Stall at 3 months?
700 calories is pretty low for 3 months post op. Increasing for a couple days would probably break the stall. On a side note, did you ever think that anyone would tell you to increase your calories to lose more weight?

80 grams of protein?
I had problems with the shake getting warm before finishing it as well. Solution: pour it over ice!

Need help.
There is a calorie-free "social lubricant" that you could use in place of alcohol. Of course, it is not exactly legal in every state, but it isn't hard to find. I have probably said too much...

FOOD SCALE?
I use my scale religiously. I weigh everything! It not only helps with portion sizes, but also converting nutrition info down to what I am actually eating, since I no longer eat a full serving of anything.

Grumpy and Weak
My first 3 days were pretty rough but it got better after that. Hang in there!

Feeling overwhelmed....????
Definitely follow doctor's orders. Though it may not feel like it, your new stomach is still very fragile this soon after surgery. Do not do anything that could possibly cause damage. If you are not already taking omeprazole (Prilosec), that may help with the hunger feelings. Just be sure to crush them first.

EXTREME Pain, 1 day post-surgery
My stomach hurt a LOT worse than I was expecting. I was slightly angry about that! On the bright side, it gets much better within a few days time. Habg in there!

Premier Protein, or any protein drink
As you can see you are going to get a lot of different answers to this. I basically track 3 things; liquids, Protein and carbs. I also keep a loose calorie count in my head, but if I am eating what I am supposed to, it isn't as important to me as the other things. I only count calorie free beverages as liquid. If it has protein and/or carbs it goes in those categories. I just think of the liquids I gain from these things as a bonus. Why do I do it like this? Who knows? My brain is a complex network of silly rules that I have devised and have convinced myself that the world will collapse around me if I do anything different. So, it works for me. Basically, do whatever works for you!

Confused about restriction
I am nearly 2 months post-op. I had some of the same problems you are experiencing. My solution was chewable Gas-X and walking. You said you have to move around to feel better, so move around! I got to the point that i would take my Protein shake and go walk while I drank it. I still do that in the morning, just out of habit. Nothing wrong with getting your nutrition and your exercise at the same time. My gas problems mostly went away after a month or so. Also, if you aren't taking an antacid regularly, that might help with the hunger feelings. I take a crushed Prilosec morning and night, at the advice of my surgeon. As for finding your full, it will be easier once you start eating more normal foods. For now just focus on getting your protein and fluids. That is the most important thing! It gets easier and you will adjust, I promise!

Getting very scared
I'll start by saying that only you can decide if weight loss surgery is right for you and if now is the right time. However, In my own experience, and from reading what people on here have to say, the biggest regret is not doing it sooner. Here are some things to think about. Do you think that making a healthy lifestyle change will do you more good in the future than it will right now? Do you think that going through this process while caring for a child will be easier? You barely qualify for surgery now, would you rather wait until you easily qualify? Why put yourself through that? I understand the fear that comes with this whole thing. I have been there. I talked myself into and out of going through with it several times. I am almost 2 months post-op at this point. Nothing has drastically changed in my life except for how I look at food. It no longer controls me. None of my fears have happened. I am better off now than I have been for most of my life. I wish I had made these changes years ago!

September 2, 2014 think doing good but have question?
So in 4 months since surgery you have lost about 80 pounds? That is awesome! I would say just keep up what you are doing and you will be fine. According to my surgeon, you will lose most of the weight you are going to lose in 10-12 months after surgery. Of course it will slow down, but you have a great start! And yes, I focus more on what I still need to lose than what I have already done. Nothing wrong with that! Good luck, you have got this!

Month 3 of 6
It took over 3 months for approval after my final diet appointment. There was a bit of wrestling with the insurance company. It goes much faster for most. Best of luck on your journey!

Sorry MEN!
I'll even admit to reading stuff in the ladies room on occasion, though I have resisted the urge to post. I figure I need all the help I can get figuring out the female mind! (Even with 20+ years of marriage I haven't cracked the code.)

I'm done telling folks. They don't get it
I tell people if they ask. Not a big deal since I really don't care what people think or say!

Sorry MEN!
You are forgiven. For what it's worth, I don't really care if you or any other of the fairer sex read or post in the men's room. But that's just me!

Day 2 of Optifast diet
It is true that the first few days are the hardest. I felt horrible and craved EVERYTHING for 3 days, after that the rest of the 2 weeks was a breeze. You can do it!

Question about taking meds
I drink just enough Water to get them down. However, at the advice of my surgeon, I also crush my pills before taking them.

I'm having one of those days...
Keep it up! The longer you resist the urge the easier it becomes. You have got this! It will be worth it all in the long run!

Still looking for people scheduled in March
March is a long way off. You will probably have better luck finding people as the time gets closer. Many people only schedule surgery 2-4 weeks out. Best of luck with your weight loss!

The Dreaded First Stall...
My first stall was 2 weeks. Just do what you are supposed to do and it will pass. No worries! It is not the end of the world!

Bites half the size of your thumbnail
I used a baby spoon my first month post op. Now I have graduated to a small but almost normal sized spoon. Baby steps!

professional 52yo worried about perception of other members of upper management?
You don't have to tell them you had weight loss surgery. It is none of their business. Or you could point out that in fact this is an extreme measure, and you were willing to do whatever it takes to reach your goal. Anyone in business should know that one person is not as effective as a well organized team with a plan. You, your surgeon, nutritionist and support group make up that team. Mostly though, I wouldn't worry about it all too much. In my real life experience, people are shocked at first when you make a big change, but they quickly adapt to the new you and forget about the past. I would hope that upper management at a large company has better things to worry about than one of their peers losing some weight.
