  1. On the first day of pre-op my diet gave to me... A promise of a new life sleeved! On the second day of pre-op my diet gave to me... Two massive headaches, and A promise of a new life sleeved! On the third day of pre-op my diet gave to me... Three bouts of nausea, Two massive headaches, and A promise of a new life sleeved! ...more to come as the diet continues. Still motivated, just wanted to let off a little steam. :-) If you have any to add, feel free!

    Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome & Sleeve

PCOS here, too! I've lost like 10 lbs this week (pre-op diet) which I'm assuming was mostly water weight, but I'm happy people have positive longer-term results with the sleeve.

    January 26, 2015

Just finished my 6th day of the diet and feeling surprisingly good. Soup is really helping. Today I'm under 600 cals and I'm not hungry, but I am sleeping a lot more. Down 10 lbs!

    Calling January Sleever????

Down 10 pounds in 5 days on my pre-op diet, which is both exciting and worrisome. My anxiety is too strong to just be happy with it! :-/

    Who has had an EGD?

Just had mine today! The doctor said everything "looked good" - I always feel weird when they say that right after.

Who is scared to give up food?

The way I see it, if I do eat something that's not ideal after surgery, it also isn't that much food anyway. When I eat poorly now, it's SO MUCH, you know? But post-surgery, it'll just be a little bump in the road rather than complete derailment. It's a real weight off my shoulders both physically and mentally.
  15. Oh man that elevator thing is the TRUTH! I always try to get on first so no one will know...

    Who has had an EGD?

I have to get one on Monday, to check for H Pylori.

Who is scared to give up food?

I'm also heading to Japan two months after surgery, which is kind of nerve-wracking because they sometimes serve large set meals (and omakase sushi!), BUT my brother is a walking garbage disposal and he offered to eat most of my food if I get overly tempted. How kind of him! :-)

Who is scared to give up food?

I eat out at restaurants a lot, and something I've started doing is journaling the names of my favorite restaurants and then writing down things I could eat there. It made me realize that not a ton will change in terms of choices, just being a little healthier and eating a lot less. One thing I will definitely miss is fancy restaurant tasting menus (I live in NYC, there are a lot of those), but I eat those so rarely that it's like, I'd give those up. :-)

    Struggling with the Preop diet

My doctor literally just said "protein shakes during the day and crunchy vegetables at night." No other guidelines really. Plus I asked if I could have a little grilled chicken at night and she gave in preeeeetty quick.

    Struggling with the Preop diet

My two weeks start on the 12th and my plan is to avoid doing anything for four days - I'm going to be a crabby monster, I just know it. :-)

    Bai 5?

Does anyone know if Bai 5 is OK to drink post surgery? Like, with protein in it? It's only 10 cals/bottle and no sugar, but there's a little bit of caffeine. I just really like it. Thoughts? (Attached is a photo of the bottle side.)
  22. I got screwed by insurance because I lost like 5 pounds when I shouldn't have. It's bonkers, right? You do what you're "supposed" to and you get punished for it and you have to start over. Gotta maintain that 40 or else. :-/

    Bai 5?

It's a very yummy low cal beverage! It claims to help with free radicals and such too, and comes in some good flavors (I really like peach and mango).
  24. I'm doing a lot of prep for my sleeving on Jan 26, but one of the things I'm most excited about is being able to define my style in a new way when I do lose the weight. A lot of options will be open to me since I'll be able to choose more on what I really like rather than what just fits. So, to motivate myself, I'm making a list of things I can't wait to wear. For example: - my grandfather was an avid cruiser who spent a lot of time in Asia. This resulted in a number of custom-made suits and tuxedos in every imaginable color and style. My favorites are an old-school tuxedo, an old Harris tweed, and a red linen tuxedo jacket. I'm going to rock the eff out of both when I fit into them. - I found my old Brownie and Girl Scout sashes. I want to make a dress using the sashes as ornament (they don't fit right now). - Every outfit worn in the film Troop Beverly Hills. What about you??
