    DENIED

My insurance wouldn't approve the lap band removal but did approve the sleeve. So I paid $600 for the band removal and insurance covered the rest. I'm so sorry you were denied. I still had to qualify, 40 bmi for last 5 years and all the other requirements.

Band to Sleeve patients lose less?

I am not getting much protein yet, still struggling with nausea. No idea on carbs. I've had a few small portions of curry and khao soi so not much.

Thinking of band removal and getting sleeve...need advice

I had the conversion last week! My band wasn't as successful as yours but it did what it should, I lost about 55% of my excess weight. I never removed the fluid with my pregnancy so I lost 20 lbs during it but I was afraid of gaining. I can already tell the sleeve is going to be wonderful. Pain was not horrid (nausea was my biggest issue) and I am still trying to get water to the right in take level. I am looking forward to life! I spent the week adding recipes to pintrest of things I could never cook with my band! No more running to the bath room after one wrong bite!!!
  5. I just switched from a band to a sleeve and in just a week I can tell life will be night and day different! My band was at restriction and had no erosion or slippage but I still struggled to eat healthy or swallow pills. Life seems like it will be so much better! I swallowed a giant pill today and it didn't cause me to throw up! Amazing!!!!

    Post Op Pain

I had a slipped disc last year and this was a fraction of the pain of that, if that helps you imagine it.

    Post Op Pain

It wasn't bad. I had it done last week and I had a lot of nausea but the pain wasn't as bad as the band I don't think! Hang in there, my hardest part is that my allergies kicked in on day 4 and I am having trouble with a post nasal drip. If the allergies were gone it would be great one week out. I slept on my belly last night! I could get up fine after surgery, some discomfort where they removed the stomach (from a tiny hole) and some discomfort from the hernia repair but worth it. Lost 20lbs this week.

Band to Sleeve patients lose less?

I had my band out last week and converted to a sleeve and lost 20 lbs so far. My doctor said I would lose slower because the initial weight had already been taken off by the band. He said I would lose like I did 5 to 6 months after I got the band. I really just wanted to he able to make healthy food choices and the band wouldn't allow me to eat protein. I think a lot of band patients may struggle with a sleeve because we are used to eating slider foods. A lot of what we ate with the band is not what we should eat now! I have to say I was so excited to swallow a large pill today and not worry about throwing it up!

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon

Dr. Scott Stowers at Wise Regional Hospital in Decatur, Tx did my band 6 years ago and just did my revision to a sleeve. He and his staff are fantastic and the hospital has always been top notch! My band had no issues and no scar tissue. Impressive!

    I HAD MY SURGERY

I had my band removed and converted to a sleeve on Tuesday. Today was the hardest day yet because of gas pains in my gut and in my shoulder. I couldn't get control of my nausea in the hospital so I had to stay an extra day... My husband had a sleeve last week and he was doing fine by this time. You just never know. I can barely keep my water down but I know it will get better...my band was bad too and it took a while to feel better!
  11. I have lived with a lap band for 7 years or so and just had it changed for a sleeve. My surgeon is very pro sleeve and was glad to revise my surgery. I picked a vsg because you can make healthy food decisions and the malabsorption isn't as big a deal as an RNY. My doctor said the sleeve is the best tool he's ever had in wls. Most if the staff in his office have had it and they are all thrilled.

sleevers for the week of nov 24th?

I had a band to sleeve revision on Tuesday, just released from hospital today. They couldn't get my nausea under control. (I'm allergic to phenegrin) I have gas pains in my right shoulder...or maybe it is from positioning. My husband was sleeved last week and he is doing great.I just want the pain to stop.

    Band Removed Today!

I was sleeved on Tuesday, just got out of the hospital today. I feel like a nausea truck ran me over. My husband had a sleeve last week and he has already lost 18 lbs...I think I hurt so much worse because of the band removal. Glad it is out but I had the band for so long I feel like I have to learn all over again. Hope everyone is doing well. I know this will be worth it, just hard to heal for me. My band was in good shape my Dr. Said. Not much scar tissue and no sign of erosion. I lost 70 lbs with the band, hopefully I will loose that much again.
