largeininc reacted to wannaBthinsoon in I'm done telling folks. They don't get it
I told my sister. I wasn't going to, but she was trying to convince me to buy a new bread machine (that makes homemade noodles! OH BOY! I really need more bread and noodles!) I told her, don't need it, doubt I'll be making any bread or noodles for a long time, if ever again. She said..."WHAT?! ANOTHER DIET?!!" "HOW long will this one last???". I told her about my decision to have gastric sleeve surgery. THEN out of her mouth came........."EWWWWW!! Have you thought that through??" um, yeah, I didn't just wake up this morning and say...hmmm I think I'll have major surgery to remove 85% of my stomach sometime after the first of the year. Note to self. Don't tell anyone else.

Good luck tomorrow and remember that many people do not have all the facts when they judge our decisions. Believe in yourself and in your doctor....you are going to be fine. And dont forget to continue breathing!

I have had both. The Colonoscopy for my diverticulitis and the endo as prep for my wls. Neither are horrible. The worst part was the mask for endo getting caught in my beard.

I hope that my experience is half as good as yours. It is people like you that give me hope that this surgery will be different than my other experiences. I feel like we have more control over how our body will adjust to the new way of life and that if I do not do well, it will be because of my actions. I hope you continue with your positive change. Just wanted you to know that your experience has given me hope!! Have a good New Year's!!

Steph, I like your idea about posting them above the scale, but I think I will take it one step further and post it in the pantry and on the fridge. That would be a good reminder whenever that urge to eat something not so healthy strikes.

Congrats to EVERYONE!!!
I too LOVE this thread!!
Dange- Thats too funny 'bout the pants!! Good thing you were at home!!
1) I think one of my favorite NSV is being able to paint my toenails!! I could hardly bend over before to even clip them!
2) I can also put my cars seat all the way front- and still have room between the steering wheel and my belly!!! And I can even put down the arm rest now!
3) When going to a restaurant, not worried if I can fit into a booth!
4) Being able to wear summer dresses and feel like a lady!
There is so much more... but thats what comes to mind right now.

Ha! I had the classic just now. I was walking through my living room with my daughter in arms, and could feel my jeans inching down on one side!!!! and then.... wooshka! down around my ankles they went!! *hysterically laughing* and there it is...my first real embarassing NSV (lucky I bought some very neat smalls in a smaller size last week!!!!)

Way to go Ruthi! I remember how excited
I was when I fit into my first size 12s.
My biggest NSV ever was when I was talking with my trainer awhile back about
putting a profile up on a dating site. I asked him which box to check, average
or "a few exra lbs." I wanted a man's opinion. He said You're definitely average.
That same day, a man at the gym asked
me how I keep my legs so toned. I was
literally shocked. I just pointed to the machines I use.

Awesome job Bob! I am so proud FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is an I-touch? Do I want one or would that make my husband jealous?
-
largeininc reacted to MacMadame in NSV shout outs
I think it's the U-touch that makes husbands jealous. :biggrin0:
Some recent NSVs:
-Some pants I bought two months ago are too big for me now even though I haven't gone down that much on the scale
-The other day I saw a picture of myself and instead of noticing all the imperfections, I thought I looked hot (and tiny)
-Shot up a hill today that would have been a challenge 6 months ago
-My resting heart rate is the same as for a lifetime athlete

Loving this thread! My favorite thus far is the one I posted about last week. I can no longer buy my clothes from the woman's department at Kohl's. I now can shop in the regular sizes.

Non scale Victory
My favorite one to date has got to be fitting in the booth at our favorite Mexican restaurant without having to move the table closer to my son. Plus, having lots of room between my belly and the table.
The others:
Seeing all the bones in my feet and ankles
Having just 1 chin
My son wrapping his arms around me and getting excited that he can clasp his hands for a "real hug".
All of my rings and bracelets being too big
Buying regular sized clothes from Old Navy
Having my dermatologist not even recognize me until she read my chart, that was an amazing feeling.

I bought a pair of size 12 slim leg jeans yesterday as an incentive but....they fit me now!!!! They arent event the stretchy type material or relaxed fit. I am sooo stoked.

Wonderful Bob! I absolutely love this thread. My shouts outs so far:
* tossed all my size 2x - believe me, not even the Goodwill would want them.
* fit into Liz Claiborn 16WP jeans - tossed my 22WP - see above.
* able to go 1 hour vigorously on the treadmill and love doing it.
* rewarded myself w/a Sansun slot radio to keep me going while exercising.
* have more energy than I have had in years.
* vow never to wear black again unless it is lingerie.
* stopped caffeine, diet soda, sugar, flour, but haven't we all!

Hi all. I am now down roughly 60 pounds and seven weeks out from when I started my liquid pre-diet. Am also having some awesome NSV moments. Some are:
No longer wearing 3x shirts. They are packed and ready to be taken to Goodwill. My size 48 (expandable) pants? Gone too. Can button my pants at my belly button. No more "slant pants." I wore a much smaller belt...and it was a new one! Went three days this past week without needing a mid day nap. Three days now without any slimes or throwing up. Joined a local health club to work out. Snoring is all but gone. No more BP meds at all (125/65 is normal now). And BMs much more normal and less stressful. Bought myself an I-touch. That was my 50 pound loss gift to myself. Any suggestions for the 100 plateau? That's a short list, but ones that come to mind.
Please, share yours!
Let's look at the fact that this journey is not just about the weight loss, but about all the wonderful things that continue to happen along the ride!

I am still concerned about the midget. Where has the midget gone? We need to ensure the midget's needs are being met. I will begin looking at the "chicken farm".
This post was exactly what I needed. Nobody was laughing at you and probably most were realizing they could have/or will say worse. I will take the lesson of this post and make sure my phone is not readily available until I can argue with my wife to get it back.
Everybody here is so supportive, thank you.

@angeleil60 please whatever you do don't apologize for your original post. I haven't had a laugh that good in ages, and as it's been said: laughter is the best medicine! Glad to hear you're feeling better!

I can better write and talk about my surgery now, sorry Yesterday I try to talk and aloud the phone to type for me. I went and had the sleeve it went very well and yes I had pain meds to fight the pain. I was up and down all night I went into a time of just throwing up but today I feel so much better and I was told that If I feel better that I could also shower this evening. I just thank God that I made it through and now I am on the road the road to recovery. I am glad that everyone had laugh at my first writing I am sorry about that. Keep the faith.
