Stomach binder
I have worn one for a couple years off and on for a hernia issue. I'm so used to it that it feels weird without it. I call it my mirdle, (man girdle). I'm having surgery again in a few months to fix the hernia, so it looks like I'll be giving it up soon!

Coconut Flour
This is probably a question for your nutritionist. I have never personally used it. Although it is lower in carbs than wheat flour, it is still far from carb free. It also has a lot of saturated fat.

Hernia Question
I had the same thing immediately following surgery, but it went away after a few days. It is probably nothing, especially if it doesn't hurt, but I would definitely follow up with the doc. That would be a strange spot for a hernia. They usually form a little lower in the abdomen.

How long are you out of work?
I'm out for a month. That is standard at my job for any type of surgery. I won't complain!

How Much Did You Lose Before People Noticed?
A lot of people are afraid to hand out compliments, for whatever reason. Weird, I know.

Got a date for my Sleeve!
Congrats on setting a date! The only thing I could say about the pre-op liquid diet is that the first few days are rough, but it gets better. Just stay busy to keep your mind off of it and drink a ton! You will get through it. Good luck with the band removal!

January 21 - My Life Change
Congrats on setting a date and getting ready with the changes! I was happy I made a lot of changes pre-op, so it wouldn't be such a huge adjustment. Best of luck with everything!

4 days in,,,, Liquid diet,,, So boring,,,
All I can tell you is that it does get easier. Of course, I know that doesn't help at all. Just stick to it. You have got this!

7 mos out, failing horribly... ????
It is never too late to get back on track. It is simply a matter of how bad you want to do it. Nothing worth achieving is easy, unfortunately.

How many "meals" per day during purée/soft stages?
I haven't started yet, (2 days to go!) but 3 meals a day is also what I was instructed. I never thought I would be so excited to be able to eat what is essentially baby food!

One Year Post Opp Update
That is a great list! Thank you for sharing. These are many of the same thoughts and fears that I have had or continue to have. Nice to hear they are mostly unwarranted!

Guilty for considering surgery?
Why would you feel guilty for considering surgery? EVERYBODY needs help with something at some point in their life. There is nothing wrong with that. That is all weight loss surgery is, help to move in the direction you need to go.

Waiting
I was told 3-5 business days, and I think that was about what it took. The waiting sucks, good luck!

YIKES! Weight Loss Surgery bill came today!
That seems about right. Mine was right around $30,000 with a 2 night stay.

Gym Supplements. Need a push
Losing weight and becoming healthier are more of an energy boost to me than anything I could take. Your body is undergoing some radical changes. Be patient and keep up the routine and you will get back to where you were without the need for an artificial boost. I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but it is the truth!

Telling the Family
Good luck! Keep in mind that you are doing this for you! While it is nice to have support, it really does not matter what anyone else thinks!

30-30-30 Rule
My surgeon basically told me that all of these changes are for a year. After that you can relax on the rules a bit, as your body allows. Of course, the hope is that after a year you have developed healthy habits and are more in tune with what your body is telling you. Every Doctor and every person is different. Your mileage may vary!

Anyone heard of a "sock" procedure
A quick Google search came up with this: http://diabeteshealth.com/read/2008/10/20/5946/need-gastric-bypass-put-a-sock-in-it-the-endobarrier-gastrointestinal-liner/ Not exactly what you were describing, but interesting! This is also 6 years old, so I wonder what happened with the whole idea?
