What? I wasn't being a smart ass. I was just pointing out that the sleeve doesn't fail...the person attached to it does. If we work our plan and stick with the basics 90% of the time.... IE Protein first, minimal starchy carbs and processed crap and sugar, drinking plenty of Water and moving more, it will work for us.
Too many people rely too much on the tool, as opposed to actually working the tool. Unfortunately, it won't always be as effective as it is in the beginning. That's when our good eating and excersise habits that we've (hopefully) cemented early on will really help get to goal and keep it off.

I was sleeved on Nov 29th 2014. I was 274 pounds and now 241 pounds. The weight is coming off slowly but surely but I can see inches coming off me so I do not care what the scale says. It just has to catch up to me. LOL

I am apparently very out of shape. I am trying to work my arms and I am having trouble with the lightest weights I can get my hands on. I do go on the treadmill for 30 minutes and then hit the weights--take it slow and build up week by week. I try to get to the gym 5 days a week.

I do not miss the fat BUT one thing that I am finding is that I don't care for some of the "attention" I get from the guys. It's been a long time and at first it's flattering but after a while it's tiring.

I have never done shakes, not since my surgery and not that I haven't tried, I've tasted many and never gotten past the first sip or two, I just can't stand them, and I've tried so many. I jumped right into regular food ten days after surgery, and had no problem (prime rib to be exact, with a little mashed potato and two brussel sprouts). You have to do what is right for you, I still to this day do not do Protein shakes or shakes of any kind, I wish I could, but I throw them right back up, I hate the taste of them all, and I've tried sooooo many different ones, I finally gave up. Each time someone would say "try this one, it's great" I'd go out buy it and totally GAG on it and that was it. I've tried pre mixed, powder, tasteless ones, everything.. So good luck, but really don't sweat it, you can still do this, where there's a will there's away! It is better if you can do the shakes, but don't let it stop you if you can't.

Sweetiepants reacted to Bob B in One Month Down...all the rest to go!
Friday I went in for my one month follow-up with the surgeon following my sleeve gastrectomy on Dec 16th.
I'm down 35 pounds, blood pressure is great. Scars are there, but hardly anything too speak of.
Other than the (sometimes TERRIBLE) Constipation that I have experienced intermittently, my recovery has been fantastic. I'm feeling great, and not being tempted by the food around me.
I've been to a few group support meetings, but none of them really "fit" me. I need to find one in Los Angeles with similarly aged men. The groups I visited were primarily women much older than me, and while the vibe was all positive, I could tell that their needs as "recoverers" were different than mine.
Doc says all systems are go for me, and today I'm going to go to the gym for the first time in almost 2 years. Treadmill and light weights are all I can handle right now, but hoping to accelerate what has already been RAPID loss.
While eating has always been an issue for me, my biggest fear about my new regimen was quitting drinking. For almost 20 years I have been an every day drinker. Not always a ton, but always something. And while I miss the ritual of drinking nightly, I haven't had any physical withdrawals or cravings for alcohol since I stopped drinking during surgery prep. I'm certain that the weight loss so far has been greatly improved by losing all those empty, nightly calories.
Please wish me continued good luck, as I will for you on your journey.

My coworkers - who knew why I had taken off - said something as soon as I came back - maybe 15 lbs after surgery, "wow - I can already see it in your face". A friend told me - "Your face and your boobs look smaller"... she's a really good friend. Someone else said, "You must lose your belly first - I can really tell a difference".
My husband grabbed me about 5 lbs ago and said, "I can tell you've lost a lot of weight". Silly man - just cause he could put his arms all the way around me. My children said something about the same time... also because they can now put their arms all the way around me.
I notice more now, when I pass a mirror - I've pretty much lost my double chin, my good bras fit again, my wedding ring fits, my biggest pair of jeans now fit, I've gone down 2 sizes in my scrubs.
My feet and knees notice every day - they don't hurt, and I noticed when I was climbing the stairs yesterday my knees didn't sound like a bowl of rice krispies.
