    Seems surreal

I feel the exact same way! I have chosen to take it slowly. I let my warm sweaters go to Good Will this week. Next week it will be all the pants I have "out grown/under grown". The shirts can work alright for the next 5 weeks until school is out for summer.

    Blender Blues!

The froth makea me feel yuck, too. I have taken to making my protein shakes more like an iced coffee. I mix the powder in about 1/4 cup of milk in a small cup and let it sit for a few minutes so it blends. Then, I pour it into a larger cup, filled with ice, with the other 3/4 cup of milk. Stir. Absolutely no froth!!!
  3. Click on your name at the top of the page, go into My Settings. There should be a box on the right that says something like, How much weight have we lost. Put your weight in there and it will automatically update everything.
  4. @@Rev Del, I drink one protein shake per day (32 grams) and then use a combo of 1/4 cottage cheese (6.5 grabs), 1/4 cup Cream of Wheat (3 grams), 1/4 cup Greek Yogurt (6.5 grams), 1/4 cup milk (2 grams), and the occasional meal of two egg whites (7 grams). Not too exciting, but I can usually hit my current requirement of 60 grams per day. I was able to raise my protein amount a bit within my shake by using unflavored protein powder with milk and adding one packet of Diet Hot cocoa mix which has 2 grams of protein.
  5. @@Rev Del, I know exactly what you mean. I want to see that scale number go down, too. Sadly, it is the defining "proof" that this surgery is working. I know it will come, but, and I say this like a three year old in the middle of a tempur tantrum, I want it now!

    First NSV

Three cheers! Keep up the good work!
  7. @@Rev Del I am so happy to hear someone else with this same issue. I had surgery the same day as you and I also weigh every day. Week one I lost ten pounds. Week two, only one. This week I have gained for two days, then down less than I gained, gain more for a couple days, down, gain a bunch. I now weigh back to almost as high as I was on April 28th!!! My one sanity saving grace is that my body fat percentage is going down and my size has gone down a bit, but the numbers thing is disheartening. I have gone through, and am going through, too darn much to not see the scale numbers go down. A stall I could tolerate, but to keep going up? Not cool!

    Protein shake recipes

I struggle to get through a full shake without beginning to feel ill. One thing I have found that helps is to add a bit of peppermint extract. I also want to get as much Protein in one shake as possible, so: chocolate Peppermint Shake 32 grams protein 8 oz milk (9 grams) 1 scoop unflavored unjury (Or other protein powder) (21 grams) 1 packet Diet (NSA) hot cocoa mix (2 grams) Several drops peppermint extract I pour this over crushed ice, but it can also be warmed up for a hot cocoa.
  9. I started week 3 on Tuesday. I am still drinking one Protein shake per day to make my minimum protein requirements. Other than that, I have been eating cottage cheese, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, cream of chicken Soup, cream of potato soup, Greek yogurt and egg whites. If I am low on protein, I will also drink 1/2 cup of beef consomme' as it has 5 grams of protein in it. I am looking forward to adding some fish and such in starting a week from Sunday! As for how often, it seems like I have to eat/drink non-stop to get near my requirements in. It is definitely a full-time job.

    Vacationing after surgery.

I guess I would have to ask first, what are you doing on your vacation? That will make a difference on how well you'll be able to handle it.
  11. I had to have the EKG, Upper GI which led to a full endoscopy, sleep study, psych eval, blood work, nutrition counseling and clearance from all other doctors

    Water hurts but protein doesnt?

Thank you!!! I followed your suggestion and got some powerade zeros. although it still hurts going down it is so much easier to drink and I was able to get a 32oz bottle down in a matter of a couple hours. Glad I could help! It is all I drank my first few days. Since then I have it and ice water. Hope things keep improving for you.
  13. I haven't heard of too many. For me, I was given blood thinners in the oor and a couple of times a day while in the hospital. Plus got to wear the little leg booties. the way my surgeon put it is, "We treat a thousand people to help prevent the complications that one person would have."

    Fitbit fitness tracker link-up

I have an HR. I chose it because I have heart rate issues and like being able to easily check it. I also like being able to check it as I walk to make sure how hard I really am working.

    Water hurts but protein doesnt?

to help get past the dehydration, maybe you should try some Gatorade g2 or Powerade sugar free. It would get your fluids in and help with hydration and might not have the same effect as water.

    Brrrrr.. It's Cold....

My surgeon told me this would happen and she was right! It isn't quite as bad for me at two weeks out, but before that I would suffer from being cold and waves of chills.

    April bypass buddies.

Hi there, I am day 11 and I would try it. If it were to upset your new tummy somehow I wouldn't repeat it again, but try it.
  20. Is, or did, anyone else have issues with some smells? Tomato based items, such as spaghetti sauce, bready things, like fried chicken (not cooked in my house, but eaten there), and the stir fry my family made with sesame oil. That oil was a killer. Today was the spaghetti sauce. My husband walked into the room with it and not two Minutes later I was running out of my house and into fresh air! Yes, it got me to take another walk, but geez! It is worse now than during any of my three pregnancies! Anyone else?

    April bypass buddies.

I went to get a nutri bullet, but left with the much less expensive Farberware versioN. I have used it several times and am thrilled with it! It was $20.
