    Alcohol, parties, fun?

I'm not understanding the connection between not drinking and "losing your social life". Why can't you go out with your friends and have a good time without having alcohol in your glass?

    Vegas, Baby!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I was able to walk down the aisle of the plane without turning sideways. WHAT???? I thought only flight attendants did that! On the flight home, the exit row seats were the same kind as on a bulkhead row - fixed armrests with the tray table in the armrest. I fit comfortably with no problem. And I was able to bend forward, with the seat belt on, to pick up something off the floor. OH MY GAWD! IT'S LIKE I'M A NORMAL PERSON!
  4. I think the fact that you feel you can't live without it is the exact reason why you should avoid it. I feel the same way about bread. Crusty, garlicky, cheesy bread. Last week in Vegas, at 7 months out, I had one small bite of bread at a French cafe. Meh. Now I can definitely live without it.

    Vegas, Baby!

So, had a good flight. Had a good date wednesday. Classes were good on thursday. Until... My voice started getting scratchy Thursday afternoon. Still, went on a date Thursday night. Woke up this morning with no voice whatsoever. (and the masses cheered) Now I have enough of it back, deep and throaty, that I could be a phone sex operator. Went to most of my classes, skipped the last one. Resting in my room now on the 13th floor overlooking the strip, before I go out on another date. Flight home is in the morning.

    Post-Op Probiotic

That's true, but we're talking about probiotics, not proton pump inhibitors.

How long til I can drive?

My hospital offered to let me drive home, since I hadn't taken pain meds that day. I was surprised, but declined as I had a driver.

    Anyone have bad leg cramps?

I'm 6 1/2 months out, and for the last two days, I've had excruciating cramps, not only in my calves, but in the front of my thighs. The first night of this, I was awake every 90 minutes or so, walking them out. I talked to my boss (a physician), and took a muscle relaxer (that I already had), potassium, and some extra Calcium. I already drink about 90 ounces of Fluid a day. Last night was better, I only woke up once, but my legs are very tight and achy today. I'm hoping this is a temporary situation.

    Not enough food

I'm six and a half months out and I can only eat one scrambled egg with a little cheese. I would be in a world of hurt if I ate two plus a banana. I think whoever wrote your meal plan has scrambled brains. Just sayin'.
  15. You can order Soup. I usually order a regular dinner that will reheat well, and eat a few bites. Something like steak or grilled chicken. Or I order an appetizer. If you start doing that now, and alternate with a regular meal at these dinners, then I think it would be less noticeable when you make the entire switch. If anybody says anything, you can always say you're trying to watch what you eat.

    NSV shout outs

Today I'm wearing jeans for the first time since about 1999. They are a pair of misses size 22 that I had in a box in my garage. A pulled them out of the garage around Christmas I think. At that time I couldn't pull them all the way up. Then a few weeks later, I could pull them all the way up but not button/zip them. Then I could button/zip, but not breathe at the same time. Today I'm wearing them to work (doctor is out in surgery so we have no patients, so it's casual), and they are comfortably buttoned/zipped. I don't care if they are out of date (they are very faded) and kind of look like mom jeans. I'M WEARING SIZE 22 JEANS!!!!
  17. You don't really need to tell them anything. Make an appointment with a new doctor, and if you like that doctor, you can fill out a records request in their office to have your records sent over. If you have any future appointments scheduled, call and cancel them. If they ask why or if you want to reschedule, you can just say, "I'll call back."
  18. This. There have been other instances here of similar happenings. File an appeal. Use a phrase like, "their rep enticed you to obtain discretionary surgery by misquoting the benefits, and you relied on that benefit quote to guide your decision to obtain surgery." Ask them to pay it as quoted.
  19. I told myself no "cheating" at all until I was at goal weight. I am not going to sabotage what I've put myself through. I think your cravings will lessen as time passes.
  20. Mine also checks in the OR. I didn't have a drain, so I didn't have to drink anything special.

    Pizza

Maybe so. I didn't want to be the one to test it though.

    Pizza

My surgeon doesn't allow any type of bread, cracker, tortilla, muffin, bagel, etc., until six months out. He's had to go in too many times and retrieve the gooey ball that is formed, and blocks the sleeve. I'm six months now, and I no longer have any desire for those things. For me, it would be a slippery slope though. I think once I started, I wouldn't be able to stop. And that fear is what keeps me where I need to be. IMHO (and I know it won't work for everyone), I think you can break old cravings if you hold out longer. I'm at six months now, and I have no cravings whatsoever. food has become boring. And that's what I want - food to be boring, not exciting, not something I crave, nada.

    Surprise period

Yeah, I would ask a gynecologist, not a bariatrician. As far as restarting after surgery, I had my surgery in August last year (I was 51). Been through menopause already. Surprise! Had a period a short while after surgery, due to the hormone flood. Now, six months later, I finally get me some action, and I think the flood of hormones and oxytocin told my body that I should have another period. Jeebus!!!

    Anesthesiologist Bill

You can call your insurance company and explain that you were misled, and ask them to pay the claims as if they were in the network. If they decline, ask to speak to a supervisor. If they also decline, write a complaint letter to the insurance company asking for their help in resolving the situation.
