  1. Ooh...a journal is good! I'll have to check it out. Emotions are a huge factor here - for sure. Thanks for your encouragement and congrats on your success!
  2. Thank you! I'm sure this isn't going to be pleasant for me, but neither is all of the pain I feel daily in my back, knees, and feet. Good to know about the reflux.
  3. I'm on CIGNA insurance and am getting the sleeve. I've been to two out of four monthly visits required. I'm going through True Results in Dallas. So far, so good. Best wishes to you. Melissa
  4. Your success is inspiring! Thank you for responding. I'm learning by "listening" to people who have gone before me in this that it takes time and that slow and steady really does win the race. As for the emotional eating - I think this is going to be a big wake-up call for me...but I think it will probably prompt me to journal more and (eventually) to take my frustrations on a long run through the local park. I used to love to run when I was thinner. Best wishes to you, and congrats on the new you. :-)
  5. Thank you for your input. I'm so sorry you're having a rough time. Life has seasons. Seasons change. Hopefully your new happier healthier season will begin soon. I'll have to remember to prepare for acid-reflux. Thanks for that advice. :-)
  6. Thank you for encouraging me. I am so glad you're feeling so great! Thank you also for reminding me about the gas pains. I had those after my 3 c-sections. This is the same advice I tell new moms who have had a c-section - keep the gas medicine handy for that first week or so. I'll have to remember that as I prepare for surgery. Congrats on your weight loss and your new life! :-)
  7. What a change, eh? Congrats on your new life.
  8. I'd wondered how this feels - the restriction. I'm glad you feel so good so often. Right now (pre-op) I feel so bad so often. I cannot wait to have my knees, back, and feet feel better without the weight. Congrats on your steady losses. :-)
  9. Thank you! I've had 3 c-sections. Some hurt worse than the others. I was wondering how this would rate pain-wise. Thanks for your input, and congrats on your success. :-)

    Tomorrow is the big day!

It's gonna be so great! Wishing you all the best.
  11. I am about two months out from my sleeve surgery. I have moderate sleep Apnea, am a single mom of 3 (ages 7, 14, and 18), and have a lot of trouble getting in enough time on my CPAP machine. My 7 year old is in a phase of not wanting to go to bed on time. I'm not in your exact situation, but I do understand. I'm proud of your decision to better your health through sleeve surgery. I handle life with prayer. I'll be praying for you.

    It's surgery day.

Yay! I'm praying for everything to go well. -Melissa
  13. I have 110 more pounds on me than you do, and 7 years (and 110 pounds) ago I said I needed to lose some weight. Now I'm miserable and have multiple health problems. Fixing the weight issue NOW is a good plan. I'm so sorry you're not being supported. You have made a decision for yourself - and I think that is brave. I don't know you, but I'm so proud of your decision. I am on track to have sleeve surgery in late March/early April. Yes - it IS a lifetime commitment - but we are SO worth it. You're giving yourself and your husband several extra years of a good quality of life. Take a breath. Take a step back and evaluate how awesome it is that you're doing something for yourself. And smile. -Melissa
  14. Good morning, I am so glad I found this forum. I'm new here and have already been encouraged by the things I've read. Hi, my name is Melissa. I'm a single mom to three amazing kiddos, ages: 18 (girl), 14 (girl), and 7(boy). I have a great education, a great job, and great kiddos - it's time for me to be in great health. The gastric sleeve seems like a good tool to get me started. Thank you all for your encouragement. I hope to give you the same in return. I'm ready to let my outside reflect who I am inside. -Melissa
