  1. @@blissfulbeing thank you for you're response. Yes let's stay in touch as we endure on our journey at the same time. Thanks so much to everyone for their posts and encouragement. I am now pumped up about the procedure and still wanting to move forward. Can't wait to share my experience with everyone. Let's all hope for a happy healthy and smaller new year (:

Yay, Avhick! Just keep focusing on that ????happy, healthy, and smaller new year????! Woo hoo!

  2. At my 2 week f/u when I saw I had lost 26lbs. Everything had been easy up to that point. I had no issues with recovery . I was prepared for a slow but steady weight loss so seeing that number at 2 weeks was encouraging.

Wow! That's fantastic, BLERDgirl! 26 pounds GONE! Kicking you-know-what and taking names!

  3. I love my FitBit. It communicates with my iPhone to track my steps walked, floors climbed and calories burned (based on my weight). It is a great motivator! I have the one that clips on, but if I could do it all over, I'd buy the one that's like a Bracelet because you don't have to find anything to clip it onto. I think they run about $100. Last time I lost a substantial amount of weight, I was just using my FitBit and tracking my calories. I'm so excited to start using my FitBit again once I've had surgery - hopefully next month!

  4. Hi my name is Jennifer I had the sleeve on Tuesday the 23rd. I've done pretty good I think. Have some pretty bad gas, done a lot of walking. It's uncomfortable to drink. But I'm managing to get it done. Had some nausea the first and second night home but none since.

Hi Jennifer! Welcome to the New Day thread! ???? I'm so excited for you and proud of you! Way to get it done, sister! You are on the road to recovery now! Glad you are home and doing well!

Also, thank you for your candor about the few days before surgery. I imagine I will be feeling quite similar. It's such a big undertaking and life change. I just keep trying to focus on the exiting possibilities ahead. I feel like I've been living a sort of "half life," where I'm not in it 100%. It's time to let that lifestyle go and open up to a new beginning. I'm hoping your recovery continues to go well. Please keep us posted so that we can support each other on our journeys.

  5. My surgery is January 12th so it is right around the corner! I am extremely nervous as I have never had any type of surgery or major medical procedure before. All of my nervousness goes away when I think of how much better I will feel this time next year. I'm going to power through the liquid diet suffering, the pain, and all else because I know in the long run it will be worth it. Going through surgery will be hard, but being overweight is hard and miserable. Think of all the opportunities and activities that will be bearable at a lower weight! Think of the money saved when we don't have to buy plus size clothing! Think of the energy we will have not binge eating on unhealthy, processed foods! I was just telling my family tonight that I wish my surgery was tomorrow...I'm ready for my new life to begin!

Mariah - you are so right: there are so many great things ahead for us! And a lot of hard work and maybe some tough times during recovery. But it will pay off!

  6. My surgery is Monday. I'm nervous going back and fourth on whether to do this but I'm also very excited. I hope i move forward and don't chicken out!!!!

Avhick - I have been thinking the same thing. It is so scary! I just keep reading all of the success stories - there are stories after stories of people saying how glad they are they had the surgery. And how they've worked so hard resulting in their lives changing so much for the better. Keep reading those! In the meantime, let's keep supporting each other along the journey. ????

  7. Hi Mariah! I'm still waiting for the person who does the scheduling to call me. I'm hoping to have surgery by the end of January, but it might be sometime in February. I guess my surgeon is pretty booked up. Thanks for your comment - it's so nice to know I'm not the only one feeling this way. I am so nervous and excited about the surgery. I'm truly relieved that things will really start to change. I'm tired of hiding out in this cafe I've built.

Tell me more about your journey! Are you booked in for surgery yet? What are your goals?

    CAVE! Not cafe!! ????

  8. I woke up this morning and realized: This will be the last holiday season I will allow myself to be single and invisible. By this time next year I will have blossomed into my true beautiful and healthy self instead of hiding behind all of this weight and shame. I am so excited for the adventure ahead. I pray it goes well. I know it will be a tough path, but that the rewards will be so worth it.

Do you remember the day you knew your life was going to change for the better?

  9. Congratulations!!! I am in the very beginning stages here.. I went to the doctor on Tuesday because I threw by back out and brought up the subject of getting the gastric sleeve. She suggested I get lap-band - but I'm pretty positive this is what I want. I have my 1st meeting 01/06/2015. I can't wait to start on this new journey. Again, congrats to you!!

    Kristen

Hopefully your doc will give you plenty of info about the variety of options. It seems like lots of people are getting their lap bands converted to sleeves. Do your research! ????

This site/app is an amazing resource! And the people are wonderful and supportive!

  10. You will be nervous the day before or day of surgery and that is normal! Don't let those last minute fears talk you out of a surgery you rationally decided to have and have worked for months to get to. Nervous is normal because it is a big change.

Also, the first week after surgery you likely will not be able to meet either your Protein intake goals or your Fluid intake goals and likely both. Do the best you can to work on both every day. Every day it will get better but don't panic if you can't get x grams of Protein or x ounces of Water. Your primary goal the first week is to heal and get enough fluids to keep hydrated enough. Sip constantly when you are awake and as long as you are really trying to stay hydrated, you probably can stay hydrated enough.

You will be tired, have little stamina, and probably be frustrated by it. Remember you just had major surgery and your priority is to heal. sleep (especially extra sleep) is almost as important as fluids. Cut yourself some slack and let your body do what it has to.

Constipation is a common concern after surgery. Please work on easing the problem sooner rather than later. If you need ideas to help ease the constipation do a quick search on these forums. The subject has been discussed many times and there are some great suggestions available to help.

Remember we are all here to support you! If you need anything ( support, questions, to vent) ask here or reach out!

Good luck and can't wait until you join the loser's bench!

    You are awesome, Luvin_Life125!
