  1. I'm doing a lot of prep for my sleeving on Jan 26, but one of the things I'm most excited about is being able to define my style in a new way when I do lose the weight. A lot of options will be open to me since I'll be able to choose more on what I really like rather than what just fits. So, to motivate myself, I'm making a list of things I can't wait to wear. For example: - my grandfather was an avid cruiser who spent a lot of time in Asia. This resulted in a number of custom-made suits and tuxedos in every imaginable color and style. My favorites are an old-school tuxedo, an old Harris tweed, and a red linen tuxedo jacket. I'm going to rock the eff out of both when I fit into them. - I found my old Brownie and Girl Scout sashes. I want to make a dress using the sashes as ornament (they don't fit right now). - Every outfit worn in the film Troop Beverly Hills. What about you??

I'm done telling folks. They don't get it

I don't tell people unless it comes up or it interferes with scheduling and the like. I'm lucky to have a super supportive family and group of friends, and a friend who has gone through sleeving recently. The coolest was when I told one of my best friends (who is almost through med school with a specialty in surgery) and she had a completely normal - almost bored - reaction to it. She understood that it was the right thing for me and that it's normal if I want to change my life. It was the best.

    Calling January Sleever????

I'm getting sleeved on Jan 26! Excited and terrified and trying to think of protein shake recipes for pre-op. :-)
  9. I'm 25. I'm going to get the surgery. I'm deciding between sleeve and Lap Band, but I'm leaning towards sleeve. I'm going to do it. I need to. But food is such a huge part of my life. It used to be a crutch for me, and now my relationship with it is a lot healthier. But... I still love it so much. And what about exercise? Right now I work out 5 times a week, doing things from cardio to weight training to yoga to boxing. I bench press 140 pounds, which is pretty good for a woman. I'm told that my musculature won't change after the surgery. But will my body make it harder for me to lose weight? I'm terrified of the staples causing a leak and getting an infection. I'm scared of dying during surgery even though I had my gallbladder removed before and apparently that's more dangerous. I'm scared I won't be able to go out with my friends anymore. I'm scared that I won't even make it through the pre-op diet. Is it hard to separate your weight from who you really are? I'm a comedian, and I'm genuinely worried that I won't be funny anymore. What if I no longer stand out? I currently weigh 270 and I'd love to weigh 200. Any less, I can't imagine. I can't even fathom. What if my body just isn't designed to be smaller than it is? What about sushi? Does anyone have any insight about sushi? This is a scattered series of thoughts, and for that I apologize. Seriously, any advice about sushi would be greatly appreciated.
