  1. I am 5 days post op and feeling pretty good with the exception of severe back pain which I have had starting after surgery. I am backing off of my narcotic pain meds and trying to do mostly liquid Tylenol. I'm urinating so I don't think it is kidney related and I am up and moving as prescribed by my Dr. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience and if anything helped?
  2. I am up and at em. I have a few hours before I have to be at the hospital. Feeling nervous and excited.
  3. I am nervous, scared, and excited. I didn't think it would be so soon, but I am not complaining. My Dr. said he would like to see me lose 6 more lbs before my weigh in next Wednesday (the 18th) and I think that is what I am most nervous about because my preop weight loss has been pretty slow. Anyone else getting sleeved on this day or close to it?
  4. Yes ma'am. I go on Monday morning. I have been dieting for so long, I am just glad I will FINALLY have a tool that will help me make significant progress. I know what you mean, I have never been "thin" so I have NO frame of reference, but the thought and prospect def make me want it more than I want food. So excited!

    Surgery on 2/23 and sick

I am having some drainage junk as well. I have been taking taking claritin and airbourne trying to head it off! Good luck! I hope it passes! I did my preadmission testing this morning and they said as long as my lungs are clear a common cold won't cause any issue. Hopefully it is the same in your case!
  6. @@nicolesix - The last supper comment made me LOL. I lost 5 of the 6 lbs needed so surgery is a go! It is starting to feel real now! I have a busy work week and an engagment on Saturday so hopefully that will make the week fly by! Yay!
  7. You look wonderful! Congratulations!
  8. 5 days left! I am really starting to get nervous. I have my final weigh in tomorrow and my DR wanted me to be down 6 lbs from last week and I have only lost 2.5-3 so I am hoping he doesn't cancel my surgery over those few lbs. Has anyone else been through that? =/

    Gaining weight pre op

Keep your chin up. I am in a similar boat. I have hypothyroidism also and have had a hard time with the pre-op diet. I have been following the diet to a T and I exercise 6 days a week. I was able to scheduele my surgery but my DR. said he needs me to lose 5 lbs before surgery (which is in 11 days). My NUT also seems like she doesn't believe my journal. I know and I am sure you know if you cheat, you're only cheating yourself. It will happen! Good luck!
  10. @NICOLESIX- My Dr. doesn't require a two week liquid diet which I am so grateful for, however, he does require i certain percentage of weight loss. He went ahead and sched my surgery but wants to see me in a week and in that time asked me to lose 6 more pounds, so I am once again looking at my diet to see how I can improve it and I am hitting the gym every single day in hopes I will meet his goal or at least get close to it. I will be devastated if I have come this far, got my date, and it be taken away over 6lbs. =/ Thank you everyone for your support, it means a lot! <3

    How Long Will It Take

I get my surgery date on the 10th. All said and done close to or just over 6 months. All programs are different but my DR. keeps you in the hosp for 3 days and wants you off work for 3-4 weeks. Good luck!
  12. I am in the same boat as you girl, I go on the 3rd to sched and I need to lose another 3 pounds or so. I've been low carb, high Protein, lots of veg for a few weeks and I have seen movement. (I've lost about 4 lbs this way already.) I am hoping I will drop this last 3 over the next 4 days. Good luck!
  13. I got the call today, my insurance approval finally came through! I go Friday for my final set of pre-op testing a 02/03 to scheduele. (looking like I am going to get a mid Feb. date) I am so excited, and nervous, it has been a long road, kind of hard to believe this part is finally here! Yay!
  14. This is my first time posting, so please bare with me. I go 01/22 for my final weigh in (so 9 days) and I need to lose 5 more pounds. I have been following the diet to the T and exercising and this last 5 will NOT come off. Does anyone have any suggestions, or tips?
  15. Yay! Congrats! I am hoping that I will get my surgery date on Thursday (pending I can lose a few more lbs to meet my weight loss goal.) My doctor does not require a liquid diet pre-op but my NUT has suggested I try it for a week or two to get in the swing of things for post-op. Sending well wishes your way!
  16. Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I have tried a few different things and have only lost a lb. I am backing off working out and doing all Clear Liquids (per my surgeons guidelines) until Thursday in hopes that I will be close enough to my goal to sched. surgery. Prayers and good vibes are always welcome!
  17. Thank you for the tip!! I am willing to try just about anything at this point. I am going to feel like crap if I can't sched my surgery over 3 to 5 lbs. I am hoping it is just a mini stall and by the weekend it will fall off.
  18. It is a diabetic diet, (I am not diabetic), 50% veg, 30%Protein, 20% fruit, dairy, starchy veg. 1000 calories. I do high impact cardio 3-4 times a week and walk a mile 4-5 times a week (in addition). I have been on it for going on three months and I have lost a decent amount but I need to lose 5 more to meet my drs guidelines to sched surgery and with only 9 days left I before my "final weigh in" I am starting to worry.

    Life Changes?

I have noticed that too, at work, people who used to just walk right by now notice me. I am curious about how my SO will act after surgery. Congratulations on your success by the way, I hope I do half as well as you are doing!

    Life Changes?

I am pre-op (surgery is in February 2015) but I have lost a significant amount of weight of my own and have noticed a shift in many of my friends (and some families) attitude towards me and my outward appearance. I wish I could understand the change, or why it has happened, and it makes me concerned about how things are going to be post op. How have the people in your life changed towards the new you?
  21. I have decided not to advise my employer what type of surgery I am having. Like others, I am nervous they will see this as an "elective" surgery and deny my 30 day leave of absence.
