CFGirl got a reaction from peteyrulz in Low BMI and Gastric Sleeve
I am 35 years old and I currently have a BMI of 34. I have been every BMI number from my highest BMI of 40 to my lowest BMI of 25 (with the help of prescription meds, diet, and lots of EXERCISE). I have been on this diet roller coster for 20 + years and I am done with it! I am done with the feelings of guilt for eating a peice of MY birthday cake, I am tired of working my butt off to lose just a little bit of weight and low and behold gain it back and then some! i am totally done with my cholesterol being 280!!!!!!!!!!! I am tired of being on dangerous diets, starving myself, running till my knees are completely sore and the plantar faciatis flares up, taking amphetamine prescription meds that are surly not doing my body good, all to gain it all back! Why wait till my BMI is back up to 40 or more and all the comorbidities that go with it? Why wait till you have stretched all your skin out and have to have MORE surgery to remove it? Why abuse your body until that magical day when you are totally unhealthy and can NOW have the surgery because NOW everyone is ok with it? Why not take care of business now and get on with living life? So as of Jan 13,2015, GAME OVER! This girl is getting off the roller coaster and getting on with life! I cannot wait for this new way of eating and living! See this is a change for the rest of our lives not till this diet ends or till I get to goal! It's FOREVER and I can't wait!! ???????? I pray and hope that you all have the best success and I applaude you all for being advocates of YOUR own health!

JaneJaneDoe and Akerly, if you continue to read post from around the board you will see the number one regret of this surgery was waiting sooooo long to have it! ????. I encourage you both to seek out the BEST OPTIONS for yourself! Like you both, there comes a time where enough is enough! Time to stop the guilt, shame, hatred of my reflection, self loathing, joint pain, lack of energy, and my constant worry about food and my weight! Not to mention by inability to maintain my weightloss once I get there! Timento take the bull by the horns and harness this baby in! Time to get HEALTHY and for once in my life MAINTAIN IT! See we all have gone through this! Every year we get motivated to lose weight and we exercise and eat right, maybe join WEight watchers. We continue this way of living for about 4-5 months. In that time, you Amy have dropped about 15-20lbs! Your hungry tired and workin you butt off to do this! Then you start to slip up. You ate more than the points allowed or you skipped a few gym workouts because now life/work has changed and you can't go as much as you did. All of the sudden BAMM! Right back where you were! Do that for about 15-20 years and as you can see you got absolutely NO WHERE! On top of that you continuously fight to just stay at the weight you are at!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!! SOOOO FRUSTRATING!! I decided once and for all I AM DONE! DONE,DONE,DONE! A lot of people will judge you for your desicion but I don't care! At the end of the day it is MY life and I have to live it! They haven't been there with me these 15-20 years sweating, starving, or crying! It has been me that's been through it all (and my poor husband????)! BTW, my husband is TOTALLY supportive! Bottom line is, at the end of day it is your life you have to live and the ONLY one person you will have to truly answer to is GOD and I whole heartily believe he is not going to hold this one against us!????. My gastric sleeve surgery was 4 months and 7 days ago and I have only lost 15 lbs!!!! I was 193 at surgery weigh and now I am 178!!! I run every other day and eat approx 800 calories and lots of protein!! I don't know what to do! I feel so upset and defeated! I have lost in 4 MONTHS. What some have lost in one week or one month!!!! Is it because I was a lower BMI or am I not eatting enough?? Feeling like this was just a Huge waste of money!!! Hoping someone can give me some insight!! Thanks!!!

1 month post op and since surgery I have lost 10 lbs! Yep, 10 lbs! I am happy with that! I had a lower BMI to start so I expected a lower weightloss than others. My weightloss is slow and that's ok. It is what it is! Hopefully the slow weightloss will decrease loose skin! Eating soft foods now. I am having difficulty knowing when I am full still. It hits me all of the sudden I am fine the next bite I am "uncomfortably" full! I will keep working on it. I do measure out my food. I can only eat about 1/4 cup of food always eat my Protein first. I am dealing with terrible Constipation however started Miralax and that has helped things. I definitely need to increase my fluids! I feel like I am constantly eating (because you have to chew, chew, chew and that time) that there is no time to drink! I will have to just start sipping all day! I still have a shake for lunch or Breakfast whichever. I am very happy with my desicion to do this! I don't stress over the scale anymore. I know my sleeve is working, I am eating a 1/4 cup of food or less at a meal, I am not hungry, and my body is losing just slowly! I am taking measurements Saturday to see where I am at! I keep tightening up my belt every few days and my clothes are definently getting baggy! I will continue to do what I do. Starting turbo jam today! That should kick the weightloss up! ????

i know the slow losing thing sucks and can be VERY frustrating but one thing I can tell you is TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS!!! I had surgery on 1/13 and have only dropped 6 lbs from my DOS weight but I have dropped 1 pants size!!!!!!!!! Biologically our bodies don't want us to lose weight and put forth all measures to prevent it!! I bodies are wired for us to eat and store Vitamins, fat, and nutrients protecting us from impending famine. However, our bodies haven't recieved the message that we have food options at every neighborhood corner and the likelihood of famine is nill. But, our body is an amazing machine and will continue to protect us even though we want it to let its guard down LOL!! The measurements say it all! The scale will catch up later! Just keep doing what your doing and it will all work out! It has to.....we are eating a 1/8 of what we use to! .

I ❤️ Jesus!

Can you use a straw? I was sleeved by Dr. Ortiz and he and his dietician told me not to use a straw as the air will stretch the stomach. I believe it was also in my paperwork. I was sooooo thinking a straw would be so much better but it was a no no!
