  1. I had lovenox shots only in the hospital. I did end up back in the hospital 2 weeks post-op wirh blood clots. So I think taking them after you get home is a good idea. I am almost 6 months outing had to get my gallbladder out last month. I had to be on the lovenox shots for a month after surgery. It does give you some bruises but it doesn't hurt as bad if you let the alcohol dry before you give yourself the shot

  2. I am Triwest. I had to have 3 documented doctor apts for weight lose. I am in Tricare Prime and the nutritionist visits are covered. I had my sleeve done May 24, 2016. Two weeks post op I ended up with a blood clot in my portal vein, intestine and two in my lungs. Luckily for me I do not have to be seen on base because they wouldn't have caught the clots. Anyway just last week I had to have my gallbladder out because of so much weight lose. I am will be 5 months out Monday and will be 70lbs down! Surgery even with the complications has been the best thing I have ever done. All of my care has been done at the local hospital here in Boise ID and I have yet to pay even a dollar. Good luck to all of you with your journey!

  3. It's a good thing they are checking for you. I am sure you will do just fine and the fix will be uneventful. When I went to the ER last week for my gallbladder I felt so defeated. Four months post-op and this is second hospital stay! Although losing 65lbs it is worth it. Hopefully getting Thai gallbladder out I will be drama free for a while????

  4. I am feeling very good! I am down 45lbs since surgery...I was really hoping to hit the 50 mark at three months but don't think that is going to happen. I defiantly have a lot more energy. We went hiking on the Oregon Trail today and I rocked the 180 degree incline. People at work are noticing my weight lose. I didn't tell everyone but I have had several compliments on looking healthy lol. They k ow something is different about me but can't put their finger on it. Pup that is awesome that you are already in a size 7! I don't know if I will ever get that far down! I am down to a size 18 from 22 so not where I want to be but defiantly a start!

  5. I am in TriWest...Boise, ID. You will need to do a 3 month supervised diet. I had those in my medical record over the past year. I did have to do a few other tests but those were doctor requirements. I just had a friend go to her first apt July 7th and already had approval through TriWest. She will have surgery in August...she already had 3 months of supervised dieting in her records.

  6. I went to see the hemotologist yesterday. It was a bit scary because it was a tumor institute so everyone treated me like I had cancer. Anyway, the doctor was nice but was obsessed with the survey I had. He wanted to know how much weight I had lost since surgery. I told him 31lbs. He acted like that wasn't much and the proceeded to ask me how much more weight I planned to lose? I was like DUDE are you serious! 31lbs in 7 weeks isn't good enough!!! He then proceeded to tell me that I should be exercising 7 days a week and taking the dog on long walks doesn't count! Why do people become so obsessed with this surgery they know nothing about. Not even my bariatric surgeon asks me about my weight. My nutritionist even told me last week they don't like telling people a goal weight because every person is different and it all depends on how much you put into your new life style. Anyway, sorry for the rant but it is so frustrating! He is my blood doctor not my bariatric Doctor!

  7. I to was a week away from having surgery at a military hospital. A week before surgery it was canceled due to a PCS. I am so happy I did not get the surgery there! I was able to get a wonderful surgeon at a center of excellence. My surgeon has done so many more surgeries than the one on base. I didn't have to have a drain tub...no two week liquid diet. I also had blood clots two weeks after surgery. I feel like if I had gone on base for treatment I would be dead. My clots did not present normally and the base probably would have sent me home with Motrin. While I have had good care on base I feel like I have had awesome care from my surgeon and staff at the hospital. Plus I didn't have to share a hospital room like I would have on base. I live an hour away from base so I also see a family doctor where I live....best health care I have had in 17 years of marriage to my husband.
