    Protein drink ideas

I'm just sticking with muscle milk light premades, but I got some sugar free raspberry Torani syrup and it adds a nice change!

    Sushi?

I LOVE sushi, and one of my current anticipations is that I'll be able to eat sashimi for a while and then I'll try a sushi roll later on. I'm going to Japan in a few months so fingers crossed that all will be well!

    Gas pain and nausea

I was sleeved on Thursday and still have a little gas pain in my shoulder. I've been using Gas-X Strips, which also help with the gas-related nausea. If the doctor gave you Zofran or any other anti-nausea that should be helpful too. I never thought farting would be so important! :-)

    No appetite post op

I was sleeved the same day and I'm also not hungry or thirsty. I just keep sipping stuff when I'm not sleeping. :-)

What can't be pureed during puree stage?

My surgeon's guidelines are full of mixed messages. They said no red meat for a while but then also said I could blend meatballs during purees. It all depends on the surgeon.
  7. All hooked up to the IV and everything! VERY thirsty but doing all right. See you on the other side!

    Surgery in 2 hours!

The pain is manageable but I'm definitely nauseous from the gas. It won't leave!

Huge Winter Storm Predicted Same Day As Sx

They said I MAY be rescheduled for Thursday but they never confirmed before everyone went home. I guess we'll see?

Huge Winter Storm Predicted Same Day As Sx

My surgery has officially been postponed by the storm. I am very emotional. The surgeon called and said we had to reschedule (at the earliest) Friday. Probably next week. She said I could be less strict on the pre-op until then because I'd done so well. I'd rather just be sleeved.

Huge Winter Storm Predicted Same Day As Sx

Same boat here! My surgery is supposed to be tomorrow but I'm worried that the storm will postpone it.
  16. I'm having my surgery on Monday! Hooray! My dad suggested I take an Epsom salt bath tomorrow (Sunday) because it'll relax me and it feels nice. (I'm not doing it to lose more weight or anything, I already lost 15 lbs on the preop diet so I'm all good there.) Do you think this is OK? Sorry for the stupid question, just don't want to eff something up because of a silly bath.

    encouragement needed

I'm Jan 26 and also pretty nervous, but the way I see it, it's now or in a few years when stuff has gotten worse. This is a super hard decision, of course, but it's going to be OK.

    food rant

Jeff Garlin's book My Footprint really helped me with realizing how I felt about food. He's a really famous comedian and writer who has struggled with his weight for a long time.
  19. During my pre-op diet I have found myself weirdly emotional about random stuff, and crying a lot more than normal. For example: I went to go see the movie Paddington the other day and cried six separate times. Now, part of this is because it's actually a brilliant film with an inherently sad story about a loveable homeless bear. But SIX times seems a bit excessive. I read somewhere that it's because of hormones stored in the now-released fat cells, I think? Has anyone else had this problem? Also, Paddington really is great.

    Protein Shake

I rocked the chocolate muscle milk light, and hopefully will do so after surgery as well. I was recommended the gnc lean shake but it has a plasticky aftertaste.

    Fell off the wagon.......

Also @@Diane Grimm, you lost a step but you gained so many good steps on your pre-op diet! You are doing amazingly. One mistake isn't gonna destroy you. I'm incredibly proud of what you accomplished, and you should be too!

Weak, nauseated, a little loopy in the head.

    Fell off the wagon.......

I'm on day 10 of 14 and I hit a good stride but now I feel like crap. I haven't cheated (which, if you know me, is INSANE, I have no will power) but I'm kinda scared about how I feel today. Anyone else have this problem?
  24. Something I made before my surgery that I'm excited to have post-surgery: boiled butter beans (otherwise known as mature Lima beans), with a little bit of salt, olive oil, and fresh lime zest. Mash those beauties up and you've got yourself a treat!
  25. I'm having my surgery next week and traveling to Japan exactly two months after, which my doctor said was fine. I think it depends on what your doctor recommends, but I wanted to definitely be able to eat some solids in Japan, you know?
