    Hair Loss

I noticed my hair becoming dry and skin also dry. I know i need to get more Protein. Make sure you are getting enough protein. Also, my physician said it will get thinner but, it is only temporary. It does grow back and get fuller. I really am not worried about it. I am thinking of ways to get more protein in. I tried the whey Protein drinks and tasted horrible to me. Cottage cheese, chicken, turkey, plain yogurt (flavored with grape juice ) . I am focusing more on getting the protein in. The hair consists of mostly protein and that is what is healthy for the hair. p.s. if you are really concerned you could also, try minoxidal with your physicians approval.

What's with all the "diet" food?

I have to drink lactaid too. I flavor it with a little Hershey's dark chocolate syrup. Tastes pretty good. My Aunt just told me to use organic milk. Next time i go shopping i will look for lactaid free organic milk. These liquids go down good and taste good: Chocolate flavored lactaid free milk, warm Water flavored with ice tea, warm water flavored with any kind of juice. coffee or any Hot drinks, hot choc, tea go down good. Cold liquids don't go down so well. Especially cold water, Yikes !!!

What's with all the "diet" food?

("Since starting this program and especially post surgery, I'm told to eat a TON of dairy (which I don't tolerate well), and lots of chemical laden sugar free fake foods like the Protein shakes and jellos and puddings and Protein Bars, etc." I totally agree with you and I was wondering about all the diet sugar free fake foods too. . . . . First of all, we all know now that using the diet sugars makes one crave for more sugar. Also, who wants to put these chemicals in one's body ? When I had surgery(breast reduction) i was told to refrain from diet food chemicals. The reason being that with surgery /anesthia you are receiving lots of chemicals so the idea was not to put more chemicals in your body !!! Also, the sugar free stuff usually has higher sodium in them. like the sugar free puddings. Plus , some sugar free stuff produces laxative effect. Also, since i am eating only a couple tablespoons at each meal why would I want to limit my calories with sugar free stuff. A calorie equals energy and if i eat next to nothing already i will have zero energy to do all the exercise the surgeon/staff wants you to do.

    Question in regards to recovery.

i tried scrambled eggs also at two weeks and didn't tolerate them well. at four weeks i tried them again and i was able to eat approx. half a cup with no problem. p.s. at two weeks i only had two tablespoon of the scrambled eggs and couldn't tolerate them. burping, oh yes i burp all the time. . . . mostly though when you eat too much even a couple tablespoons too much i tend to burp more. The foods listed below is what i tolerated at two weeks : 1. applesauce. 2. yogurt 3. banana 4. cottage cheese 5. apple juice 6. Jello 7. pudding 8. mashed potatoes

    Protein bars!

i like greek yogurt but, recently switched to plain yogurt. regular, low fat and fat free have a ton of sugar and carbs in it. . . . . . so i made the switch to plain yogurt. maybe, i will add some banana to the plain yogurt or some other fruit. i had bloodwork done for my 2nd post op apt. scheduled for january 14. i am waiting for the results . . . then i will discuss results with bariatric surgeon on jan14.

    Bread

i had bread around the third week. i only had half a slice because, bread does make one full rather quickly. after doing research i found that if you toast the bread it is more tolerable. pre op i ate several slices of bread per day. i ate approx. ten slices of bread per day. since i cannot eat much of it anymore i am not worried about it. half a slice to one slice is okay with me. i did have the other day one slice of pumpernicel bread with tuna salad on the bread. (i didn't toast it) i tolerated it well.

2 weeks to go, and I am really nervous...

pre op diet is fine . but, if physician didn't put you on a pre op diet don't worry about it. you can always ask your doc if you need to be on pre op diet. requirements for me was two days before surgery all clear liquid. sure, we all want to lose weight pre op but, i figured i am never going to be able to eat like i did previously, so i kind of splurged a little bit. but, afterwards now i don't feel deprived now, i really don't. because, i had my fill pre op. if i didn't have my fill pre op i probably would feel somewhat deprived. just my thoughts. . . . .

2 weeks to go, and I am really nervous...

hi, i am 34 days post op sleeve surgery. so almost five weeks post op. I am eating toast, crackers in my Soup (veg. beef, ) . breakfast: yesterday i ate couple bites of bananna, Water lunch: yogurt, small slim jim, piece of candy, 2tbs tabouli (parsley, tomatos), one cup of broccoli and cheese soup. dinner: piece of candy. 2 tbs of hamburger, 2 tbsp of mashed potatoes, some stringbeans. felt like i overate. didn't feel too great. but, these foods do go down easy. 2 potato chips. ice tea flavored water. note: broc and cheese soup didn't agree too much with my stomach. toast was fine. crackers fine, slim jim fine, tabouli was okay. bananna was fine, water at night and couple pieces of hard candy at nite for dry mouth.
  12. why does sipping Water makeme sick. i also tried sipping regular ice tea with sugar and this went down easier. please let me know your experiences. thank you. also, bringing up thick phlem.
