Hi there, I’m also planning to do a revision later this year due to GERD. Do you still have no reflux after your revision? How are you doing?

Thank you all that have replied. Right now I’m debating between just living my life with GERD or doing the bypass. But what if the GERD gets worse. Right now I’ve had a sore throat for a week. This is my 3rd sore throat this year. I’m just really nervous.

My sleeve recovery was a breeze, too. RNY was a little harder. I definitely felt like my insides were rearranged the first couple of weeks. Now now so much.
My understanding, from my surgeon, is that it's the sleeve itself that makes the GERD so bad. It's a skinny tube with a valve at the bottom, and if the valve is shut, the only place for the reflux to go is up. RNY gives you a hose, open at both ends. The vagus nerve is also severed during RNY and has something to do with acid secretion. No acid+open-ended hose = no GERD. At least, that's the way it was explained to me.

Hello all- I’m interested in hearing people’s stories as they went from sleeve to bypass due to Gerd. I’m extremely nervous restarting this process. I was sleeved 5 years ago and have been suffering with GERD ever since, which I feel has gotten worse. In 2018, I did the linx surgery, which is a metal band around the esophagus to stop GERD- it didn’t work so I got it removed later that year. Now here I am in 2020 thinking about the switch to bypass. Obviously my fear is this will now be my 4th surgery in 6 years. In addition, will this really work.

I haven't had revision, but I've been hanging out on bariatric sites for the last 5-7 years. It does seem to work for most people, but of course you'll find outliers. Sorry to hear about the above responder's complications, although fortunately, as with virgin surgeries, those seem to be pretty rare.

Band07 I just took a look at one of your old post. It states that you are 175 but want to be 150 and you are considering a revision. No judgment, I'm just curious, are you considering surgery to lose 15pds? I didn't know at such a low BMI a revision could be done. Again, just asking.
Your old post also states that you had the sleeve in 2013 and you have since gained 10 pounds. And that you have never really felt a restriction and can eat whatever you want... Is it possible that your surgery wasn't performed well or there is a decrease in its function because you are a revision from band?

I didn't know that! My bariatric nurse told me that I should probably switch to H2 receptors like Zantac. As of today I am switching.

I called my nurse at the Bariatric program and she told me the same thing. She said if I'm concerned take H2 receptor like Zantac. As of today I will be switching.

So today in the NYT there is an article stating PPIs such as Nexium are related to kidney diseases. What are your thoughts?
I developed acid reflux after my sleeve and have been taking Nexium once or twice a day for a year now. I'm very concerned, as I only have one kidney.

9 months out i can eat small portions of anything I want without problem. Obviously I don't eat whatever I want on a daily basis because it would go against why I had the surgery. On a day like thanksgiving I could have a small amount of everything if I choose to but I'm sticking with a small portion of turkey and veggies.

Thank you! I haven't found a lot of people who have gotten it done so I'm so interested to hear from people. It seems tummy tucks and arm skin removal are the popular ones. By next summer I 100% want the sagging skin in my inner thighs gone!
I'll deal with the stomach and arms through weight training and possibly surgery again but the focus are these thighs!

Hi all, I have lost over 100pds and the skin in my inner things hang. I want it gone! I wanted to know has anyone gotten the thigh lift? And what was the recovery/scar like afterwards?

The problem is not that the person veered off course. We will all do that. The problem was the person consumed a dangerous amount of alcohol/food days after their surgery, which could have seriously danger that person's recovery, health, and life. Although im glad that person is fine, I do not want anyone reading this to think that person's actions are acceptable. Some people read this form to see how far they can push their surgery. Someone reading that this person consumed xyz and was fine means they can do the same and be fine.
Again what is done is done but I felt the need to respond out of concern to the future sleevers.

How do some people get approval for surgery is beyond.
I hope the poster finds the help she needs. When her hair and teeth fall out due to not providing her body nutrients maybe that will be the aha moment she needs. But I hope it doesn't come to that.

So I'm 6 months post op and have lost 85 pounds. I'm finally fitting into medium shirts(gulp!) and inching closer to 36 waist jeans from a size 44. Today I have taken out all the clothes I can no longer fit and its a huge amount of clothes. Maybe 2-3 large garbage bags worth.
What are some of your rules around clothing? With 30 more pounds to lose until I reach goal, I really hope to never ever wear these clothes again. But I'm very much aware that regain may happen in the future but I also don't believe in saving clothes waiting on a day that may or may not happen. Idk what to do!
