening I should say.

shedo82773 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you for your suggestions!!! I use Papaya Enzymes a lot. They help with gas and upset tummy. I have tried to eat a steak so many times and once and awhile I can eat a little, but I never know when PRISSY will act up!! -
Yes Yes!!! My sense of smell also my taste. I am over 4 years out and it was forever before I could stand the smell or taste of garlic and onions. I use to love them both. I also have a higher sense of cigarettes!! I live in a mobile trailer park and lots of people smoke around me. I smell it even when no one else can smell it. I use to smoke and have quit at least 4 times....the last time I used Chantex. I now CANNOT stand cigarettes. All of the other times I still craved them not now. My smeller has got better but it still has its times. I hope yours get better for you!!

Thanks, I don't think I need to worry as we don't hunt etc and our BIL hasn't got an Elk in forever. I wonder if deer or elk would be easier on my stomach. I have a hard time with Beef now. My "PRISSY POUCH" pretty much decides what it wants and what it wants to get rid of. LOL
