1. You bet I called, and I am glad I did... found that the surgeons office missed something called the surgeon back... I called again to verify everything and by that afternoon received call from surgeon stating my surgery is approved... Now just waiting for the date...

    X ray complete 07/08/2008

    Lab work 07/10/2008

    EKG 07/09/2008

    GI 07/12/2008

    Woo hoo getting excited:thumbup:

  2. I really expected this to be a fight I thought the insurance would look over my request and say well lets try the 6 month diet... Well not at all the authorization request was submitted July 3rd and the surgeon called me yesterday stating that it had been approved.

I travel approx. 1 hr each way to and from work.. so it gives me plenty of time to think... I started doubting myself thinking I failed at every diet I ever went on. I am a glutton when I eat.. I take as my husband calls it HUGE bites... and drink like 4-5 glasses of Water or tea when I eat... how in the heck am I going to re-train my eating habits...

I lay in bed at night thinking wow one day I might wear a size 10-12 again. Then I think,, "yeah right"...

Wow very screwed up in the head right now from excited to paniced!:confused2:

  3. I guess I would call myself the bored eater... My hunny goes to bed real early because he is up early.. So I watch tv or play on the computer and think that the refrigerator is calling my name. My husband is one of those guys who can eat anything and have no consequences. I am just the opposite he eats it I gain it.

What happens after the band, from what I read I won't lose the desire to be that bored eater, am I still going to eat and gripe at myself the next day.

I need to lose this weight my knees hurt so bad and my mother is heavy and had both knees replaced..

I am scared what if I fail.. I have tried WW, JC, NS & numerous more thousands of dollars and failed nearly everytime.

Will I change I am so scared... Sorry needed to vent... Still in the insurance process... :confused2:

  4. I have an appointment tomorrow for the lap band orientation. They have already called me and confirmed that my insurance(if approved) will pay 90%.

But I don't know where to begin... What if I don't like the surgeon, I didn't go through my regular doctor because I work with them and they believe in the good old fashion weight loss program.. (Tried and failed.)

Is there anyone here from Bakersfield, California area.. This group of doctors also work in the Beverly Hills area.

Just looking to see if anyone has any information.. I wonder if this is really going to happen...:rolleyes2:

  5. Ok, I am not at the 40 bmi, I am at 37, I have high blood pressure, HIGH HIGH cholesterol over the 300 the medicine makes my body feel like it has the flu. So the PA I work for said that it is going to have to come down naturally. My weight is 235lb and 5'5" tall...

So going to the orientation on Saturday. Husband is not supportive as of yet, I am very scared. I worry that I will fail at this too.. Then everyone will say look she can't even lose weight with the lap band.

Has any one went in with less. My knees are killing me. My mom is heavy and had both knees replaced, and that tur:confused2:ned out bad... I guess I just don't know what to do...

    Any advice, Jill

  6. I am waiting to switch insurances so for now I am just reading and learning..
If you don't mind answering a few questions, your help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a nervous picker...

If I have a bump on my arm I constantly touch it or pick at it... is the port going to be something that is noticed easy? I hate to write that but that has been one of my concerns.

What happens if you really really get hungry?

Do you miss food during the liquid diet and how did you over come your desires?

How long before you felt that the lap band was apart of you?

In other words how long before you felt normal?

Do you get to eat steak or anything like that on occasions??

    Thanks for you answers:faint:

  7. I am really wanting to get this surgery done. But here are my concerns, lack of will power, I have read on here that a person has to go with out eating prior to the surgery, I haven't missed a meal in 20 years :D. Then after surgery you don't eat again for a certain amount of time. Are you hungry? I thought I better ask now cause I am concerned that I will do this and die of starvation:embarassed::help:
