You should stop constantly weighing yourself! That will help eliminate some of that stress! Just follow your plan and let your body do its job. Our bodies aren't on the same "weight loss schedule" that we want them to be on all the time. You are doing very good and you will get there in your own sweet time. Don't stress!

I use my vanilla pre-made (premier protein) shakes as a substitute for cream/milk and sugar in my Decaf coffee. I get about 15-20g of Protein per coffee and I usually have 2 or 3 decaf coffees a day. Ps and it tastes SO, SO GOOD!!

i have a Protein shake every single morning and i LOVE them. i use PURE Protein brand whey protein. 25 g protein per scoop and only 2 g sugar. the chocolate tastes delicious. i purchase mine from my local grocer but Amazon carries it. only 20.00 for a 2 pound tub, which will last me a bit under a month. so happy i found it...i give it 5 stars because when blended with ice it tastes JUST like a milkshake. today i had more than the usual because it was so tasty.
you can also blend them with a touch of Torani, or chocolate Syrup. sugar free is recommended, but i buy everything regular and just halve or quarter the serving sizes! right now i add hazelnut torani syrup for a DELICIOUS treat. i have NO issues with taking my protein every day.

Nope, not forever. Just in the beginning stages when your tummy is still healing. After you are healed the longer chewing is beneficial because you don't get full as fast. That and the slower eating was something I really had/have a problem with. Now at almost 4 months out, I still eat too fast and don't chew near as much as I should. Old habits are hard to break

    Hi All -
I'm Donali (pronounced Donnelly), 42yo female. I've been battling my weight all my life, done ever diet imaginable, and some beyond imagination! lol I was banded as a self-pay in TJ by Dr Lopez on 1/23/03.
My last pre-band diet was a year on Meridia, which really did help with my appetite - I went from 313 to 228 in a year. But, of course, once the medication was over... appetite kicked in, and I got back up to 303. Geez.
My sister had the RNY a few years back - she lost down to a size 18, and is almost back to where she started. She's frantically doing Atkins now. I almost had the RNY because my insurance would pay, but after watching sis regain, and reading more about the risks, I knew I just couldn't do it. My initial reaction to the band was "gross - I don't want that thing in me" until I realized that was my best option. It's not nearly as gross as I thought it would be! lol
My journey is slower than many, because I refuse to "diet" - I am mindful of what I eat, but nothing is off limits. I had 6 months of intensive compulsive overreating counseling, which has been a God send for my self-esteem. It also gave me a lot of tools to deal with my emotions seperate from food. This weekend I was craving M&Ms, so I ate a bunch of those, but that happens very very rarely. I know they're not off limits, so even if I overindulge I do not get down on myself or freak out, because it is so rare for me to do that.
Anyway, I continue to search for sneaky exercise activities - you know, the kind that are fun so you don't realize you're getting exercise. I am still at the point emotionally that I do not want to start a program that I might fail at - the 47 pounds I have lost should never come back as long as I keep my band and this current restriction, as I am just living my life "normally", not doing anything special. Sure, I'd love to lose faster, but not at the risk of all the good counseling work I've done. I'm looking at this as the rest of my life, and trying to focus more on living and not my WEIGHT, which has been an obsession most of my life.
My goals: To be at peace with food. To eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. To be good to myself emotionally, and be my biggest supporter! To be the kind of friend to myself that I am to others.
As a side benefit of these goals, I hope to lose another 121 pounds or so. Frankly, I'd be thrilled to reach 185 again - at least for a little while!
I'm filled to 2ccs after my 3rd fill 7/5/03. I am still able to eat a whole sandwich, but just barely. My fills tend to tighten-up after a MONTH, so we'll see how I'm feeling in August. I don't want my intake to be so low that my metabolism is further suppressed - my next big learning curve is trying to increase my metabolism.
    Best wishes to everyone!

Hello...I know how your feeling, but believe me that six months did me well! It helped with weight loss and prepared me for the 10 day liquid as well as Now. Because it's a total Mind-Game and if I hadn't prepared I think I would be going crazy! Also the weight loss prior helped with recovery. I worked out hard and lost 30lbs. before surgery and that will make you feel Great going into surgery! I was able to clean out my closet and I got rid of old clothes 1 week before surgery and brought a cute jogging suit to wear home...that's now TOO BIG! So embrace the six month journey and with determination and willpower and you will be able to cope...Post-Op. Prayers are with you!

My mother has history of high blood pressure. She had the gastric sleeve on Monday. Was released from hospital Friday morning. Friday afternoon BP was 180/110. She's on Atenolol for high blood pressure and also on levothyroxine for thyroid issues. Took her to ER Dept. Friday. They kept her overnight and gave her more meds. BP is still very high. Can't seem to get anywhere with any doctors. Any reason why BP would be so high after surgery even with meds?

You are not really eating enough calories to sustain an exercise program. Your body has been without solid food for over a month, now. Be aware that it is time for you to anticipate that "dreaded third week stall" that we talk about here on the forum, so don't freak out about it. If you stay with the formula of getting your Proteins first you will do alright.
At the soft food stage you could even have very tender meat that has been broken up a bit in the blender, cheese, cooked veggies mashed up, some of us were even eating refried Beans at that point. Your new stomach is the boss of you now, so you may as well give it a name and listen to what it is trying to tell you. This whole process is about developing a sense of self-preservation through outstanding nutrition and new habits.
Just like when introducing junior foods to a toddler, you don't give the child a lot of new stuff on the same day. Take your time. But you need to eat something. You can't trade overeating for anorexia. Due to your medications, Vitamins, and ketosis, some of your old favorites may no longer taste the same.
My new stomach is Miss Tummy, and yes, at almost a year (12/23/2014) she is still the boss of me.

Buttercupbrown reacted to sr910 in Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Just wanted to chime in about weight gain/weight loss since being sleeved. I was sleeved April 2013 (now over a year and a half out) and I'm still losing slowly but surely. I started at 306.5. Currently at 200 lbs. I'm 5'7", 28 years old, wearing L shirts and size 12 pants are getting big. I don't drink soda (never ever -- people that say "oh I leave it out and let it go flat first"-- that's stupid, I'm sorry. Don't do it), I get my Water in, I'm not great with Vitamins but my bloodwork looks great so I'm not worried about it (although I do keep up with my Calcium and D3), and I try to eat balanced meals (not ALL Protein, but a healthy balance while still focusing on that protein). I've had small fluctuations in weight along the way (a couple pounds here and there) and I don't always make the best choices as far as food goes, but you've just got to put everything in perspective -- if you've made it to a certain pant size, do you really want to go back up in size? You've gone through a major surgery and major lifestyle change for this weight loss -- do you really want to throw that away? Hang in there, if you're in the first six months or year DO NOT STRESS about any fluctuations, your body is just trying to figure out what's going on. You'll be fine, just follow your surgeon's plan and get that water in!
