    sudden loss of restriction

May I suggest that you ask your doctor to fill you under flouro or find a fill doctor in your area that will fill you unfer flouro so you can actually see what is going on? I have had all my fills under flouro and I have to say that I think it doesn't even make sense to do a fill without it. It is like hit or miss. Under flouro, you get an accurate picture of your fill and restriction. I hope you get the situation resolved. Keep us posted.
  3. I have 10.25cc's in my 14cc APL band and I have really good restriction. I got my last fill almost 3 months ago and have been super restricted until about 2 weeks ago and now the restriction it is starting to come and go, just like it did before I went in for my last fill. I have a fill appointment on Aug 26th for another fill under flouro.

Tell Me What Am I Missing Here?

I also have a 14cc band and was banded in December of 07'. I had the same issues that you are referring to until my last fill 3 months ago bringing me to a total of 10.25cc's and PRESTO! I was at the perfect restriction level. My occassional binges of eating too much were immediatley brought to a screeching hault and I had no choice but to conform to the rules because if I didn't, I would be on my knees, worshipping the porcelain goddess in the bathroom. I would suggest that you find a doctor to fill you under flouro, that way you can rest assured that you have proper restriction.
  5. I am not sure if I am at my sweet spot or not but I have had the same fill of 10.25cc's in my 14cc band now for over 3 months and still have good restriction. It still varies from day to day and morning to evening. However, I physically cannot eat more than 6 oz. of solid food EVER without throwing it up, no matter what time of day it is.

    Tightness in the morning????

I am the same way. In the morning I am tighter, by mid afternoon I loosen up a bit. The first few weeks after a fill, I cannot eat until around 3 P.M.

Try #2 for 8 Months Out Stats

I posted this on the other thread but I will post it here too. Hello everyone, I had no idea this area even existed, lol. Glad I found it. Here are my stats 8 months out. Banded on December 13, 2007 by Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver, Co with a 14CC APL Large Lap Band. I have had a total of 6 fills and I am now at 10.25cc's. My restriction is fairly good, although it has been diminishing the past few weeks so I think it is time for another fill soon. I have one scheduled on Aug 26th. I have lost a total of 110 pounds so far and I still have 126 pounds left to lose but I feel GREAT! I have survived mostly on high Protein and low carbs. My diet consists of mainly baked fish, chicken, tuna salad, Protein shakes, scrambled eggs and lots of veggies. I rarely eat Pasta, bread, potatoes, sugar, starches, and other high-carb foods. When I do, my weight loss stalls so I stay away from them. I am hoping to be at goal by next December. Thanks for all the encouraging updates. Keep up the great work everyone.

You know you are a bandster when....

When you have become an expert on throwing up without making any noise.

You know you are a bandster when....

When you actually second the notion that "American's Eat Too Much," and begin to rant about it.

    No weight loss?

That is certainly a cause for concern. Have you been counting your calories and exercizing? You know they say, "calories in, calories out." When I first started with the Lap-Band, I thought I would instantly lose weight but very quickly realized that I was in complete control of my success. I started counting calories and realized that I was eating over 2500 calories or more a day on soft and liquid foods and that is why I was not losing. I changed that to 800-1000 calories and tracked everything I ate. I also added exercize and lost over 100 pounds in the last 8 months. Maybe you should have your thyroid checked if you have not already. The best to you.

Which foods can you not eat?

This is a loaded question, LOL. Sometimes I can eat just about anything and other times I can barely swalow Water. In the morning I am really tight so I usually drink Protein skakes. By mid afternoon, I can eat just about anything but I have to take tiny bites and chew very well. My restriction changes from day to day. I just made an appointment for a fill next week because I was able to eat too much the past few days and today I woke up and was back to major restriction again. I suppose everyone is different but I have been banded for about 8 months now and I have been able to eat almost everything. I do have to be careful with chicken, steak, and pork. Oh, and bread and Pasta. I can only eat infant size portions of those foods and sometimes still slim them back up.
  17. So like most bandsters, I have episodes of sliming. I have in 10.25cc's in my 14cc band so I am pretty tight right now. Well, yesterday I was at work and decided to have some Peanut Butter crackers. I put a piece of one in my mouth and started to chew. I swallowed it and everything seemed fine. It tasted soooo good. So, being the food addict that I am, I continued eating it but I got carried away and started eating a bit too fast....... All of a sudden, I got that familiar feeling in the back of my throat like, "the chewed up crackers are coming back up, accompanied with a large amount of stringy, clear slime." I was at work, sitting at my L-shaped desk which is conveniently attached to another L-shaped desk behind me. (There is a reason for the explanation coming soon.) I knew I could not make it to the bathroom so I grabbed my white styrofoam coffee cup and very discreetly put my head down on my desk and slimed the crackers up into the coffee cup that was half full of coffee. As I looked up, I saw my district manager coming up to my desk so I quickly put the coffee cup:coffee: behind me on the side of my desk and looked up at her. THE GROSS PART............ At that very moment, the guy at the desk behind me thought that was his coffee cup and grabbed it and started drinking out of it! He instantly spewed the coffee on his computer monitor.:puke: I turned around and said, "Oh my GOD! What is wrong?" he yelled, "I don't know, I just swallowed something really nasty in my coffee." :crying: I LOST IT! I could not stop laughing! You see, I hate this guy, he is a real jerk. He used to make fun of me all the time for being so overweight. Now that I am starting to lose weight, he is trying to flip the script on me and wants to "get to know me better." Well, I think he knows a part of me now that he does not want to know. My innards! He has no idea that I slimed in that coffee cup and I will go to my grave with the secret  but I somehow feel a little vendicated because KARMA is real and I believe yesterdays episode is proof positive. Just thought I would share this story with anyone who wants to read it.
  18. UPDATE...... He thinks it was one of his co-workers playing a trick on him and he is accusing the guy sitting across from him, who is another jerk! The speculations of what the "slimy" stuff is, are out of control! LMAO

Who has the labpand AP 14CC Band?

I have the 14cc band since Dec 13, 2007 and I love it. I get stuck sometimes, it just depends on what I am trying to eat, how big the bites are and how fast I eat. Generally, if I eat slow, take tiny bites, and chew extremely well, I can eat just about anything. I did not have issues eating anything until my last fill which brought me to a total of 10.25cc's, that was a "wake up and smell the coffee, you have restriction" awakening. I had no idea my body could produce that sort of slime. I felt like I was in a horror movie until I learned to slow down, take small bites and chew well.
  20. I am currently at 10.25cc's in my 14cc band. I had the last fill on June 1, 2008 and had the best restriction ever. I made an appointment for another fill on August 26th because I am starting to be able to eat more than I would like to. My doctor uses flouro so I always get a super tight fill and I have lost quite well because of it. For the first 3 weeks of this last fill, I was barely able to eat mushies but after about 4-5 weeks, the fill started to wear off and I can now eat almost 1/2 cup of food at a time and find myself hungry within a few hours and searching for junk food. I still pb when I drink within 10 minutes of eating now but for the first 3 weeks after my last fill, I was pb'ing Water i the morning, even when I sipped it. However, by late afternoon, I could comfortably eat close to 1/4 cup of food until the past few weeks, so I know it is time for a fill. The funny thing is, it really varies from day to day. One day I can eat almost anything and the next day I am sliming with my head is in the trash can every time I eat.

    So discouraged.... :(

The same thing happened to me. I lost a lot of weight quickly after my surgery but it stopped for about 3 weeks then all of a sudden, I started losing again. I have lost 110 pounds in 8 months. I was also able to eat a lot until my third fill, then all of a sudden, I could barely eat anything and I still can't. It takes time. You will get there soon. Great job on your loss so far, you are doing great. Be proud of yourself.

    What's going on?

I had the exact same issue you had and it was because the pills were blocking the liquid from going through the stoma. I learned very quickly to use a pill cutter and I cut all pills to the size of a birth control pill or smaller. Anything bigger will get stuck. With each fill, the stoma gets smaller and smaller so please be careful.
