This is why I did WLS. My daughter hasn't seen me since August, which was one pre-op diet and one VSG ago. I went into the airport to pick her up today, rather then just picking her up at the curb. I wanted her to see the results as a surprise so I stood back when she came out. She looked my way several times and started to walk away. At that point I started to walk toward her. We made eye contact and her eyes just got bigger and all she could say was "wow!" She said she her brain was in conflict. She thought it looked like me, but it just looked wrong.
As we walked to the car I asked her how she felt. She said you look like a normal weight person but with a little more meat on your bones. I said that meat would be going as well. She asked, "Are you going to lose more?" Ha! I told her I wasn't even half way there.
She admitted she was nervous to see me because she was afraid I would be different. Interesting to hear that from her perspective, but so far she can see I'm the same inside. I can't wait for the next stretch of three months in the Spring where she won't see me!
So my holiday has officially begun. I don't need pumpkin pie with a NSV like this.
