alyssadietrch got a reaction from Sleeved Nurse in 9 days post op, feel great :)
Hey yall so my surgery was nov 19. I had cold feet going in, I wanted to jump off of the operating table when the nurse put in my IV! I started regretting my decision and feeling so guilty about putting myself through a voluntary surgery. The nurse could tell how nervous I was, and she gave me some medicine that made me laugh at everything and I felt great haha. That was the last thing I remember before waking up in the recovery room.
I got to see my mom and other family who were there with me. I woke up in no pain at all, quickly after I got up to go pee and walk around the hallways. The compression things they put on my calves annoyed me, so I kept walking and sitting in chairs so I didn't have to wear them
The next day, I was able to sip 24 ounces of Water with sugar free crystal light. Slowly, one oz every 10 minutes. After every 6 ounces I would take a walk down the hall. The only time I was in pain was when I would try to get up from sitting/laying. But it wasn't bad. Since I was doing so well, I was able to go home that night instead of the next morning
The clear phase of the liquid diet for a week after the surgery was hard. It sucked. I got so sick of Jello and broth lol. But now that I'm on full liquids and I can have Soup and milk, I'm SO happy. Haha. I'm doing great and getting my Protein in without a problem.
With a 10 day pre op liquid diet until now, I've lost about 30 pounds. Some old jeans already fit, my scars are almost healed, and I'm so excited for what's to come! if anyone has any questions or advice to give, feel free! I've included before and after pics so far as well

Mine are very itchy too and I can see on the side of the steri strips that it is red. My doc also said if they get a bad smell that could mean an infection.

Yep itchy= healing. As long as they don't feel warm to the touch or have any drainage, puss then you should be ok!

You could also try Water poaching the egg (just google it). Pretty easy to do and much softer than scrambled. In fact on my plan I can have poached during the pureed phase and not scrambled till 12 days later.
Made my first poached egg this morning...was able to eat about 2/3 of it...lol My pooches are going to love my sleeve!
    Good luck!

I was so excited when I finally made it to this phase! One of my favorite, go to meals during that phase and one that I actually still use is a ricotta bake. Soooo yummy and so simple!

I made it a head of time so I had some always ready to just pop into the microwave to reheat. I think I might have cut the portions in half too.
    Lots of luck!

Update: I just was able to eat an entire scrambled egg ???? I made it with a lot of milk this time, it made the eggs a lot softer and easier to swallow ???? thanks for everyone's advice! What are some other foods that are good for the purred diet? This is the paper I got from my doctor.

Any Protein that is a bit dry has the potential to get stuck in Sleeveville and cause some premature filling.
As others have said, adding some moisture (broth, yogurt, sauce) to your Protein can help it along in the sleeve.
If you think of your sleeve as a narrow tube, dry protein will likely get stuck a bit on the way down, whereas a moist protein will likely slide down a bit easier and allow you to eat more. Of course, so soon after surgery and your tube might be very narrow. It will improve with time!
Turkey is a definite moisture protein for me. Very small bites and plenty of gravy and we're good. And it all tastes great!

eggs may have to be something you have to hold off on for a while...although I never had an issue with them, some people have a hard time with them getting "stuck". You may have to wait another month to try again!

@@alyssadietrch Add a tiny bit of milk to your eggs when you scrabble them (I use almond milk)...that will make them "Softer".

You are completely normal - if you consider someone who has 80% of their stomach removed normal . eggs and chicken are two of the hardest things on my Sleeve. And 2 years out, I get the occasional grumble from Frankensleeve when I eat baked chicken.< /p>
We all have different tolerances to different foods. Only by experimenting will you find out when your new sleeve is ready.
It took almost 9 months before I could eat fibrous fruit like pineapple - 1/2 a bite would send Frankensleeve into spasms. But every few weeks, or when I got the opportunity, I'd eat a bite of pineapple, apple, or grapes to see how he'd react. It just takes time.
So I'd say take advantage of this period to get used to eating slowly and in small amounts.
At 6 months, my sleeve seemed to hold a little more, and again at 1 year, a little more. That's the point at which you need to have developed good eating habits and are going to have to use more willpower to stay with eating right and in the right amounts. I've found it all too easy to slide back into old eating habits.

You may have eaten it too fast. I know we are told to go slow, but honestly it's not just slow, we have to go a virtually a snails pace or risk stacking. I also found it helpful make soft scrambled eggs.
    I hope you feel better!

I would use this opportunity to see how much weight you can lose on your own! Heck, maybe in 7 months, you'll see such a difference on your own and you won't even want to have the surgery anymore part of me wishes I waited, when I went in for my consultation it got approved right away, so I didn't have much time to think it through. Even if your heart is set on having the surgery, using this 7 months to diet and exercise will make the whole process a lot easier. You'll be able to adapt and get into a routine no problem good luck!

My periods after surgery are unusually heavy with very painful cramping. I thought your periods were suppose to be lighter and less painful after pregnancy. Well, that never happened. I thought once I was down 50 pounds it would get better. Nope, it actually has gotten worse. Maybe my body is just a little messed up from surgery and will eventually regulate to more healthy state. I'm on hormone pills now, so hopefully that will help ease up on my heavy periods.

My cycle was off for about 3 months after surgery. I actually had my period the day of surgery. It stopped 2 days later and then started again 2 weeks later. I went to my pcp and was put on a new birth control. I haven't had any issues since. Definitely let your surgeon know at your next follow up!

It matters when you feel comfortable I started sleeping on my side about a week after my surgery. You could try it with a pillow below your tummy for support. The pain from sitting up went away after about a week as well for me.
The feeling of hunger came back after about 10 days. The full feeling, my doctor described to me, is going to be above your ribs, like right under your chest in the middle, instead of in your stomach. Which is kind of hard to get used to! Lol.

I have zero gag reflex. While it's a benefit to my husband, I wonder how that will translate after surgery if/when I get too full. I hope I'll be able to get it out!
