Help? How do you know your full?

After your surgery it will take time to learn the knew signs of when to stop eating. It took me a long time to learn the signs. I threw up a lot because I over ate. For me, there are two signs. The first sign is when I first feel the restriction kicking in. This is often very subtle in feeling. I normally stop then and there and feel fully satiated. However, I can eat past that point. The next sign is not subtle. It is very obvious that I am stuffed and I feel uncomfortable. I know that if I even take one more bite I will likely throw up. I also begin to slime at that point. In time you will get used to it and just automatically stop at the first sign of restriction.

    how much can I lose?

Today is my one year surgiversary. I started out 200 lbs overweight and lost 180 lbs in one year. So, yes, it's possible. It all depends on you. It doesn't matter which surgery you get. You can't rely on it alone to do the work for you. It's just a tool so you have to use it wisely and correctly.

    Protein shake problems

I like Body Fortress from Walmart. The chocolate is my favorite. Vanilla is okay too. strawberry is just so-so. The chocolate and Peanut Butter is okay as well.
  5. @Beck90 I didn't have to ask my surgeon or doctor. I just rejected it the same way that I reject the notion that eating pop rocks and drinking pop will explode your stomach. It's just silly talk. Look, there is a logical fallacy called "appeal to authority". Just because a doctor or surgeon tells you something does not make it true unless he or she can back it up with actual evidence. Merely being a professional is not good enough. Just like they say that drinking diet pop makes you gain weight because you crave more sweets. Not true for me. I drink diet pop every day and only eat sweets on special occasions (birthdays and holidays).
  6. The belief that it will stretch your sleeve is nonsense. However, what it can do is cause you pain if you are still close out from your surgery. The pain is of course from gas. I will be one year out tomorrow and I drink diet pop every day. I think I began drinking it again close to 2 months outside of surgery.

    Water Retention

Water retention is usually not a problem if you are eating like you should be and consuming enough water in a day. For men, the problem is rare. Protein itself is a diuretic. So if you focus on protein you should be good. Women have to struggle with it a lot more than we do.

    Stuck

Some stalls can last a long time. You need to shock your system. First make sure you are eating enough calories. If you have too few calories your body will cling on to fat instead of burning it. Then check to make sure you aren't eating too many carbs. Carbs will sabotage your weight loss. Finally, makes sure you are exercising because there are indeed people here who complain about weight loss stalls who do not do any exercise. Finally you can try to shock your system. One easy way is to eat lots of carbs for a couple of days and then go to no carbs. The sudden shock can break a stall. Keep in mind that you will experience all the withdrawals of going without carbs, such as headache, fatigue, feeling of faint, irritability, etc., until you reach ketosis. If you already consuming carbs then cut out all carbs right now. This works for me.

    Breakfast ideas.

I drink a Protein shake for breakfast and lunch and then eat a normal dinner and sometimes a snack at night. Otherwise, eggs are a good choice.

    Protein suggestions

I tried several but ultimately settled on Body Fortress from Walmart. The chocolate and vanilla are the best. The chocolate Peanut Butter is okay. The strawberry is kinda blah.
  11. Your tastes will change the further you go out from surgery. You will probably notice that you can eat in the future the stuff you can't tolerate now.

    Need advice pls....

Well, it all depends on how big you are. The larger you are the more weight you should be losing at the start. I was 200 lbs overweight and I lost 100 lbs in less than 6 months, which is on target for the rate I should be losing. If you were very large like me and you are not losing at the rate you should be losing then the doctor may be worried. When you are really big your body needs thousands of calories a day just to maintain that size and move that big honking body around. So when you stop eating like that you will begin to lose weight extremely fast and then it will taper down and slow down to normal weight loss rates.
  13. Nope. You've stretched your skin out and it will never go back to being normal again. The only solution is plastic surgery. I'm suffering the same thing by the way. My friend jokes and says that I should use chip clips on the back of my neck when I take pics. lol
  14. You can also try a volumizing spray like Bed Head's Queen for the Day.

    Prediabetic postop?

Agree. Have them retest. For the overwhelming majority of pre-diabetics or recently diagnosed diabetics the surgery will clear it up. I was told patients who have been diagnosed within two years have the highest chances of being cured.

    Cerviche

Yeah, I've been offered it before but I declined. Please know that it's not cooked and the citrus does nothing to kill parasites. It's entirely raw. Your chances of getting sick from eating it are small but there's still a chance. If you like sushi then you will probably be fine with it.

Waking up with low blood sugar

It's only temporary. Your body will adapt to it. Try eating before going to bed. Right after my surgery I was getting major feelings of faint when I woke up in the morning but they eventually went away. If you are concerned talk to your doctor.

    Right track or slow progress

I don't remember how much I lost at 3 months but I know that by 6 months I had already lost over 100 lbs. Keep in mind that a lot of it depends on how big you were to start with. I also did a 2 week pre-op diet and patients who do that will lose far more weight than those who do not do the pre-op diet, just from what I've seen from people here.
  19. I lost 25 lbs during my 2 week pre-op diet. This was without any form of exercise. 1st Week: All the Water, tea and sugar free drinks you wannt All the chicken broth you want All the sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles you want Breakfast and lunch is a Protein shake dinner is lean, unbreaded meat on a bed of greens 2nd Week: The same as week 1 but replace dinner with another Protein Shake.

    Psych evaluation required?! Why?

Honestly, its because insurance is paying for it and they want to know if you are just going to waste money. That's the brutal truth. If you do self pay you don't have to jump through all the hoops.
  21. Okay, so I've made a transformation for sure. Before my surgery I was classified as a "2" on a scale of 1 to 10, with one being the lowest and 10 the highest. I know this because gay guys will tell you the truth. I was fine with that. I didn't mind because I didn't love myself and I didn't want love or attention from anyone else either. However, after my weight loss I've been told numerous times that I'm now an "8". I regularly get hit on by both women and men, and I really don't know how to process it. One time recently when I was hit on by a guy at the club I began to have a mini panic attack. I turned bright red and got super hot and then all of sudden turned ice cold and got really pale. I felt like I was going to pass out. I practically ran out the club, and honestly, I went to my car and started crying. This is the second time I cried over such an incident. The first time I was walking at a park and noticed this trio of younger women following me. They began trying to get my attention so I took out my ear buds and one of them said "nice ass" and they were giggling. One tried to approach me as if she was going to touch me and I turned red and started walking fast to get away from them, tears streaming down my face. I'm a total train wreck. I feel like I'm a fraud like I'm fooling people into thinking that I'm attractive when I'm really not. I definitely don't see what everyone sees when I look in the mirror. I'm actually considering getting therapy over it. I've spent almost all of my life being and feeling like a hideous monster that I don't know how to think or feel differently. Can anyone relate or am I just a horrible freak? In the before picture I'm the blob behind the boy. This was taken 1 year ago in April 2015. I had my surgery one month later on May 12, 2015. The second picture was taken today, May 4, 2016.
  22. At first, nothing much. You won't be able to eat much of anything so you will continue to lose weight. However, months after surgery you will find that you can now eat more. That's when problems can develop if you eat too many carbs or junk. I'll be a year out of surgery on the 12th and I still incorporate the shakes. I like them. I found the best one for me is Body Fortress that you can buy at Walmart, chocolate and vanilla. The strawberry ones are gross. They help me keep my Protein requirements.

    Questions

As far as I'm aware the studies ended at 5 years and didn't not continue, meaning that it can't be said that there is an issue of major regain after 5 years because the studies ended. You will experience a good 6-8 months of not feeling hungry after the surgery. This is because the hunger hormone ghrelin is drastically decresed. There's no way around loose or extra skin. You stretched it out and now you have to face the consequences. The good news is that the answer is plastic surgery. Good Luck!
