    Hot Flashes and Nausea

I know what you're talking about! I will feel nauseous and fatigued randomly in the day I also have been eating healthy, so this does not follow eating bad/sugary food.
  2. I also can eat pretty much anything I want. I have to consciously remind to ask myself, "are you full?" It's something you have to pay close attention to. You have the full feeling, you're just not tuning into it
  3. I had my surgery 3/31. I was on liquids for the first week. At my follow up my doc said I can proceed to soft foods, and by next week I can try normal foods. This is shorter than the plan that the doctor's office instituted for me. (By about 10 days). I've been trying new foods and have had no issues. I've read so many bad things about rupturing the stomach, etc. that i'm freaking out! How can plans be so different from person to person?

When were YOU allowed to go solid?

I was SHOCKED when he said normal food in 3/4 days. I am nervous because I have admittedly been giving myself a little leeway in trying new foods as long as I chew them very well. I had rotissary chicken (so it was very soft) and I chewed super well. No problems. It just feels too good to be true! I feel horrible saying, "I can start eating any new food I want in a few days" when some people are still on FULL LIQUIDS. That's what I mean-- it's day 8 and you're telling me I can eat pretty much whatever I want, as long as I chew well, by day 12? It feels wrong! LOL - amazing, but wrong!
  5. I think the weirdest thing is when I roll on my side and feel things move! Gross! Haha. Walk around with my left upper side feeling out of place and extended. Normal right?
  6. I'm sure this is normal but I'd love tp hear I'm not the only one. On my upper left side it feels really weird. No pain, just like the organs aren't where they are supposed to be. Obviously I know they move things around a lot, I just didn't know if anyone felt the same. Otherwise I'm doing ok, tolerating all foods and drinks at my stage and I pooped! Yippee!

    Frustration

Quarter, I also had my surgery 3/31 and I'm stressed too! I ALSO had to stay an extra night in the hospital! It sounds like we are going through the same things and could possibly motivate/keep each other accountable. Do you want to talk over the phone/text? I could really use a pal Pm me!
  8. The texture/seeds might be irritating to our sensitive tummies.

Anyone looking for a buddy? Just had my surgery 3/31.

    Looking for a friend!

Hi emery, I just had my surgery 3/31 and am looking for the same thing! Would you like to talk/text? Please pm me.
  11. Work knows I am going to be out, and I know i'm going to have a bunch of questions asked. I'm also a volunteer firefighter, so I will be out of those duties for about two months (it's very, very strenuous on the body). What surgery would put me out of commission for two months?
  12. I have chewable Vit C, and Calcium, and a sublingual B-12, but my daily Vitamins (2) are not. Is that a problem?
  13. Excuse my language, but I am SO FRIGGIN' CONFUSED. My surgeon reccomends Bariatric fusion or Optisource (each 4/daily) plus Iron, or Calcium/Vit D. Honestly- this whole thing is baffling to me. I'm reading so many different things about what Vitamins to take, what you shouldn't take-- some people say BA are actually not so great for you... Can they make up their minds? I want an affordable Vitamin that will allow me to take as few as possible. Not to mention- whey powder! My surgeon says to take Isolate, is that absolutely necessary? It's a bit expensive Please give me some realistic solutions!

    Psychiatrist against the surgery

Good for you. That makes you a savvy consumer, do not feel guilty! Never just trust one opinion on anything, especially medical!

    Psychiatrist against the surgery

Please also remember that he is NOT a bariatric doctor. There is a reason insurance companies cover these surgeries, it is not as cut and dry as he is making it out to be. And comparing you to other fat women is hardly a healthy standard. If you are eligible for the surgery via requirements then you are eligible for all of the health risks associated with it, that in itself is at least reason enough to speak to a bariatric counselor who can give you an unbiased opinion.

    Multivitamins

It read several places that the flinstones vitamins are NOT sufficient for pat bariatric nutrient maintenance.

    Pre-op depression - normal?

You are going through so much right now! Take the space you need but really try to establish trust with the people you've shared with. You will need their support so maybe the first step is talking to them now about how you feel. It's totally normal up be sad or scared, this is a big deal. But that is exactly why you need to have these people on your side!

    Post-op reactions?

Do you actually have redness on your stomach? Are the incision sites angry looking? Is the itching superficial or below the skin? You could be allergic to something they used.

    Weight loss frustration

You should be HAPPY! The weight IS going to come off, but it's better that your body is given a chance for it to catch up... Less sagging. This is a good thing.
  23. I know it may not be a HUGE deal- but in 19 days I will have my first appointment necessary for surgery. There, we will discuss what my best option is and ... THIS IS THE BEST PART! Because I have been a good girl and really proactive, I have already: -taken the workshops -completed packet -blood work done -psych eval done -sent letter of recommendation from physician -every other little damn thing! Sooo, ideally- I will meet with everyone 2/5, and because they don't have to wait on anything, send off my information to my insurance co for pre-auth! That means by this time next month, I could be told YES-- even better, scheduled ASAP. Ahhh I'm so excited, but so so nervous all of this work will mean nothing if my insurance says no. I'll keep y'all updated!
  24. I am floored. My insurance called me today and gave me the good news. I'm shocked- I have only 6 months left on this plan (AKA my 26th BDAY) and I really was convinced they'd find ANY reason to decline me or delay me. I'm just.... so blown away! Hoping for an early April appointment, would love to get some lbs off for summer! I have a few events in the future: May 23rd- my boyfriend's mom's wedding! How much can I hope to lose in ~1.5 months? June 30th - my boyfriend's friend's wedding? 2.5 months!? August 13-15 Miami for MY birthday! That's about 4-5 months. Where were YOU at those points?
  25. Don't have a firm surgery date, but my auth came in today! HURRAY!! They are expecting a surgery date of early-mid April. I wanted to know that with this time, what are some things that I should be doing to prepare emotionally? Is it bad I'm having a "last meal" before starting the liver reduction diet? That's normal and healthy right? What are some things YOU have/would have done with a month or two left before surgery?
