This is how I do my chicken. In the crock pot, with a cream soup. Keeps them super moist. But yesterday we did a full chicken in the crock pot (with no soup)and then I had re-heat my little portion because I was gone during dinner. Oh my gosh. It was WAY too dry. Instantly sick to my stomach and couldn't eat anything else for the rest of the evening. I hate when that happens, especially on days I was already low on my Protein.
I used to eat eggs every morning for Breakfast, but I'd literally have to put out of my head what I was eating, or I'd gag. I'd mix salsa with mine and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. But I am so sick of them now. Just thinking about them makes me nauseous. So I feel for you!
I've switched to Light & Fit Greek yogurts for Breakfast. I was also sick of the super sweet flavors of them, but it's a switch up from the eggs, so it's going ok so far. I was buying the 80 Cal ones, but got sick of those flavors, so I've gone to the 100 Cal ones. I figure for an extra 20 calories, and if I can get them down easier, I'll eat the extra 20. :-)
I totally agree with you on the fact my taste buds seem to change often. What I can eat one week might be totally different the next week!
I have bought a few different frozen meals also. I eat all of the protein/veggies out of them first, and if I'm not full, I'll eat a little of the carb item. But I can usually only get down 1/2 -3/4 of a meal.
It's such a learning experience!! Daily!

You mentioned not being able to find a Protein supplement that you like. I was exactly the same way until I heard about, and tried, Syntrax Matrix, which I purchase from vitacost.com
I've tried the Cookies & Cream and Mint Cookie. I make it with 4 oz Almond Breeze vanilla and 4 oz. of Water. They are really good. 23 grams of Protein in 140 calorie. I now drink two shakes per day along with a Protein Bar and I'm consistently getting at least 80 grams of protein per day. I found an online coupon that worked and the items were delivered in 2 days.

@MamaTo3inNH Have you tried cooking the chicken in a crock pot? meats are usually very moist and tender this way. If you'd still like a sauce, try adding some cream of chicken Soup on top of the chicken while it cooks (maybe even stir in some unflavored Protein powder for extra protein).

I have never been able to eat eggs. Smell, texture and taste make me gag. I've tried a few times here and there to see if my tastes have changed but no luck.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll keep plugging along, without the help of the freezer meals

After WLS we should not be eating more than 50 carbs per day. I know how you feel, I am not a meat eater. But when I had my sleeve last September, I knew what I was signing up for. I eat chicken, fish, hate eggs, but eat them. Best of luck to you.

Lots of good information here! Good suggestions, too. To the OP: ask your surgeon! You said you got the clearance, so it should be okay. I always check the nutrition label to find the low-cal, high-Protein ones. Both Weight Watchers (eatyourbest.com) and Lean Cuisine have really good websites so you can find the high-protein meals.
For Weight Watchers Smart Ones, for example, you can list all the meals with at least 12 grams of Protein. Then you can sort those by calorie content. So, the one that comes up on top is chicken Santa Fe. It has only 160 calories and 19 grams of protein – not bad to have in your freezer in a pinch!
At LeanCuisine.com, you can also search by nutrient content. You can get something like Herb Roasted chicken for 180 calories and 16 grams of protein.
So, to the OP, I think frozen meals are okay, but you can do better than 300 calories and 15 grams of protein. Also, if you get a big frozen meal, remember that it’s always okay to have half now and half another time.
To ProjectMe…you’re just full of good ideas! Thank you!
@@alwaysvegas , really good points about processed foods. I definitely agree that making your own is better, but for me, it’s not always practical. And when it comes time to eat, I’m better off having a semi-okay frozen meal than caving into delivery or mac and cheese!

Unjury makes an unflavored Protein that I add to just about everything...soups, turkey chili, fat free chili, hummus, cottage cheese, yogurt, Apple sauce, etc.

also bandediving.com has some great recipes, it's run by Sandi Henderson who was 424 lbs now like 150 . She creates really good recipes and gets them from other sources. It's a challenge to get your Protein in if you don't do eggs or meat. I think there are probably some vegans on here who could help you.

I prefer to cook and freeze my own portion size meals ahead of time, but these high-protein meals have come in handy in a pinch. I found them at Safeway. All of them are high protein/low carb. My favorite is the cheesy chicken. It has 26 grams of Protein and 8 carbs. At 11 months out I can eat about 3/4 of one package.

I don't ever look at frozen foods but 15 grams of Protein is rather low for a meal. a piece of chicken, or shrimp or fish or even steak, hamburger will all have much more than 15 grams. if I were to look at a frozen entrée as an emergency meal I would look at Atkins. if you can't find food healthy for you, you will not succeed, I am sorry to be mean here but our brains are wired differently. you will start to look at foods you like more but likely isn't a good choice. the wt. loss will stop. try hard and get the cookbooks out and get on the internet and find good healthy meals that you can fix and that you will like.

I like those seasoned packets too. I tried a Thai seasoned one at lunchtime and almost passed out from the heat of it...should have known better when I opened it and it had a whole chili pepper on top! I also like the frozen turkey burgers and salmon fillets.

I was able to get in all my Protein even in liquid and pureed stages....
I didn't mind the shakes, in fact at 15 months out I still have one everyday. But believe me, I tried dozens before I found the ones I like. You can get samples from Nashua Nutrition. I dilute them all with twice as much water/milk as they call for and use fresh fruit and Torani syrups to add variety.
I added unflavored Protein Powder to everything. Cream of mushroom Soup, lobster bisque, egg drop Soup, hot and sour soup, cream of asparagus, French onion soup, butternut squash soup, vegetable soup, Bob's Red Mill 10 grain hot Cereal, hummus, guacamole, etc.
I use vanilla Protein Powder or Torani Syrup to flavor plain Greek yogurt so I can control the sweetness. (Plus it adds even more protein). BTW, read label...some yogurts have twice as much Protein as others. Kashi Go Lean Cereal has 13g protein/10g Fiber per cup so would be a good amount of protein with skim milk added.
Have you tried tuna fish? Crab salad? Fish? Peanut Butter or PB2? Split pea soup and bean soup have a lot of protein (plus you can add unflavored protein powder). Tofu? And there's tons of things you can do with cheese. Any particular reason you don't do eggs?

Have you tried the recipes on the blog World According to Eggface? She has recipes for every Bariatric stage. Whenever I get bored I try something new. The recipes make a lot of portions, so I freeze them and I'm good for weeks.

You're MUCH better off preparing your own meals with clean fresh Proteins and vegetables. Frozen meals are processed and loaded with carbs, salt, and preservatives.
Rather than frozen meals, you'd get much better Protein from baked chicken breast, baked fish, cottage cheese, or turkey.

Interestingly, frozen meals aren't even mentioned in my PostOp plan. We can eat so little that I'd rather eat something high Protein, nutritious & tasty tbh. I wouldn't be getting my money's worth since I don't eat potatoes, rice, Pasta, or white flour...I would just pick out the meat and maybe a few veggies then leave the rest.

I feel actual hunger every now and then, but for the most part it's head hunger. I can't stomach many foods... They make me want to vomit (the taste or texture - not like dumping or anything like that) I get the majority of my Protein from shakes and Protein Bars.

I want to thank everyone for their advice and encouragement. I spoke to my husband about that comment today. I told him how shocked I was and how much it hurt. He said that he meant that seeing me in such a fragile state and knowing how much pain I'm still in, he is afraid to hurt me. Other than that comment, he has been wonderful during this process. Maybe I misinterpreted his comments, maybe not. I believe his explanation for now and we'll see. I remain focused on myself and the positive changes that I am making. Than you all!

Let me start off by saying I don't keep pictures of my old "self" so when my mom sent me this picture from thanksgiving I was shocked at how much my face has actually changed in this process. I knew it would but when you do a side by side it's pretty inspiring to keep up the motivation! 60 more lbs to go!!!
