Hey @@roundisashape I saw my surgeon today everything was good but I have to wait till Tuesday for puree foods :/ oh well day at a time. Anyhow maybe you have gas have you been walking from time to time? I was told not to use a straw because it cause more gas by swallowing extra air or something. I agree standing always feels better.

Hunger after surgery?
HawaiianTexan replied to bellalulu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No you don't feel hungry immediately after surgery. I didn't want to eat in the first 48 hours, I just wanted a drink. Even now over a week later i dint really get hungry i just focus on drinking/staying hydrated. Someone mentioned in another post when she was able to eat "normal food" hunger sorta returns. -
Day one post op
HawaiianTexan replied to Tamster01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't even want to look at my cell on first day lol let alone post in the forums. Like someone said my surgeon made clear it's all about pain and nausea control. They were really nice on constant rotations with meds, vitals, etc. I slept almost entire time my gf stayed with me watching tv, I barely spoke to her only waking up when nurses checked on me. In other words ring that bell/button in your bed right now and say it hurts like an 7+ someone should arrive quick. -
Difficulty Eating/Drinking Enough (4d post op)
HawaiianTexan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its been 4days since the surgery, I relatively feel little to no pain when sitting or laying still. However I need to stay hydrated and ever sip I take (Water, g2, Protein, broth, meds) cause my body make various grumbling sounds all over my chest and stomach as if my body is sounding off while the liquid travels. It is such an odd feeling that I don't want to eat/drink much. Sometimes it hurts were it grumbles, sometimes it makes me breifly nauseous. I have a shot glass I'm using to sip my drinks, usually takes me 3 sips to finish the glass so I feel like I'm not getting anywhere. Would it be bad to just drink like a regular person? Is it just me? I don't understand how I can finish a full Protein shake it would take me 12 hours like this factoring in I fall asleep. Any feedback or tips is greatly appreciated. -
Heres to hoping he allows me pureed stage tomorrow lolol !!!

@@roundisashape I think we had the same surgery date of 11/25 I have my first follow-up appointment tomorrow too... are you sure puree stage starts this soon? I'm more scared my stomach isn't ready. .

HawaiianTexan replied to IcanMakeit's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Ill probably need a breast reduction in a year. .. sounds scary -
@@finediva that's what I try to do 4oz an hour. It would take 16 hours to get all 64oz daily recommended and I just can't do that between naps and getting full. So I just do as much as I can during my waking hours.

When can I......
HawaiianTexan replied to HawaiianTexan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried sleeping on my side tonight caused sharp side pain near rib.... I think ill wait until sitting up doesn't have any brief discomfort. I'm currently 1 week post op, maybe you had better luck lol. Ill keep the fullness tip in mind. Ty @@alyssadietrch -
1. When can I start sleeping on my side again? I miss it soooo much. 2. When can I sit up in bed without a quick pain near ribs? 3. When will I be able to tell the difference between hungry, full, or pee pains lol

@@onmywaytoonederland I don't feel hungry anymore technically I just look at the clock and decide " oh I need to drink something again". I've even cook dinner for my family while I just sip on my Water. Interestingly I find that I dream about eating food a lot

When I woke up in the recovery room I was in mild pain I remember asking the nurse for help. When I was later taken to my room I would rate 4 on a pain scale. I was mostly nauseous I slept most of the time, never being up for more than 10 minutes. It wasn't until 24 hours later I started to feel much better the doctor said it was probably the anesthesia getting out of my system. I did have a sleeve and repair to my hiatal hernia. Overall it was less pain than I had imagined. 4 days after surgery I stop taking my pain medication as it was not necessary and I felt like it was just making me drowsy

A new me in 15 hours!
HawaiianTexan replied to onmywaytoonederland's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lol I slept like a baby the night before I guess that's the thing about being sleep deprived from video games lol.... You'll be fine, I actually expected everything to be worst than it really was. Your imagination is far worst. -
@@roundisashape I find it hard to drink a full Protein shake too. I feel like i can only get 4oz (1hour) down then I feel full for hours, which is often my cue to nap (after i wait a little). My doctor told me focus on being hydrated which I believe I'm doing well at but I can't get 64oz in a day I feel like I'm drowning.

HawaiianTexan replied to MindyLynn5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm getting chopped on the 25th LOL. I got to enjoy an early Thanksgiving feast since I knew I'd be getting surgery so close to the holidays. I'm starting to freak out with what I need to have ready for my recovery. -
Length of Your Pre-Op Liquid Diet?
HawaiianTexan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for Tues Nov 25, 2014 and I've noticed everyone is saying they were on special diet for 2 weeks. My doctor had me do Atkins diet from 11/17-11/21 then liquid diet 11/22-11/24. I'm starting to get worried that I wasn't advised to be on Protein shake diet for 2 weeks like most of the articles I've read about. How long was your pre-op liquid diet?- 19 replies
